<h3>Gnostic Media to Reprint John Allegro's famous <strong><em>The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross</em></strong>: A study of the nature and origins of Christianity within the fertility cults of the ancient Near East. </strong></h3>

The debate was never over. In fact, it hasn't yet begun...

After being out of print for more than a quarter of a century Gnostic Media is extremely excited to announce the upcoming 40th anniversary edition of John Marco Allegro's <em>The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross</em>.

Universally reviled on its first publication in May 1970, <em>The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross</em> ruined John Allegro’s career. The book claimed that Christianity, like other Western religions, was rooted in an ancient fertility cult whose phallic god seeded the earth with life. The rites and symbols of this cult, passed on through generations of priests and kings, were still live and potent at the supposed time of Jesus – so potent that they were kept secret by cult members and suppressed by the rulers of church and state. Distorted, disguised, lost in translation, they were nevertheless still there, and surfaced from time to time in the traditions and iconography of the developing church.

The sacred mushroom, <em>Amanita muscaria</em>, was at once the symbol and embodiment of fertility, and the means to understand it. It is one of the entheogens (psychoactive substances derived from plants) that have been used over thousands of years and across continents to reach a higher state of consciousness, a sense of communion with the gods. Allegro maintained this was as true for Judaism and Christianity as it had been for the religions of ancient Greece, Rome, Scandinavia, India and Mexico.

The evidence is in language – Indo-European languages as they have developed and diversified since the first cuneiform inscriptions were written down some 6,000 years ago in ancient Sumer. Words and ideas that were sacred to the Sumerians recur in phrases and myths that became sacred to the Phoenicians, Greeks, Arabs, Hebrews and other nations. <em>The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross</em> sets out Allegro's quest through a family tree of languages to find the truth about where Christianity came from.

The book caused an outcry in 1970. Forty years on, new evidence demands a reexamination of the work and a fairer appraisal from more open-minded readers. That is why Gnostic Media is pleased to present in full this 40th anniversary edition of Allegro's original work, with an addendum, Fungus Redivivus, by Professor Carl A. P. Ruck.

John Marco Allegro (1923-1988) was appointed the first British representative on the international editing team formed in the 1950s to start preparing the Dead Sea Scrolls for publication. His first book, The Dead Sea Scrolls, sold over 250,000 copies. As a writer and broadcaster and a lecturer on Old Testament and Intertestamental Studies at the University of Manchester, Allegro was at the centre of research and debate on the Scrolls.

<em>The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross</em> was a result of 20 years' study in the languages of the Middle East.

Gnostic Media has teamed up with the Allegro estate and Judith Anne Brown, and Professor Carl A. P. Ruck of Boston University for this special 40th anniversary edition of John Allegro's The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross.

I wanted to share my experiences with the amanita thus far.

I picked some the end of july 08' but due to time constraints etc. I didn't get as much put up as I wanted too. I have used it twice, eating it with very good results. Both times I wished I had more to consume but reguardless it took out a fungus that I picked up under my fingernails from salmon fishing. I never had gotten a fungus under my index fingers before, nonetheless it showed up. After the second dosage and a bit of time the fungus went away. Phycologically I noticed an increase in overall clarity. A sort of clearing of the fog kinda thing. I am energy sensitive and it increased my overall sensitivity immediately. The problem for me was that it the required dosage had depleting my stash.

I didn't have a whole lot left so I thought I would save the rest for later. I read somewhere online about smoking it so I decided to try that. The main reason is that a small amount was recomended. A square centimeter of dried cap was recommended. I ground some up and rolled it with tobacco in a cigarette. In short, a very nice little twang. Nothing overpowering just calming. In fact I highly recomment it. A very nice end of the day kinda thing.

I rolled a smoke for a friend yesterday to get another opinion on it. She takes prescribed medication to slow down her heart rate. I talked to her just a few minutes ago and she was excited about it cause it mellowed her heart rate down after smoking it which means that she didn't need the medication. I don't think it cured her of needing the pills forever or anything but she thinks it can be a perminent substitute. Its a beautiful thing to not need pills. Needless to say she will be out picking in july also.

So, until july's picking season gets here this is how I will stretch what I have left. I am loving this mushroom more all of the time. I am starting to see it as a bit of a cure all. I can't wait to see what else it helps.

Just thought I would pass this on to all.

happy consumption

i see something of the nature of amanita to be a very powerful stepping stone into the self, and as something that reflects a kind of primal nature. i think it would reflect that same nature of yourself and the universe. intuitivly i have a deep respect for AM. pathways are inumerable; and whether it includes the ingestion of substance as a tool or not ...so be it. ultimately one cannot rely on substance, but if you see it as a means to get to a certain point...so be it. did creation take a tablet before doing any creating?

nature seems to advertise amanita mascaria with the outfit of a bight red dress with spots. it seems to saying to whoever is passing by... 'look at me! 'i have something important to show you' for a reason. and when you look at her mycelium roots you discover a giant living stealthy monster intelligence living beneath her feet.

I was recently going through a very difficult healing crisis after several months in the Peruvian Jungle dieting with Ayahuasca. The medicine had given me incredible gifts, healings and insights, and if I could have found the strength to abandon all my pre-existing obligations to my old identity, I would have stayed and continued my apprenticeship.

I had been back in North American Society for about 2 months, and the integration was painful to say the least. I felt like the freshly blossoming delicate flower of my Heart was being trampled by mindless ogres. I retreated into solitude for as long as I could, until financial obligations dragged me back into the brambles of life. Barely able to speak or make eye contact with people, my soul still in Peru and my body limping through a gloomy waking nightmare.

CSDD - Classic Shamanic Death Disorder. Knowing thats what was happening sure didn't make it any easier to deal with. One day on a tearful walk through the woods, feeling the love of my plant friends and wanting nothing more than to be with them forever, let my body become food for their delicate roots, I spotted a pair of big red Amanitas.

I really knew nothing about this Friend, except that some said posionous, some said hallucinogenic and poisonous, and some said neither.

That day, they called to me. I picked the giant pair of them, at least 6-8 inches in diameter each, took them home, diced them up and simmered them for about 15 minutes in a cup full of water. The resulting broth smelled and tasted great.

I prayed over the cup, and the tears began to flow as I fully confronted and confessed my helplessness and inability find meaning in this World, the sadness and sense of failure I felt had been always present beneath every momentary distraction of joy. I quickly drank the cup, which tasted like delicious mushroom soup, and layed down in bed listening to some recorded Icaros from Peru. I remember feeling sleepy, a bit hypnotized, and then i was asleep.

I woke up a few hours later, sweating profusely and in a strange trance which I could only describe as a cross between an Ambien and a fever...fell back asleep thinking some strange disjointed and abstract thoughts that scurried around my head like little gnomes or dwarves.

