of course i wanted to be there but to be honest i'm glad that i'm not scrambling for cover to avoid burning in the hot daytime sun, choking on playa stirred up by dust storms... yeah, it might get a little hot and sweaty on the dancefloor but that's the way it's supposed to be!

not that we're gonna spend the entire night all clean and pretty and indoors. we will dance under the recently full moon kicking up a little toxic dust of our own, and we will gladly greet the burning brightness of the morning sun!

some come convene at shine, conveniently close to bart, have a couple drinks dance to some choice beats and find out where the party will wind up next. we won't have art cars but hopefully some caravan can be conjured up to transport us to the next beat!

for those of you in the east bay, don't fret there are ways to get around the bridge being closed! if you feel like it you can drive south to the san mateo bridge and take 101 north into the city or drive north to the richmond bridge and then come into the city over the golden gate. if that seems like too far out of your way to drive, take bart into the city! after midnight bart will be running limited service all night, departing the city from powell st or the embarcadero.

and you thought you'd be stranded....
it is possible to get to the after party location by bus but i will be starting a ride share thread here so hopefully we can pack everyone into cars at shine and caravan there! much more fun than waiting for the bus and assures that you won't miss a beat on the dancefloor! so please, everyone! carpool!

one more thing before you rush off to figure out how you're getting there and what you're going to wear (saturday be prepared for a fine san francisco morning, which of course means a chance of fog)

when going to the afterparty be discreet! do not park at the location, please! there is ample street parking within a couple blocks of the location on side streets so as not to draw the attention of the authorities.

if you see a cruiser going by as you approach the party keep walking until it passes and then double back!

please take your trash with you when you leave! the less trace we leave the better!

if you know the location of the afterparty please don't post it online! if you must email or call your friends with the info.

if you don't know the location of the afterparty ask around at shine. we'll get you there!

Help: New Vinyl

Im looking into getting some new vinyl in my crate.
I play mostly downtempo and trip hop, but also play Phat Melodic Midtempo on Abelton. Also, sometimes I play sets of Glitchy, Moody Chillout.

I need to find some names of some dope producers.

The kind of music I like to play is hella chill downtempo, with a phat hip hop beat in the background, and vocals are always nice, but definitly not nessicary.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

What more do we need to say about this other than, the Flaming Lotus Girls are still very in debt after their amazing "Mutopia" fire art piece this past year at Burning Man, and we want to help them. Every dj on the lineup has agreed to play for free or at a reduced cost, & 100% of the proceeds from this show will go towards getting FLG as far out of "the red" as possible, and maybe into the pink.

I know many of you have been awed by their art over the years, and if you've ever wanted to thank them for all the amazing & hard work they've put in, coming out and having some fun with us & supporting our little event would be a great start.

Along with the really good cause, we here @ E.B. feel that in the past year or two, we've strayed away a little from our initial intent with a few of the shows we've been involved in, so we're absolutely thrilled to be able to make this one a little smaller, a bit more personal, and bring it back to the underground.

The capacity of the venue for this show is a little bit lower than we were planning, so we are expecting the event to sell out at some point in the night. It's the elections again, & it's ABOUT TIME!!!!! I know the majority of you San Franciscans are hoping that soon we'll be living in an Obama-nation, but I really must say that the last 8 years have truly been an abomination. So it's time to CELEBRATE! Bush is going out of office, there's no possible way he can get re-elected regardless of what happens in Florida, and this sad saga in American history is finally coming to a close.

Come join us @ Mighty where we'll be broadcasting the election coverage throughout the club with a soundtrack provided by a bunch of amazing artists who just can't help but celebrate the fact that there really is a light at the end of the tunnel, and yes, it's changing colors.

In the back room we'll have some food & snacks as well as a couple televisions setup in a more relaxing environment so that the more serious voter can catch all the election info as it comes in.

Outside, Peter (TeacherWiththeBus.com) will be bringing down his awesome bus with the dance-floor & the Ambient Mafia will be providing the music, visuals, & who knows what else.

In the main room, music will be provided by a couple SF dj's that I'm sure most of you know, as well as a couple that you probably should know. We also might even have a special, super secret, can't tell you yet, out-of-town dj stop in to play, but I guess you'll just have to come to find out.

It's been a long time since we've had Uberzone play at one of our shows (Dec. '05), and it's been even longer since Uberzone has released a full-length album (2001). And to top it off, he's going to be performing a live set for us!!

Check out a mix from J.Hazen. Recorded Live on Halloween, this set is being dubbed the "Zombie Prom" mix. This one's nice and bouncy.....YEEEAAAH!!!!

first and foremost, thanks to everyone who came out to the ambient mafia 8-year anniversary party last weekend! i've had a lot of people asking me after my sets lately, "what do you call this music? where can i find more of it?" so maybe this mix will help satisfy some of you.

i've really been getting into the psy dub/liquid chillout sound lately, and last month i put some time aside and recorded a few of the tracks i've been digging. this is a straightforward off-the-cuff mix recorded on a whim this fall at Want It studios ;) i feel like the track selection really represents where my head's at with downtempo right now, so i hope you enjoy it.

