FAIL.
I don't know whether to be elated or terrified.

I'd be a little scared. anytime the far left and far right agree on anything, you can rest assured it's bad for the rest of us.
hopefully, someone somewhere has tapes of a couple dozen of these jackasses fondling boys or sleeping with a dead hooker. we all know there will be a re-vote and it will pass. -

and hopefully that moron pelosi will keep her trap shut long enough so we can pretend that these self-serving assholes are capable of putting the nation's interests ahead of their own when it comes down to crunch time. -

Re: they didn't pass the bill
Tue, September 30, 2008 - 6:18 AMShe is a hopeless ass isn't she? That woman and Barny Frank are two peas in a pod. Both are so very highly partisan and regularly inflammatory that they are almost always more of an impediment that a help.
I don't think that the Repubs voted against it because of her nagging yatter any more than the Democratic members of Barny Frank's committee did when they voted no.

Re: they didn't pass the bill
Tue, September 30, 2008 - 5:31 PMIn the end there is too much money to be wasted at taxpayers expense -- neither party can resit the pressure to "allocate it..."

For me, this is enough to not support the bill -

Re: they didn't pass the bill

we're in the midst of a panic contagion. you need to loosen the cashflow in order to give time for the lemmings to catch their breath and realize that there is no better alternative to leaving their money put and riding this one out. that and our foreign benefactors need to reassured that we won't stiff them. the bailout will accomplish this and keep the credit market from taking a shit which would depress all sectors of the economy.
yep. it sucks. but it seems like the only way out of this mess. -

Wed, October 1, 2008 - 6:53 AM************panic contagion. you need to loosen the cashflow i**************
That's what they say.
However what they don't say is that the banks will have to loosen up or die.
So of there is no bail out then the banks will suffer some may fail but eventually they'll get over it.
The dollar is not tied to gold ( like it was in the great depression) so the Fed can print more money and float the market that way.
I am unconvinced that the doom and gloom scenarios are at all accurate. -

I think that people are flawed. I imagine that these really smart guys have an idea in their heads based on all the aesoteric kjnowledge they have that informs them about how the future will play out. But I don't think they have a hotline into the future.
They say Banks will not lend each other money because of fear. and that will dry up all the credit everywhere and that will stop the engine of commerce and that will kill all the little kittens.
But the banks are run by people who want the banks to stay in business. They will overcome their fears and re enter the market in spite of their fears.
That's what I think. -

Re: they didn't pass the bill
Fri, October 3, 2008 - 10:26 PMI think Paulson's hardsell brought on the secondary stock plunge. but then again, he was probably looking at system and felt it best to bring on a sudden event rather than let things continue to deteriorate. -

Someone needs to bump that thread -

unbelievable. the country is facing an economic meltdown and these inhumans decide to hold out for a tax break on arrows made of wood...
and note that the bill went from 700 billion to something like 800 billion. so much for the insignificant price of pork. -

Re: they didn't pass the bill
Sun, October 5, 2008 - 8:49 AMI was thinking about this.
The way they did it was to attach the bailout to a bill that had already passed.
Then kick the "amended" bill back down top the House.
Then the house voted on the "amended" bill.
I'm guessing that the emended bill already had all this pork and shit on it that the house had prior passed.
So the only real change was the bail out amendment and the rest of the shit was already there.
That's what I'm guessing.
Which doesn't say anything about wood arrows or provision facilitating Spying on citizens 'cause the fukers had already passed that.