I felt a bit nauseous, and did eventually puke up a bunch of weird green foam a few different times...I wouldn't say it was particularly pleasant for miserable, it was just something I felt I had to go through...after months of ayahuasca purging I have come to accept and appreciate that aspect of medicine and figured if the mushrooms gave me a fever, it was because I had something I needed to burn out.

At the peak of the experience, I half awoke and there was something or things hovering over me, applying what I can only describe as something like an energetic version of the waxing strips ladies use for their legs...and then 'they' said, in a very matter of fact way, "ok, get ready for the healing." and then ripped away the strip! It was as if they had tore out a blockage, or layer of dead energy, or negative entity, or or or...who knows!

All in all, I think I slept about 16 hours. When I finally woke up, I felt pretty damned hung over. Stomach was really miserable, and cramping which was also probably exacerbated by the fact that I fasted the day before. Vision was blurred and I could feel a lot of swelling behind my eyes. I had a vague idea that maybe I had poisoned myself after all and I started to get really harsh and critical on myself for doing such stupid shit. That day I slept off and on again, and slowly felt a bit better. I slept rather well that night and woke up the next morning feeling...changed.

Changes I have noted since the experience:
UNPRECEDENTED mental and visual clarity.
Sense of Joy and Fullness.
Sense of belonging to this life.
Connection with other humans and plants.
Good humor and laughter! More laughter in the last two weeks than the last two years!
General sense of lightness, like something spiritually heavy has been lifted.
Positive and grateful towards the future.
Interest in what I used to consider mundane details of the world (other people, machines, noises etc)
Ability to stay in my body, and BE PRESENT! THIS IS HUGE! NEVER BEFORE IN MY LIFE DO I REMEMBER REALLY FEELING LIKE I WAS ACTUALLY 'HERE'!

Since the initial dose, I recovered for about a week and then over the last week have been eating tiny pieces of dried cap before bed, 1 gram or less, and notice greater and greater physical energy and mental clarity. I believe what I puked up in the first healing was actually a form of mucus that had infected my insides, similar to candida or something (this would acount for my fatigue and could be attributed to the antibiotic properties of the mushroom).

I have also been incredibly congestion free (usually sinuses and throat are very mucusy this time of year) and feel that some kind of pressure that i normally have in my head during the fall/winter has been alleviated (possibly sinus).

Energized, positive, depression free, all in all, A BEAUTIFUL MIRACLE I WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFULL TO THIS SPIRIT FOR!

I would love any feedback from anyone regarding experience with taking small maintenance doses of Amanita for long term use.
How this would affect liver/kidney function, tolerance buildup, etc etc...

So far I believe this may be the most effective anti-depressant other than ayahuasca, but without the difficulty maintaining an MAOI friendly diet that maintanance dosing with vine requires....

Hell-Low from Heaven-High: I am author/publisher of MANNA the book documenting the Biblical use of Magic-Mushrooms. I hope I can find some friends here who share my interest.

Manna is the food-from-heaven provided by God to Israelites in the wilderness, according to the Bible the Israelites are said to have eaten Manna
My book Manna explores the evidence that Christ was the leader of a Pagan Cult teaching a renaissance of an ancient Egypt Mysticism kept secret by an elite caste of priests within the Jewish Rabbis until such a time as Christ came and taught it to the masses, resulting in accusations of blasphemy and the crucifixion of the first Christians.

Exodus 16:14-24 indicates that Manna was inevitably a mushroom.
It was a small round thing in the morning dew, it bred larva, and would melt to mush if not dried. King James Version.
All “wild” mushroom pickers know that mushrooms are most notorious for being infested with worms. This is because flies worldwide of all varieties lay their eggs up into the gills, which then hatch causing the larvae/worms to crawl out as the mushroom matures.

Daniel 5:3-5 with Exodus 16:32 and Hebrews 9:4
indicates that the mushroom was a drug. After sacking the temple in Jerusalem and stealing the Ark-of-the-Covenant, the King of Babylon and his table drank from the golden cup containing the holy “Manna” they had visions within the hour. Psilocybin mushrooms take 30-40 minutes to induce visions.

Hebrews 9:4 makes it clear that Manna was the most holy thing to Israelites, kept in a Pot-Of-Gold in the Ark Of The Covenant, in the Most Holy Of Holys. So sacred is the Manna that only the High Priest has access to it, and only on one day of the year Yom Kippur, which comes 3 days before the harvest moon AllHallowsEve.

Psalm 78:24-25 calls Manna Food Of Angels, just as Mayan/Inca Priests from Meso-America called it Teonanacatl Food Of The Gods.
Manna is an Egyptian word, not Hebrew or Aramaic, meaning;
The Bread of God. This is what Moses called it in Exodus 16:15.
“Bread Of God” means Food-Of-God, which is the same meaning of Teonanacatl (Mayan), and Ambrosia Greek, and Soma Hindu a word for mushroom tea, all these words mean “Spiritual Food”.
Coca and Tobacco Leaves found in Pharaohs tombs suggest it was ancestors of Mayan/Inca Priests who brought mushrooms to Egypt.

John 2:6-9 indicates that Jesus made water into wine by boiling mushrooms Mushroom-Tea, the waterpots were made of stone, not clay, stone pots were used for cooking, clay pots used for storing water. These pots already contained 2-3 firkins of a substance before the pots were filled with water.
A Firkin is an Old-English measurement meaning a fourth part. Half to three-quarters of fresh mushrooms with water makes a potent tea. Tea is the safest way to consume field mushrooms, killing dangerous bacteria like E. Coli. In the Atharva Veda, the Hindus called this Tea Soma. Greeks called mushroom jelly Ambrosia.
Those who drank the water made into wine said it was the most potent intoxicant St. John 2:10. The Bible tells us that Jesus making water into wine was the “beginning of miracles” … in other words no one saw any miracles until drinking the wine made from water. St. John 2:11.

Certainly for the Israelites Egypt was the origin of Manna, which explains why all the Patriarchs of Israel were educated in Egypt, Moses, Christ, and Joseph The favorite son of Israel, were all educated in Egypt. Solomon married Pharaoh’s daughter, and Abraham found his God at a place called Shechem, which is another Egyptian word for Manna.
Teonanacatl [Maya]
Soma [Hindu]
Ambrosia or Broma-Theon [Greek]
Manna [Egyptian, Israelite]
It can be no coincidence that the Mayan, Egyptian, Greek, Hindu, and Israelite words for the mushroom all mean exactly the same thing: The Bread Of God.

Manna was round, was found on the ground in the dew, would melt to mush if not dried or collected on time, and would breed larvae. All unique characteristics of mushrooms. When dried it was like “wafers of bread” and it’s color was like “coriander seed”, the consistency and color of dried mushrooms, as described in Exodus Ch. 16.

THE TASTE OF PSILOCYBIN

This same passage speaks of Manna as tasting like honey.
(Ex 16:31)- “And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna; and it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey” -(Ex 16:31). In Palanque Mexico where Psilocybe Cubensis grows year round in pastures that surround the pyramids I learned that honey is an age old way of preserving mushrooms, by immersing them in the honey, the water-soluble psilocybin then leaches into the honey as it is heated at a low temperature over several days, the mushrooms can then be strained out, making “Blue-Honey” which explains not only why Manna was said to taste of honey, but also explains the sweet tasting jelly-like elixir of the Greeks called “Ambrosia”.

Later in Numbers 11:6-9 we are told that Manna tasted of fresh oil, which is perhaps a better description of the taste of “fresh” mushrooms not preserved in honey or by drying. We are also told that Manna was baked into cakes, which is another means of preserving mushrooms so they won’t spoil, and also a safety measure ensuring that dangerous E. Coli (and other germs from dung) bacteria are killed off, just as with boiling the mushrooms to make mushroom tea. Also another reason for making a powder out of mushrooms is that after making mushroom tea and straining the tea from the mushrooms there is a blackish residue of boiled mushrooms leftover, this residue is very weak due to most of the Psilocybin and Psilocin having been extracted into the water, but there is still some psychoactive content left. Because Manna is a holy sacrament it stands to reason that none should be wasted, and that any residue should then be dried out, pulverized into powder, and then baked into cakes for future use.
I am also wondering about the wine. Am I understanding you correct in that you can keep pouring a little of the wine into a fresh bottle of grape juice and the mycelium will continue growing, etc? I have grown the manchurian mushroom in black tea and sugar in this way so I'm wondering if the mycelium does in fact continue with the amenita as well.

I don't remember there being any mention of the ferment being boiled before use. But from what i understand, the ibotenic acid does not get converted to muscimol until heated near boiling point.

I was wondering if anyone knew if the ibotenic/muscimol conversion could happen another way, maybe through a reaction with alcohol which might be produced as a result of fermentation, or maybe even through the bacteria that are responsible for the fermentation.

I remember reading a post on Erowid where the poster would preserve FRESH Amanita in Brandy and later consume, and his experiences seem to be the same as the effects of the wine. (I can put up the whole post if more info is needed)

So i'm wondering if alcohol can be a catalyst for ibotenic/muscimol conversion.

I stumbled across this amanita wine stuff on the shroomery about a month ago and followed the trail from mycotopia to entheogen.com then to here.

As it is just coming into mushroom season in my hemisphere I kept my eyes open when I went riding today and sure enough the first of the autumn fly agarics were making their presence known.

I picked 2 healthy looking mushrooms about palm size (the dinner plate sizes don't show up until a couple of weeks from now). Then I poured about a litre of grape juice into a large preserving jar with 1.5ml of 6% h202. Then I chopped up the cap of one of the mushrooms with a pair of sissors and chucked it on top of the grape juice where it is floating quite happily. Then I covered the jar with some tyvek.

I will post an update in three days, sooner if there is anything to report. I'm hoping the h202 will keep any fermentation at bay until the myc has colonised the grape juice.

Use of hallucinogenic substances in ancient religions

The ritual use of hallucinogenic substances has been widely documented for various shamanic cults of Asian, American and African culture. In the so-called major religions hallucinogens have also been found to play a relevant role in ritualistic practice. Some hymns of the Rig Veda for instance, were composed under the influence of a plant called soma, which, according to ethnobotanic studies, has been identified as the mushroom Amanita muscaria, commonly known as fly-agaric [1]. The use of soma in early Indian religion spread to ancient Iran: actually, in Zoroastrianism an intoxicating substance, haoma, was used in rites as a drink, and also in this case researchers suggest that haoma was extracted from the fly-agaric [2]. Most probably, the practice of ingesting hallucinogenic substances in order to reach ecstasy and have visions during religious ceremonies later also influenced Jewish sacerdotal environments, in particular during the first and second deportation of the Jewish people in Babilonia (597 B.C. and 587-520 B.C., respectively). The experience of captivity probably allowed some Jewish sacerdotal groups to become acquainted with and then use particular religious practices that influenced prophetism (cf. the books of Ezekiel and Zechariah in the Bible) and apocalypticism (cf. the books of Daniel in the Bible, and Enoch and Ezra of the Old Testament Pseudepigrapha). These practices bore typical features of ecstatic experiences induced by hallucinogens (cf. Ezekiel 1-3; Ezra 9:23-28). Religious habits in early Christianity had so many things in common with early Judaism, and in particular with apocalypticism [3], that a transmission of the techniques to reach ecstasy and visions from early Judaism to early Christianity is most likely to have occurred. Philological studies of the past suggested that some early Christian groups also made use of Amanita muscaria as a hallucinogenic substance during specific religious rites [4]. This hypothesis has been vigorously contested [5], in particular because no historical data were said to be available in order to support it.

Hallucinogenic mushrooms in the Basilica of Aquileia

However, it is my purpose to add further relevant data to corroborate this interesting hypothesis, by bringing new evidence in favour of it. In the worship hall of the ancient Basilica of Aquileia, which is located towards the north of the church, measures 37 meters long and 17 meters wide and dates back to a period before 330 A.D. [6], a beautiful mosaic is very likely to attest to the habit of ingesting mushrooms during early Christian religious ceremonies. Aquileia lies in the northern part of the Adriatic Sea where Italy borders on Slovenia, some 5 km from the coast along a canalized river and about 100 km from Venice.

Plan of the northern hall of the ancient basilica of Aquileia with the mosaics of the first Christian church dating back to a period before 330 A.D. The arrow and circle show the location of the two baskets containing mushrooms and snails. A large proportion of the mosaic has been destroyed with the construction of the church tower (T) erected in the 11th century A.D.

It was founded by the Romans in the 3rd century B.C. and by the 1st century A.D. it was a strategically important military harbour and a flourishing trade centre, counting about 200,000 inhabitants. This town had tight cultural and commercial links with Rome and Alexandria in Egypt, the most important economic and cultural centres at that time, and hosted a large Jewish community [7]. In the oratory of the northern hall (Fig. 1), the most ancient part of the whole basilica, the floor mosaic depicts, among a variety of other objects, animals and symbols, two baskets: one containing red mushrooms and the other nine snails (Fig. 2 and 3). An epigraph in the mosaic states that the oratory was part of a building which was used for religious ceremonies.

Part of the Aquileian mosaic showing the basket with mushrooms. There are at least eight exemplars with dark red caps and typical characteristics of the type Amanita muscaria. Since these mushrooms are contained in a basket some scholars [8] suggest that this is a hint for their use during ceremonies as edible substances and not as mere ornamental patterns.

Part of the Aquileian mosaic showing the basket with snails, most probably of the type Helix (Helix) cincta. Also in this case the presence of a basket suggests that snails were eaten during religious ceremonies probably together with mushrooms.

