All Full veils are being considered to be banned.
Last December the European Court of Human Rights unanimously ruled that there was no human rights violation when a French school expelled two students for refusing to remove their headscarves. Last July, a Muslim woman's citizenship application was denied because she failed to assimilate to French culture and she practiced a type of Islam found incompatible with French values. In 2004, France passed a law banning students from conspicuous religious items, including Muslim headscarves, in schools.

From my vantage point is shows contempt for those around you.
In the USA there are lots of states with laws against wearing masks and face coverings in public that arose from the perceived desperate need to prevent bank robbers and such from wearing masks. Which is pretty damn silly when you think about it . Sort of like gun control under the mistaken notion that it'll deter crime with guns. -

I guess we're not supposed to acknowledge the different stages of advancement between different cultures. the only negative in the eyes of the "left" can be found with white americans. any other acknowledgment is verboten. and of course questioning the importation of that primitive mentality makes you as bad as the Nazis. -

a bunch of throwbacks destroying symbols of civilization is not something to shrug your shoulders at. not to mention that the throwbacks destroyed several ancient buddhist statues in afghanistan as a warm up to 9/11. that didn't seem to satiate their mindless need to fuck shit up.

Well I suppose one could take that and ask why it is that Modern western women torture themselves so terribly trying to look all sexy for the men folk.
Pierced ears and mis-formed toes form pointy shoes spring to mind. It's a cultural norm that they seem to take in stride.
I think it's awful but I'm clearly in the minority. Imagine wearing those god awful painful shoes all day long?
Then the great gobs of gooey slimy stinky crap they plaster all the hell over themselves in some god forsaken effort to make themselves yet more appealing to men folk. It doesn't work for me, I'm a Tee shirt and Jeans sort of guy but, again I seem to be in the minority.
Cultural norms are mighty powerful things.

Of course I thought before posting -- after all an effort of that sort was indeed undertaken. The greater problem in their plans was they did not know how to fly. That was left to another group with a different target to achieve later on:
