i do not see amanita mascaria as the all encompassing way and the only way.. THE WAY to god as it is often preached by many amanita advocates who go deeply into biblical comparisons. i can't quite see (having read ) Don Teeters viewpoint on this.
i see something of the nature of amanita to be a very powerful stepping stone into the self, and as something that reflects a kind of primal nature. i think it would reflect that same nature of yourself and the universe. intuitivly i have a deep respect for AM. pathways are inumerable; and whether it includes the ingestion of substance as a tool or not ...so be it. ultimately one cannot rely on substance, but if you see it as a means to get to a certain point...so be it. did creation take a tablet before doing any creating?
nature seems to advertise amanita mascaria with the outfit of a bight red dress with spots. it seems to saying to whoever is passing by... 'look at me! 'i have something important to show you' for a reason. and when you look at her mycelium roots you discover a giant living stealthy monster intelligence living beneath her feet.
your thoughts?

Re: amanita and the way ??
Fri, March 13, 2009 - 10:40 AMI agree with much of what you said, but in a somewhat non-linear way.
The life cycle of the Amanita muscaria mushroom in itself, encompasses all the steps of Alchemy and other philosophies of purification.
"i think it would reflect that same nature of yourself and the universe" I agree 100% with this one.
I'd like to also paste here a reply I just recently wrote responding to Joe:
"In short, it tunes your mind to a clean frequency, so you think and hear your thoughts clearly without all the normal static. It is a mild experience, but definitely one with great potential, especially since it has a reverse tolerance. The more times you drink it, you learn had to use that experience more effectively the next time. Imagine what internal work one could do with/on themselves once you start losing the static that distracts our thinking process. Eventually, it can become a very powerful, euphoric, and insightful experience."
So no, I don't believe it is the all encompassing way. It's also unlike other substances which people have claimed to have changed their life after one experience. I believe the more Ambrosia I drink, I retain a little bit more of the knowledge I gained from the experience, and so I continue to drink it.

This is another lesson taught by the Amanita, and one of the main points in Don's book. Man has always had an attraction to this mushroom, and it was revered by many different tribes and religions throughout history. So, one of the other main points I learned from Don's book (as well as other authors such as Wasson and Allegro), is that all religions seem to be based from one similar story, which was probably based on the worship of this mushroom. Being able to shed truth on religion and its manipulative ways, also is a "way to God" in the sense that it helps dispel false information and illusions of God, so that one can find the God he/she Truly knows and believes in.