Its words are: Ianuariu(s) ... de Dei dono v(ovit) p(edes) DCCCLXXX (...), which means that Ianuarius contributed with his money, God's gift, to the costs of 880 feet (26 square meters) of mosaic flooring. It has been suggested that the two baskets containing edible plants and animals hint at ritual meals and agapae enjoyed by early Christians in places of worship [8]. In the basket full of mushrooms there are at least eight exemplars with dark red caps scattered with pale orange mosaic tesserae and white radiating gill-shaped lamellae in the undersurface of the caps. On the basis of the colour and the form of these mushrooms, it is reasonable to suggest that these are fungi of the type Amanita muscaria. Just besides the mushrooms there is a second basket containing nine snails of the type Helix (Helix) cincta, which can be found also nowadays in the fields around Aquileia.
In the 4th century A.D. the mosaic floor of the northern hall was completely covered by the pavement of a new church and only after about 1,500 years, at the beginning of the present century, were the mosaics of the first Christian church in Aquileia unveiled again [9]. By remaining covered for such a long time, the mosaic did not suffer from deterioration and rehandlings by other artists, thus preserving a unique iconography of early Christianity. Illustrations of mushrooms and snails are quite unusual within Christian iconography. Snails were a very common food among the ancient Romans, who ate them also during funeral banquets, because these hibernating animals were symbolically related to burials and resurrection [10]. In addition, the Romans were particularly familiar with snail-breeding techniques, knowing that the way they fed these animals determined their taste and postprandial effects. Amanita muscaria, a hallucinogenic mushroom commonly growing in vast areas of Europe and Asia, is part of the typical vegetation of the Carnic Alps around the territory of Aquileia. The ingestion of 1 to 4 fly-agarics may induce an intense feeling of joy and excitation with a reduction of the sense of fatigue and an enhancement of verbal production. By taking in more pieces (5 to 9), subjetcs first become very agitated and have vivid hallucinations, then they fall in a narcotic-cataleptic state, characterized by a deep sleep, from which they cannot be roused, and a very intense dreaming activity [11]. The psychotropic activity elicited by this mushroom mainly depends on the agent muscimol, which is an agonist of the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) [12]. Muscimol has the highest affinity for the GABA receptors with a weak activity at GABAB receptors, thus being able to modify cerebral excitability in general and in particular motor, emotional and cognitive activities, which are controlled by the basal ganglia and the frontal lobes [13, 14].
Since the assumption of Amanita muscaria may cause gastroenteric symptoms (e.g. nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain), most probably these complications were avoided with simple precautions: Instead of directly eating the mushrooms, it was good practice to first feed snails with these mushrooms for several days and then eat the snails. By doing so, the active hallucinogenic substances contained in Amanita muscaria could be ingested without having nasty gastroenteric side effects. A similar practice is also known among Siberian shamans, who have hallucination experiences after eating the meat of reindeer feeding on Amanita muscaria [15].

Conclusions

The presence of mosaic illustrations in the basilica of Aquileia representing mushrooms with psychotropic properties indicates that some religious rites of early Christianity, which were probably linked to mysterial cults meant to be kept secret, were related to the ingestion of hallucinogenic substances facilitating mystic ecstasy. It still remains to be seen, however, whether these ecstatic techniques were a common heritage of all early Christian churches or whether they were known and practiced only within some heretic groups of Christians. Roman authorities repeatedly accused early Christians of practicing sorcery by using hallucinogenic substances (Origen, Contra Celsum, I,68; VI,38) [16]. However, Irenaeus (130-200 A.D.) bishop of Lyon, maintained that only heretic churches, thus also the gnostic churches, made use of hallucinogens within magic rites (Irenaeus, Adversus Haereses, I,13-15; I,24-25) [17].
The identification of pictures reproducing hallucinogenic mushrooms in the premises of an ancient Christian church may help us to understand some aspects of those mysterious rites or of the so-called "discipline of the arcanum" [18] characterizing the most ancient Christian liturgy that, by definition, had to be kept secret and handed down orally to initiated disciples only.

Schwartz (Haoma and Harmaline, University of California Press, Berkeley, 1989) claimed that haoma was not obtained from the mushroom Amanita muscaria, but rather from Peganum harmala, a plant containing a strong psychoactive alkaloid, i.e. harmaline. As the authors report, this hypothesis had been suggested to them by Dr. Claudio Naranjo (pp. 23-25) who described the hallucinogenic effects he himself experienced after ingesting a drink containing harmaline. In addition, Naranjo denies having felt any effect after eating some pieces of Amanita muscaria which he had gathered in California (personal communication). However, it is well known that the concentration of psychoactive agents in Amanita muscaria significantly differs according to the place and the season of gathering. On the other hand, the hallucinogenic effects of this mushroom as well as their variability in concentration have been widely recognized already in the first systematic, scientific papers on hallucinogenic substances (See Lewin, L. Phantastika - Die betäubenden und erregenden Genussmittel, Verlag G. Stilke, Berlin, 1924).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi everyone
This is the email I sent to the Governor of Louisiana.
Have a great day.
Don

To the Governor of the State of Louisiana

>From Donald E. Teeter
Founder of the Ambrosia Society
Author of
The Sacred Secret: The Return of the Christ
Natural Magic; Recreating the Grail
Amanita Muscaria; Herb of Immortality

Dear Governor

I am very troubled by the recent passage of HLS 05RS-52 by the
Louisiana State Legislature and signed by you, criminalizing the
possession of Amanita muscaria. This Bill clearly violates the
separation of Church and State clause in the first Amendment of the
Bill of Rights. I cannot believe that the members of the Louisiana
State Legislature would knowingly vote for a Bill that would be a
violation of the First Amendment Right of Religious Freedom of the
citizens of Louisiana.
Only the Legislature and the Governor's lack of critical information
could explain this horrible mistake, had this information been
presented to the Legislature before the vote, I am sure that Amanita
muscaria could not, have been included.
The common forest mushroom Amanita muscaria is one of the worlds
oldest religious Sacraments. Over the thousands of years of it's
religious use it has received hundreds of names. It is the "Soma" of
the Vedas, the "Ambrosia" and "Nectar" of Greek Mythology, and more
familiar to us as the Biblical "Fruit of the Tree of Life', and the
"Eucharist" of Christianity. Many Christian sects, ancient and modern,
believe that Amanita muscaria is the "Christ", also known as, the
"living God", the "Living bread', the "bread from Heaven", a "living
stone", the "Fruit of the Tree of Life", the "Lamb of God", the
"fountain of the waters of Life" etc. As the "Son of God" the Amanita
muscaria mushroom is literally the Sacramental Flesh and Blood of an
Immortal Living God. Whose virgin birth, turning water to wine,
healing the sick, and it's physical resurrection in three days
accurately describes the Amanita muscaria mushrooms life cycle and
their religious use. The physical resurrection of Amanita muscaria
after being kept dry for years and the ability to then live and grow
in a simple terra cotta cup is the secret of the Holy Grail. Many
modern Pagans and Wicca also believe Amanita muscaria is an ancient
Sacrament handed down for countless generations. While many followers
of Hermetic beliefs also revere Amanita muscaria as the Divine Healing
God Hermes, a simple fact those who sit in seats of power in Masonic
Temples should always remember.
"The Sacred Secret: The Return of the Christ" Library of Congress #
2001118188 was published in 2001; it contains my public declaration
that Amanita muscaria is my religious Sacrament. I founded the
Ambrosia Society in 2003, to serve the ancient Amanita muscaria
Sacrament to all who wish to taste the honey sweet knowledge of Divinity.
I have presented this information to you to increase your knowledge
and to remove any possible excuse based on ignorance. Do not take my
word for this, as a few hours of Internet research will show the
overwhelming amount of information on the Sacramental use of Amanita
muscaria. Talk privately with Professors of Comparative Religion at
any Roman Catholic college, as many of them know the ancient secret of
the Sacrament, a secret they will not divulge publicly.
The Government of Louisiana has no right to determine which religious
beliefs it considers valid. In fact, the First Amendment to the Bill
of Rights specifically prohibits the Government of Louisiana from
making any decisions concerning the religious beliefs of its citizens.
Thus, the State of Louisiana has no jurisdiction or legal authority to
interfere in any way with the people's religious use of Amanita muscaria.
As the Chief Executive Officer of the State of Louisiana, you have a
sworn legal duty to protect your citizens from the enforcement of
unconstitutional statutes. As Governor, you also have the power to
require the State Legislature to rewrite this Statute excluding
Amanita muscaria from any unconstitutional governmental interference.
Honestly Governor; do you want your historical legacy to be the
renewed persecution of Christians? The renewed persecution of Pagans
and Wicca's? The renewed persecution of Hermeticists and Alchemists?
Do you really wish to be numbered with the Roman Emperors who used the
legal power of the state, to kill, torture and imprison thousands of
innocent people, for the "crime" of using the ancient Sacrament?

