< Suppose you visited some alien planet and you came back giving the following account of some life form that you just saw on this planet. You come back to your friend and say, "You’ve got to believe me. I saw this animal. It can stalk its prey with infrared detectors and it swallows whole, live animals five times bigger than its head. It has no arms and legs or any other appendage, yet it can slide along the ground at about two feet per second." You say, "Wow, what an exotic creature that is!" Well, of course, you’ve just described a snake. Snakes have no arms or legs, not all but many have infrared detectors, and they can eat things five times bigger than their head. That’s a scary creature if you haven’t seen any other kind of creature in your life. >

    At present all the data suggest no to any technologically advanced species out there in a medium that we can receive.

    And while I suspect that life is indeed out there almost all of it I suspect given Earth own biological history is microbial only...