Even though the name Fine Cut Bodies implies more than one person, behind the FCB letters is only one man, Kevin aka Attila Fodor. Thought you might be interested in checking out Cherry Mint by DB. It's real chill and ambient... I'm not great at summarising so thought I'd just take his bio off his myspace :p

"DB has a formal education in music from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, majoring in performance. While working with Keyboard Workstations he discovered a talent for not only writing but also producing music. He is a true audiophile with an incredible ear for detail, matched only by his pursuit of production perfection. DB’s goal while producing this work was to provide a new listening experience with rich deep detail, allowing the listener to always experience new sounds each time they listen. Since these songs have an average of 100 plus tracks of digital surround audio, there is plenty to take in. There is also no loss of detail in the stereo version."

Anyways, i just picked up the album and I really dig it and thought I'd share!

Brian Rae (GreenSector)
We’re also happy as hell to have Brian Rae from (GreenSector) to throw down some of his hypnotic progressive beats, Brian began his career in the electronic music world in 2002 setting up sound systems at various events in LA. During this time he took a liking to the music he was hearing and began collecting. In 2005 he began to DJ and quickly became a resident with Greensector. Since then he has played his selection of deep groovy progressive all over the deserts, forests, and beaches of California.

Armando ( TerraKroma)

Armando comes straight from Cochabamba Bolivia, where he’s played in many events, hypnotizing people with his progressive grooves since 2000. Armando is one of the co-founders of Moontravelers organization, which has been one of the biggest festival organizers in Bolivia, touring around the country and helping start the engine that pushed the electronic scene in his country. All ready helping establish the rock solid psychedelic foundation in Bolivia, 2005 Armando moved out to California, and helped formed TerraKroma and now he is ready to release his first album on monobeat records along with Andrew (Earth Bag).

It's been two years since Andrew Schiavone (earth bag) tranceplanted himself from the east coast to now out to the west coast in california, where he has been playing live sets and djing since 2002. Armed with a great knowledge of audio engineering and production, he started up Monobeat Records, and now is one of the co-founders of Terrakroma. His music has evolved in many ways spanning time, as the grooves shifted, the progressive world came front in center in his sets.

Gabriel Valda (TerraKroma)

Gabriel Valda another wonderous import from Bolivia, he's been producing and djing since 2000, playing in numerous festivals and parties including the earthdance. Afterwards he relocated to Boston, and he immediately planted his roots in the scene with live and dj acts. He moved out to the west coast in California, and helped co-found TerraKroma. Gabriel's aural expressivness is distinct, pumpin out phat psychedelic progressive grooves and breaks. Gabriel won't disappoint.

Yo, guys! I have only heard music by only your a few of your DJ's and only once, but let me tell you it saved my ass! It was at StillDream this year and not only was the event my first 'rave' (if u can still call them that) but also it was my millionth attempt at trying to get into electronic music. Needless to say, it did not work out between me and the OONTZ OONTZ OONTZ, again. Luckily I meandered my way into the Ambient Mafia Lounge and blissed the F*CK out on a delicius combo of jazz/eastern Indian/middle eastern sounding grooves. Let me just say... YUM! THANK YOU! So, I want to hear you again, A.M. ... when and where? And, how closely tied with the Space Cowboys are ya?

I was getting tired of the "What's your favorite Portishead Track"-like threads. Thanks. While we're getting to know eachother, I go by sAro? and play with JustUs Pro and Word of Mouth in Santa Barbara, CA. I also have a tribe and I hope that we can be related tribes, so maybe a few of you will check it out. It's all about the underground scene and discussions should be relatively underground related. Afterall, where would we be without the underground? Talk soonish.

Sorry if I have been a little flakey lately...gehhhm, Mike. Anyway, I recently met up with some kids that throw parties out here in the Islands and well, we would beat the shit out of them. Pretty popy scene with Gogo dancers and weird shit like that...not that Porno parties dont fall under the realm of weird, but ,hey, what are you gunna do were from San Francisco right? The point is I have locations and even connects to get permits. Plus's and minus's: on the positive side I can fly crew and gear out for free, but, on the down side, who will come to our party besides a bunch of kids that would be like "uhh, what kind of music is this? Hip-hop, this dosent sound like Fifty....ETC." What I am thinking is if anyone over there besides Mike (Redstickman) and myself would be interested in helping to through a party, I would involve the devil of Trance Straylight, Icky as it may be, my collective (dROW) and maybe some help from Kevin and the rest of Vibrations crew to throw a really big party by our standards. I have some money and some freinds with way more money and business connects; I could have my business buddy talk to a travel agency to get in on the ticket (E.G.: the price of ticket to include plane ticket for a great price becouse we are filing a plane load for them, unless bought without flight plan), Straylight get us some head liners from the E.U. (not that you guys arent better :-)), promote with some kids I know that do Professional promoting in North and South Cali, aim for around this time next year or so (any better time Ideas let me know such as Spring perhaps) and proceed to get on the map here and back in Cali. I would suggest that after paying dues from such a party, that is if we didnt go completely under, we could roll it into anopther party or....maybe a cruz for crew afterward. Just some thoughts, please comment as you see fit. This is Peter Rojas so I dont care if your rude. -Ciao

I live in Boston, (tho I travel quite a bit to SF) and the few times I've caught your grooves, I really have loved them. Toruble is, from here I can't always hear the music, but just knowing it's playing and seeing the pics makes my work week a little easier. I know I'll bee there sooner or later and catch it live. It's nice to have it to look forward to.