Sincerely
Donald E. Teeter

He is very wise, humble, compassionate, and funny. He is a down-to-Earth shaman (excuse the pun), possessing a vision and ambition with the purest intentions. He is a teacher, but remains a student. The impression I receive from Vince, is that of someone who enjoys experiencing life and learning with his peers as much (if not more) as we enjoy learning with him.

I wanted to ask about the best ways to prepare Amanita Muscaria.

I picked my own last year and dried them out and ate them in that form - with mixed results. Since then I have had what I think is a calling from the mushroom - repeated dreams and images and a strong fascination with all things Amanita. The 'grove' where I picked them last year has become a sort of pilgrimidge spot which I visit most days when walking with my dog. I sort of feel like its custodian (its in a public area) so I do a lot of tidying up of litter and generally make sure it retains (for me ) a sacred space around it.

Since then I have done a lot of reading ( only came across Donald Teeter when joining this tribe so not read him yet).

However, when I read about Gordon Wasson I remember reading that although he believed Amanita Muscaria to indeed be 'Soma' - he could not replicate the ecstatic experiences himself - to the point where he wondered if Western man was biologically inhibited from reacting to the mushroom.

Do you have any tips on advice on how to prepare the mushroom once harvested?

Also I saw a book on the net by 'Hawk' and "Venus' called 'Soma Shamans" that looked interesting - Has anyone read that at all?

Best wishes

*Somewhat of a long read*
---

11-12 oz. Dried Amanita Caps
3-4 bowls Gold Ole Ganja

Like stated before, this was my first time trying the Amanitas. I ordered them online, and received an ounce the next couple of days. I had planned previously on the location and details, eventually arriving at the idea of finding a campsite (figuring it would be an hour away or so). I planned on building a fire and sitting with camp chairs watching all the fire illuminated.

We were supposed to leave town around 1 in the afternoon...and of course my friend had to change plans a little bit, going snowmobiling at getting back in town at 6! This definitely put a damper on things, as it was already almost dark. The time did feel right though, and we set off well prepared and driving towards where HE thought there were some campgrounds. Now, I live in Idaho and were known for the outdoors/camping shit...etc. I told him I wanted to find one set back in the trees, that felt secure and safe.

All of the details of my "dream location" probably came from when I was a kid and the camping I did with my family, there were amazing memories and a sense of innocence attached to them. We really didn't know where we were going, and as we started to drive pulled out some amazing mj. A few different kinds of high quality herb. Having not smoked in a couple of weeks, the effects were definitely heightened...and I immediately begin to feel the blocks being pulled from my intelligence...and the ideas and theories started to flow. We were listening to various Shpongle/ Infected Mushrooms...which seemed to fit for the occasion.

As with anytime I smoke herb, I get a sense of the "basics." The reality really cut down to size and the monetary and city stuff "stripped off." I realized this especially as we started to enter woody areas, and saw the city lights in the distance. I told my friend Will "this is why people camp man, its like going to a safe refuge, people must go out here to be one with nature and use her beautiful tools and mind candy." See the city lights, this is where to STAY AWAY from...the animals and the "tribes" if they existed knew this purple light in the sky meant decay and evilness and greed. STay away.

Insanely enough, I was driving and he was telling me where to go...he had a better knowledge of the outdoors...and dejavu kicks in...this is the same road i went down with my family like 10 years ago! And I am most sure of it! The road follows around, and things become more familiar...remember, he is telling me where to go. The music feels like it is penetrating my body from both sides...the bass is soaking in to me and pulling back out like it is a sort of "liquid static."

At this point we eat the Amanitas...at first roughly 6 grams a piece. 10 minutes later we arrive at THE SAME DAMN CAMP SPOT AS A KID! I know it might sound trivial, but keep in mind, there are probably 100 to 150 camp sites and locations in a 30 mile radius...and MY FRIEND MADE EVERY DECISION ON WHERE TO TURN AND I JUST WENT WITH THE FLOW.

Backing up into the trees, we were very influenced by miss Jane. We backed up into sort of a cove where there were branches on each side. Will said "dude, pull up a little your in the tree." I looked out my window and the trees branches, at an angle, were pressed against my door. I told him, and knew of this fact, that nature is here to help. It always has been. No different than the magic sun ray infused mushrooms were eating is the tree "hugging" us with its tiny little branches making us secure and safe. The small branches acting like fingers to keep us in. The term "tree hugger" took on a different meaning.

Some time had past and we decided to eat more of the shrooms...feeling like they hadn't kicked in enough. (Obviously the mj made time slow WAY down...and it had only been like a half hour.) We consumed them slowly for the next two hours until both getting about 11 or 12 ounces. I will tell you right now that mj DOES help. I disagree with people flat out saying "it doesn't help with the nausea at all!" because for some it may. To be honest I predicted the gut wrenching pain and throwing up, which I or my friend experienced NONE of. It could be that you need to smoke before and during for the benefits.

Anyways, with the lights on we could see the lit trees. Stepping out and looking up at the trees was put simply Incredible. They were so huge and it made me feel tiny. Not insignificant though, just small. I had a new respect for whats been here far longer than any of us...nature. We tried to go get firewood but everything was still too green, finally breaking one long branch and just sticking it in a bush to be help up high like a flag.? I wanted nature to know she reigned here and that we knew who supported who.

