Anthony Bourdain In Beirut on Travel Channel
Bourdain discusses his experiences in Beirut.
My husband and I have been to Lebanon 4 times together. We did not go last year or this year, because of the unsettled issues.
But last night we were teary eyed watching this silly cooking show. A chef travels around the world and discovers foods from different cultures. This episode was Beirut. When he arrived in Beirut, the fighting broke out, but he made that experience into his show.
My favorite part was when he cooked at the hotel he was evacuated to. I've been to that hotel, we met & saw Amani's show there. She doesn't live far from it.

It captured better than any news program the reality of the people who live in Lebanon.
One thing I found irritating, as the jets flew over bombing, he never identifies them as Israeli. But we knew it. Bombing the road to the casino, the airport and the communication antenna of LBC (a Christian Television station) All to push the beautiful face of Lebanon into the dirt, because those targets were all very far North away from the border where the fighting broke out.

Thu, September 27, 2007 - 4:10 PMPick my brain anytime, there are usually one or two others whose brains are better picking than mine. I didn't travel as a dancer. They usually have some good info.
First places to visit is www.lebanonembassyus.org/

Re: Curious about life in Lebanon? Watch "No Reservations" Anthony Bourdain In Beirut on Travel Channel
Wed, October 3, 2007 - 6:20 PMHi!
Well first time i came here to Amani´s festival in 2006. Then i got an offer to work in the Gulf through lebanese agency. So i came here again last may for some training, because i never had a lebanese teacher before. I stayed for 2 month. And of course i made many friends here..so i just keep on coming back to Beirut,..because this country is absolutley fantastic.. People are afraid to come to Lebanon because of political situation and waiting for the" right " time to come here ,but it´s Lebanon..things are almost never quiet here! By the way very often media in western countrys exajurates about what ´s really happening over here.
Anyway..maybe i becoming too lebanese :) , but i amire this country.

Re: Curious about life in Lebanon? Watch "No Reservations" Anthony Bourdain In Beirut on Travel Channel
Mon, October 1, 2007 - 1:27 PMI happened to catch this episode earlier this year, and it immediately captured my undivided attention. Anthony has a great way of saying it exactly how it is. No fluff. I have dreamed of traveling to Lebanon for so many years now. Hope to make it soon.
