Hello campers,
I sent out an email to our list, and if for some reason you didn't get it, I'll repeat myself. Make sure your Paypal address is your current address since we'll be mailing tickets. Second, let me know who you'd like to camp with. The campsites are for 6 people.
If you need to send me an email, please sent it to:
almaparadiso@gmail.com
Thanks!
Auriel

Re: correct address for tickets and campmates
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 3:10 AMMake sure you contact Auriel with the information on campmates and then make sure you coordinate with them so cut down on the stuff you lug over there.
Going back to the idea of "can I do without this?" ask your friends which of you will bring things that a camp only needs one of. Things like those air pumps. If two or more of you have the same kind, arrange for one of you to bring it and share. Also, remember that worst case scenario in this case is not so bad. There is a supermarket, a cafe, showers, chemical toilets, a place to rent anything you need for camping and lots of activities, you'll be surrounded by friends, the organizers are supplying the music, and your meals will be catered.
This isn't Burningman. You don't have to be radically self reliant for this one. Be radically co-op communal hippie types instead. -

Water
Sat, May 24, 2008 - 7:25 PMDid anyone mention if thereis drinking water at the site or if we need to bring our own. -

Tue, May 27, 2008 - 12:43 AMThere is drinking water at the site. Also showers and chemical toilets. -

Re: Water
Tue, May 27, 2008 - 12:52 PMAnd the drinking water (on tap) tastes purty good, if you ask me, but you city slicker Evian types can always buy bottled water from the camp store, you just have to lug it 1/4 mile over the hill ;-P
This is not what I'd call a "bring coolers full of beer" event. If you wanna drink, bring liquor and mixers, or wine. We'll try to have some fruit juice on hand to mix with, but ya know how it goes...the mixers are gone long before the booze is. But hey, bring a cooler, there's plenty of ice for sale.
Oh, and packing. If anyone has NOT looked at the luggage restrictions, you only have yourself to blame if you bring too much, or the wrong stuff. Think of it as air travel, you can check two bags, up to 70 pounds each (which will be stowed in the cargo bay), and bring one small carry-on. LABEL EVERYTHING. No combustibles, fireworks, generators, coolers full of food, et cetera et cetera. Read it and weep. Plan on bringing cash for any necessary camp store purchases. And then relax with the assurance that everything else will be taken care of. -

Re: Water
Tue, May 27, 2008 - 2:14 PMAccording to what Saynt said a while back we are not held
exactly to the "luggage restrictions" listed in the boat website.
I mean if that were the case, we would have to choose between
a tent & airmattress; airmattress & clothes; or tent and clothes.
We get the pack light recommendation. But my understanding
was since we're chartering the boat it's a bit looser than is posted.

Re: Water
Wed, May 28, 2008 - 9:05 AMWe do have extra luggage space, that is true. But this is a far cry from any event most of us have ever attended. You can't exactly pull your SUV up to the boat and unload a dozen bins, haul aboard that Costco shade structure, or bring your poi fuel. I'm just hoping that everyone gets that point. Trust me, not everyone will. -

Re: Water
Wed, May 28, 2008 - 9:57 AMAnd frankly, I like the idea of sharing things at our campsite.
I mean if one person brings the air pump, someone else the
shade tarp, etc... that's cooperation. It's awesome...

Have you emailed the tickets out to us yet?
So looking forward to the event.

Re: correct address for tickets and campmates
Wed, May 28, 2008 - 12:18 PMI have the same question. When should we expect to get our tickets so we can look out for them. -

Re: correct address for tickets and campmates
Wed, May 28, 2008 - 5:09 PMMost events we do don't have your standard "ticket" involved. I assumed there would be a list with our names on it considering this crew tends to be the eco-friendly type and what not. Of course I'll leave the set in stone answer to those setting this up, but hard copy tickets are not generally necessary. -

Re: correct address for tickets and campmates
Wed, May 28, 2008 - 6:13 PMIt was decided to have physical tickets for this event. I'll be mailing them out in a week or so.
I'll also be sending out some FYI things for Alma. What's most important is to listen to what Viagra has said. There is a baggage limit which is 2 bags per person and 1 cooler. That's it. If you bring extra baggage, it will spend the weekend in the truck of your car. After watching the logistics at LIB, it's already going to be challenging enough to handle 1200+ bags and all the set up, crew, and stage gear. -

Re: correct address for tickets and campmates
Thu, May 29, 2008 - 8:56 AMThat's right, dammit! People should ALWAYS listen to what I say...even if it's wrong...he he
But trust me on the baggage restrictions. I know it's gonna be a bit tough on some of you, but after figuring the logistics of bringing all the food, supplies, and equipment to feed 350 people for five meals, two bags and a cooler is the easiest thing in the world for me.
