DOJ issues new rules for Corp criminal settlement monitors
Monday the US DOJ (here: tinyurl.com/en55j ) has issued new guidelines controlling how independent o monitors can be retained and used.
Independent monitors work for the government but are hired by the corporation to oversee how the corporation is handling it’s compliance with government requirements subsequent to an agreement to fully comply with government in exchange for a null prosse or non-indictment of a white collar crime.
Prior the corporations were able to hire monitors with connections to government. Now they can not unless they get permission from the DOJ.
Alice Fisher Assistant AG & head of the AG’s Crim Div (here: tinyurl.com/ypr5dg) said "These principles are about transparency, uniformity and consistency on the use of monitors," (here: tinyurl.com/28de5d).
