Signed the papers today

Looking forward to getting a little over 3KW installed in the next few weeks (waiting for building permit). Going to put it all on roof of 2-storey structure; no obstructions. Hope to bump down one tier at least; wait and see.

Congratulations, and keep us posted on how it works, eh?

--System's been in for 2 weeks now and I'm *still* waiting for "permission" from PG&E to be able to generate power; i.e. I've been doing it all along now but they won't credit me for it until I've got their permission to do so. One snag was a stipulation that I make the meter available for them to read 24/7, which meant I either had to move the meter out of our backyard (expensive) or I had to modify our backyard fence so that the meter was not on the dog-side of the backyard, *even though* the meter was close enough to the fence already that someone could look over the top to see the readings! Finally got a contractor to do the fence over on Friday, but by the time he was done it was too late to call PG&E. Hope to make the call first thing Monday, then it's hurry up and wait for the bureaucratic machine to grind out an answer and let me get started!

3 kw is less than 20 amps. that is not a very expensive meter to put outside your fence. you are talking about a performance meter right?

Not sure what a "performance" meter is, but it's digital and it's the main meter. I miss the little analog spinning wheel; it was much easier to glance and just see which way it was turning and how fast, heh.

Clearly, they need to get with the times. National Grid put in remote-readable meters over three years ago in our area. If they can do it in a minor area like Schenectady, NY, then PG&E should be able to do it in a major area like SF.
