Are there ANY dancers in North American who were BORN in Lebanon? I can name a few who claim Lebanese heritage, but NONE have even been to LEBANON!
Besides Amani, I don't know I've ever seen a REAL Lebanese dancer perform!
Just one more reason to love her!
And how do you feel about this lady using the name Amani? www.amanijabril.com
The last email I got from her the last name was dropped, leaving me with the impression she was "AMANI"

Thu, August 24, 2006 - 7:15 AMHey there! I checked her site, and she doesn't claim to do Lebanese style, at least from what I saw. Just the same first name; sounds like a coincidence.

Fri, November 3, 2006 - 4:05 PMMy best friend, Alexandria, www.bellydanceralexandria.com, has danced in Beirut and other places with the House of Artists agency, and although she is American, I would definitely call her style Lebanese. -

Re: Lebanese Dancers in North America?
Wed, July 4, 2007 - 10:44 PMI worked with a Lebanese dancer (born and raised in Lebanon) in Los Angeles many years ago...but I won't divulge her name because she wasn't a very good dancer and couldn't get too many dance jobs. Mostly she seemed interested in getting a husband.
Later that year, I went to Venezuela with some musicians to perform shows for all the Lebanese who live there (many Lebanese and Syrians live there) and one of the musicians was Choufic Hachem, who was married to Nadia Gamal.... both Lebanese but Choufic told me Nadia was half Lebanese and the other half .... I can't recall if he said Italian or Greek, but I think Greek.
Anyway, thought that was interesting... -