Now almost two hours into the trip and I thought they were not working. I had respect to just let them do what they would do, but still I felt as if these weren't powerful enough. I laid my head back against my seat to just "forget about it" and it was then that the most amazing feeling took over. It felt as if when I swayed my head back and forth (eyes closed) that my body was a sold piece made somewhat digitally, and my head was a separate piece that glided along my shoulders. It sounds confusing but basically I did not have the same feeling of my body. It felt like the small static pins and needles made from electricity and static were holding up my head and making the gliding effortless.

Things did start to "breathe." Its as if the trees we were looking at swelled. I felt that we had become more aware of nature, and its beings, and the breathing was to show us it is all alive and with a conscience. I had a weird sense that "littering" wasn't a bad thing. Now understand, I picked everything up when we left...but i honestly felt the trees influencing me to drop the notebook paper out of my window so it could join its "family." I felt to be on the same level as animals, that we were all just conscience beings in nature...I was no better than them.

It felt as if the mushrooms were put by god on the earth and were the ONLY substance that would absorb the sun lights heavenly energy. I understood it completely. I took of my shoes and started moving my feet to the music. The feeling of my feet against my shoes was bizarre. If felt, i had no feet or legs for that matter. I felt reality WAS created, and just like sound effects are made from the sounds of dropping things in studios and such, my feet moving was just the feeling of someone kicking around small wooden blocks and then the "feeling" being injected into my brain.

At this point my whole body was suspended. I could feel the reality of life. My chair wasn't holding me up, yet the fibers in the chair were from nature, and Nature was supporting me. My eyes were closed and I went into another dimension. One were only electric feelings were felt. Like i was part of a large electric grid and so was my car, my friend, my orange juice. Moving my body felt amazing. There was support everywhere and the sensations gathered into just a few locations on my feet, head etc. I could not feel my body besides these, and these then were amplified. This lead me to the invert, which helped me understand why marijuana is prescribed to patients for medicinal use. The THC makes my whole body feel a "slight pain," as if one central pain could be dispersed into a thin layer covering my whole body. I saw this all in the electric field, as if it was being explained to me.

My mind was running a million miles a second and I was talking like it was. I recorded a bit on my friends phone and later took a listen to it. I was speaking CLEARLY at more than 4 times normal speed. I HAD to slow it down to understand it on my computer, but when i did it was perfect English with perfect annunciation.

My body at times felt the thickness of two inches flat all the way, and at times bubbly and huge, being a few feet thick. My clothes became part of me...as they were nature's life combining with mine. People say "at one with the universe" and i knew what they meant. I did start to see the music coming out of my CD player. It was bizarre...my mind visualizing what energy and form it would have like half a second before it came out and then seeing it thinking i in know why constructed it...or maybe I didn't.

I was so tired at this point i decided to sleep a bit...this was most likely a mistake I know. It was after six or so hours though so i thought the trip was over. It really seemed as if I had only reached the first and part of the second stage. The body high and the dreamy. I do feel i will try more of the mushroom if i get it from the same vendor. All in all it was an amazing trip...but unfortunately i believe the mushrooms just enhanced the Mj, not the other way around. Fortunately though, i felt NO discomfort at all, none. These two plants work very well together. Sorry for the length...you know how your mind rambles :)

Any advice on how much to try next time? Any other tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If you look at the culture pictures in our Yahoo group pictures section,
http://ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/Amanita_muscaria/photos/browse/e23b
then you will see that in some of the close up pictures, the mycelium
is billowing white fibrous growth. It can rise 2 inches off the top
of bread or juice. If left too long the top layer of this then turns
black. Upon microscopic analysis it is obvious that only the tips of
the mycelium have the black and upon even further inspection it is
obvious that the black is not spores, but huge sacks of spores and
when any sack is broken a multitude of clear spores pop out. So we
have clear spores inside a dark spore sack.

If you notice Mr. Teeters wording above, he says that it will turn
black with a massive amount of spores. He does not say that the
spores are black, cause they are not, but when bunched together
hundreds in a sack they tend to block light from passing through the
conglomerate of spores and also the outer layer of the sack darkens
upon overexposure to UV rays to possibly protect the clear spores inside.

Aside from the spores not being black, the culture produced according
to Mr. Teeters work produces massive amounts of white fibrous mycelia
possibly exceeding 99% or more of its mass.

Correct me if I am wrong, but black mucor (bread mold) produces no
fibrous mycelia, let alone massive quantities of white fibrous mycelia.

Add to this the simple fact that upon thousands of cultures and
hundreds of variations on these cultures and untold controlled
experiments with control group cultures on many mediums, the only time
this particular looking, tasting, smelling, body and mind altering
culture will grow is after the inoculation with Amanita muscaria or a
subsequent culture of the same. Usually in 24 to 48 hours with the
newest methods, 3 days with earlier variations of Mr. Teeters
processes. In no test or control group has this occurred, no matter
what the variables without the presence of Amanita muscaria or a
culture from it. If this was the common black mucor, a bread mold,
then we would not be able to keep it out of many of these control
groups of media. Instead, we can't get it to grow no matter how we
try, until we inoculate with the Amanita muscaria or a culture from it.

I hope this will once and for all dispel anybody's concerns that this
could possibly be black mucor as has been recklessly thrown out there
time and time again, with no proof or scientific data or even a well
written argument as to why the poster is so certain of what they say

Hello everybody

This post is in part to answer some questions that have come up
here, and to introduce into our conversations the concept of reductionist
thinking and how it has inherent flaws and has a built in limiter as
to what it can and can not prove.

Albert Einstein, the famous American theoretical physicist once said
that, "Imagination is more important than knowledge, for knowledge is
limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world......
stimulating progress, or giving birth to evolution......

Reductionist scientific thinking only can base its ideas on what it
thinks it has known and discovered in the past. It is very bad at
coming to new information and does so kicking and screaming along the
way, shooting arrows in the backs of pioneers who would question the
established status quo of ideas. History has proved this time and
time again. Hold on, I must pluck another one of those arrows from my
back side as I speak. :-)

Reductionist thinking looks very closely at the infinitesimally small
pieces, so closely that the bigger picture is never seen.
Reductionist thinking can be said to be linear or vertically stacked
knowledge, as opposed to lateral thinking, the kind which can connect
the dots of a previously unrecognizable picture.

Let us apply these considerations to our current questions at hand
regarding Amanita muscaria and Don Teeter's work. If what we have
here is a previously unidentified form of growth, possibly even a
simple form of a higher fungi, and a previously unknown (to lab techs)
method of cultivating Amanita muscaria, then all the testing in the
world done to ID it according to what is already known will prove to
be of no avail.

Because of direct first hand experimentation by many people who have
done Don's experiments, it is VERY obvious that we are dealing with
something not very text book as far as its growth patterns and it is
directly tied to exposure to Amanita muscaria tissue. Bio-assays of
this material have confirmed for multitudes of people that it is or is
very much similar to Amanita muscaria in its effects.

To quote Don Teeter, "Mycology already has
such a bad record identifying polymorphic Basidiomycetes mycelium that
even if the mycelium produced by A muscaria was identified
microscopically as a simple fungus by the best lab in the world, it
still would prove nothing, since that named simple fungus could
actually be a misidentified polymorph of A muscaria. Would you spend
any money on microscopic tests of the A muscaria cultures, knowing the
background of misidentification already present in the science?"

Taking this one step further. Even if a positive ID was made, this
proves nothing regarding the question of if the ancients were using
Amanita muscaria, and cultivating this secondary fungus for its life
and health and spiritual properties. That is the big picture that the
reductionist line of inquisition cannot even address. That is the
meat of what this group is about and what Don's work expounds on.
That is what others now can recreate due to Don Teeters publishing
these rediscovered ideas and methods for all to see and do follow up
on and draw their own conclusions about.

We are sharing information here that we believe to be ground breaking.
We encourage others to participate in this endeavor. We have no need
to prove a, b, or c point according to any reductionistic line of
inquiry, as I am more focused more upon the bigger picture of what is
going on here and its' striking and uncanny similarities to the Gods
described in ancient text. These are questions a lab tech really has
no interest in at all and cannot answer for us, no matter how much
money we send them.

If anybody else wishes to have this or that testing done, nobody has
ever tried to stop them, and in fact it has been encouraged time and
time again, but to insist it is my responsibility to do so, as has been
stated in the Yahoo group I manage on this topic is nonsense. My
focus is broader at this time as it has been since this
group was founded.

Sincerely
I do not have a research team. Unless me, myself, and I counts.

> Your third problem seems to consist of disagreements over the
> speculated identification.

I am just the moderator on this topic and list and if people make
reckless claims that obviously fly in the face of what we already
know, then I will point it out. This is not my research and I did not
write any books on this topic, so I do not feel bound to go pay for
everybody's answers that they seem so unnerved at times to acquire,
and in the absence of answers make derogatory posts about the entire
body of work as has happened.

> One more thing: Since YOU are making the unlikely claim
> (unverified identification based on an unlikely growth pattern),

I make no claims, just debate boisterously at times what this book and
these theories make clear.

This unlikely growth pattern as you put it may be exactly what we need
to focus on. Why do you call it unlikely, cause it does not fit
common expectations of what people are looking for. New ground is
still today being broken by the mycological world (no pun intended)
regarding asexual reproduction of the Basidiomycetes class of fungi
which Amanita muscaria is a member of.

There was a time in the last millennia when many educated people
expected your boat to fall off the edge of the world if you sailed to
far west from europe. It is possible that the Amanita fits into its
own subclass of fungi with its remarkable and unexpected (to the
educated man) growth patterns.

> YOU have the burden of proof.

I have no burden of proof. I know that Amanita muscaria produces
cultures constituted of primarily white fibrous mycelia on the right
media. I know this product when ingested replicates the effects of
Amanita muscaria. I do not have to prove that, anybody who wishes to
recreate these experiments can easily do so after reading Mr. Teeters
work.

> Claiming that the dark fungal
> hyphae cannot be Mucor does not verify that it isn't,

The presence of white fibrous mycelia constituting over 99% of the
culture absolutely proves that it is not mucor, as mucor NEVER follows
this growth pattern.

> nor does it
> support your claim that it is Amanita.

Do I anywhere say it is Amanita, or do I say it is a culture produced
from Amanita. These 2 are not the same. Even Mr. Teeter acknowledges
that this may not be a pure culture, but that has never been the
point. The point is that we may have stumbled upon the secret method
the ancients used to take a small amount of a life giving fungi and
turn it into an endless supply of a culture with the same effects as
the fungi. The descriptions fit very well when looking at the lab
results and then reading the description used in the ancient texts. I
do not think the ancients would give a bleep about our mycological
debate, as they would be reaching for another glass of a life giving
drink or cake of living bread, not caring what we are hung up on at
times in this group

> The fact that Amanita was used as an inoculant may lend some
> evidence, but not nearly
> enough, since the unlikelihood is so great.

The unlikely hood of what is so great?

Beaudha, tell us your experiences.

Kaqulja ikox, how'd it go with that amanita extract? have you tried it, yet?

I myself, have had many wonderous experiences with Amanitas. Eating them oatmeal, drinking the wine, eating the Manna bread. Most recently however, I've had bronchitis this week. So yesterday, I went ahead and poured off some of wine and drank it. I forgot to mention that Amanitas are also incredibly powerful anti-biotics, anti-viral, and anti-parasitic mushrooms. Being that no plants have an immune system, all green-leafed plants have a symbitotic relationship with fungi, which provide these anti-biotic agents to the plants, in exchange for carbohydrates and fnourishment to grow.

Anyway, I was extemly sick Tuesday, so I drank an ounce of Goldenseal extract throughout the day while drinking some herbal teas that help with allergies and sinus problems. Yesterday, when I wooke up I was feeling somewhat better, but worse at the same time. I had caught the illness in time and didn't let it get worse. To finish off the job, I drank some yesterday, and began feeling better within an hour. When I woke up this morning I felt 90% better, can feel that the infection (bacterial or viral)has been neutralized (not killed, you have to think in terms of chemistry). Today I'm just coughing my lungs up, exuding the infection from my body. I'm trying not to sound gross, but that means all the discolored mucus is being rejected by my body and I'm coughing and sneezing it up.

So, this brings up another interesting fact about the Herb of Immortality. Ressurecting in three days, and having the ability to cure the sick. It's no wonder why the ancients revered this mushroom as a God.

This is an incredible turnout for a tribe that's been live for only 11 hours. I'm really excited :)

I created this tribe after having the unique opportunity of working with ethnobotaist/mycologist/author Donald E. Teeter. He's been studying the Amanita for many years. Through extensive research and experiments, Mr. Teeter has uncovered the lost knowledge and ancient alchemy of Amanita Muscaria, also known as "Soma" and 107 other Sanskrit names.

It has been a myth for about a hundred years or so (since the beginning of mycology), that one cannot grow or cultivate Amanita Muscaria. We now know that this is inaccurate. Mushrooms are the fruit of the fungus, whereas it's mycelium would be considered it's root system and actual "plant" one might say. Mr. Teeter has found it possible, in fact anyone can do it, to regrow the mycelium. With this mycelium, you can grow it in grape juice, or on barley grains, which will end up being chock-full of ibotenic acid. Ibotenic acid is found in fresh AM specimens. When dried, the Ibotenic Acid decarboxylizes into Muscimol, the psychoactive constituent of AM. Ibotenic Acid that you grow in grape juice, or whichever medium you choose, can be heated to convert it into Muscimol. You are now left with Muscimol Juice, that tastes great, and gives some of the most curious and fascinating experiences. The experience can be as mild as cannabis, or could become psychadelic, depending upon the potency and how much you drink. I forgot to mention, that when grown on barley grains, you can then make bread out of it. Since the mycelium grows larger in the grape juice and barley grains, you then can take that mycelium to innoculate more juice or grains, and can continue to do this over and over. This is why the ancients called it the The Immortal God.

Now, this has raised a great debate and question about Jesus and Christ. It is obvious to me, that this is how Jesus made The Living Bread, capable of making thousands of loaves of bread. It also makes sense how one could turn water into wine.

In Donald E. Teeter's book: "Amanita Muscaria; Herb of Immortality", the author explores these matters. Giving many examples, references, and almost un-deniable theories about every major religion.

If we are all sparks of The Divine, how can one be seperated as "The Annointed One"? Why did Jesus speak of The Christ in third person? In my opinion, if we are all emanations of God, the only true "prophets" (God on Earth) are sacraments.

These are subjects that I am ecstatic about exploring with all of you. This ancient knowledge goes much deeper than I can post on one thread. I hope to help everyone create their own Holy Grail, Amanita Wine, Soma, and gain input from everyone in an open discussion.

Like I said, this is a basic intro. I would love to hear what everyone else knows about amanitas.

My revelation was when i visualised a scene when someone (a monk) made that signal that priests do joining both hands in prey and then i kept saying in my mind "my image and resemblance".... then i noticed, the monk (me) was the image of a MUSHROOM! this was in a divine state of altered realities that i will not go into detail at present post but the 'experience' called me to find some special, religious, mushroom... that started my quest.... now i find this beautiful place, and having some sacred specimens dried here i decided to see the holly re-born in the juice of the grapes, and for my surprise and delait i see micelia growing after trying just my second juice, first was non alchoolic wine that may had been treated with some fungicide, as some cereal i did try to grow it on... well i need to state that i first grown it myself before finding this place, it grew on AYAHUASCA heheeh indeed, by accident... i can state that mimosa ayahuasca is a good media (excelent for anti molding properties, im impressed that it grew on it)... well to be honest i did not experienced the result of that wierd 'somahuasca' ;) God gave me, but i intend to do it soon and then i may post some lines, greetings all tribe! im a happy newcommer to that enlightened vicinity.... i will sit near the fire, and stay arround... cya

Evidence of the worship of (nonalcoholic) Haoma-Soma in Iran and India (identified by Wasson as Amanita muscaria) can be found in Greece and its neighboring lands. While Iranian and India peoples preserved their original worship in their final settlements, Indo-European tribes, including the Thracians, the Phrygians, and the Greeks, after settling in Europe and Asia Minor, abandoned their ancestral worship of Soma (Sabazios) and substituted the Semitic (alcoholic) Dionysos. However, they retained traces of the original Soma worship in Dionysiac rituals. This modified Dionysiac worship spread throughout the Western world. Six formal criteria are used to establish the identify of Soma with Dionysos (Sabazios): (1) both cults had the same aim (to cause ecstatic behavior); (2) both cults required the attainment of the same spiritual state (purity); (3) both cults had an idiosyncratic myth in common; (4) both cults showed the identical word root in the name of the worshipped god; (5) both cults had identical zoological and botanical associations with their god; and (6) the alcoholic god (Dionysos) was depicted as having the same physical effects on human beings as that of the ancient nonalcoholic god (Soma).

So here it goes:

Humans have a symbitotic relationship to mushrooms. According to one anthropologist's theory, it was mushrooms that were the catalyst to our evolution. Suppose we were animal-like entities before we became what we are now, split-brain creatures with free will. Suppose we lived like animals, we lived by instincts and intuition with a constant communication with the Divine. Then one day, we began eating concious-expanding mushrooms, which made our minds evolve, giving us thought, communication, spirituality. One might also refer to this time of leaving our animal-like instincts to become human, as the same story as The Garden of Eden. Or you could refer it to the Shaman's stories of "the great fallout" when humans seperated from the Divine. Either way, it's all there. Eating the fruit of the "Tree of Knowledge", God said, "You can't do that. You cant just have the knowledge...you must go experience it."

Amanitas were revered as a God or Prophet sent from God by so many ancient cultures. Why is this so? Because the experience one can have after ingesting amanitas can be so profound. Taking LSD or Psilocybes, your conciousness is thwarted beyond one's comprehension. One may gain insight during the 'trip' but most revelations are made afterwards, when one can apply what they saw and felt during the vision to the world where there concious mind dwells (in Samsara).

This is not the case with Amanitas. During an amanita 'trip' (I refer to them as experiences), one can travel as far or even further than where Lucy or Psillys can take them, however... you remain lucid and cognitive the entire time, making the experience (in my opinion) so much more profound and compelling.

I don't think I need to elaborate on the fact that we are nearing our next evolution. If you're here on Tribe, you already know.

We all have different paths in life, each one as important as the next. My life has followed sacraments as prophets sent from God. Until recently (my discovery of the many wonderous capabilities of Amanitas), I have been lost on this certain path. I have tried many sacraments, entheogens, and even drugs. I now know that I have an obligation (more or less an agreement I made with God before I incarnated in this life) to spread the word of this new, rediscovered secret of our anscetors. Remember, Amanitas were treated as a God in the Rig Vedas, ancient book of hymns which archaeologists date back AT LEAST to 4,000 b.c.,. However, the indiginous people around indo-europe (from eastern europe to India, including the middle east) claim the Rig Vedas to be 400,000 years old, around the same time that modern Hindus say the Ramayana was written. If this is true, then these texts, this Divine knowledge, predates the current Matrix we are in. Remember in The Matrix, there was five Matrices before Neo?

Everyone on Tribe more than likely knows about 2012. The year that the Mayan Calendar ends. Those of us who understand that it doesn't mean life will cease to exist, know that it simply means we begin an entierly new cycle... or, Matrix.

There has to be a Divine purpose for the knowledge of Amanitas being hidden from us for so long, only to pop back into play as we near the end of our current cycle.

Can I please get some input from everyone regarding this post?

This is something that I am very serious and passionate about. I have plans to travel across the country this summer, bringing amanita wine and bread to as many people as I can, in the widest coverage possible.

I would love to see this tribe become more intimate, everyone getting to know everyone. Sharing experiences, recipes, Divine thoughts, thoughts of the Divine. I'm hoping to know everyone in this tribe on a personal level, so that this summer, I have places to bring the wine, and share it with as many people possible... I'll be like Johnny Appleseed, only with Ambrosia instead.

Peace and love to everyone.

'Amanita Muscaria; Herb of Immortality' by Donald E. Teeter

his book can purchased here:

"The New Testament story of the Sky God's divine infant's 'virgin birth', who 'turns water into wine', then 'heals all the sick', who is the source of all prophecy', that suffers death at the hands of men only to 'resurrect in three days', and then become 'immortal', a story that is totally impossible for any man, yet it is exactly those impossible elements of the Christ story that are actually an accurate description of the birth, use, and death defying ability of the ancient Sacramental "Herb of Immortality"."
