Following is the text of the verdict statement read in court by JusticeArthur J. Cooperman: Arthur J. Cooperman:

Before dealing with the business at hand, I would like to remind everyone how
important it is to honor the decorum of the court and remain quiet after the
verdicts are rendered.

A trial is defined as a formal examination of the facts of a case by a court of law
to decide the validity of a charge. It is also defined in the dictionary as a
hardship. And, in many ways, this trial was a hardship.

But, it was not a competition. To overreact to the outcome while you are in this
courtroom, whether you are satisfied or dissatisfied with the result, would detract
from the great effort that was expended to assure a fair trial --by the court
personnel and the attorneys who handled their responsibilities with the highest
level of professionalism and skill.

Because establishments known as "strip clubs" often generate criminal activity
including prostitution and narcotics, the Police Dept. Club Enforcement Unit was
given the task of infiltrating such places and pursuing violations of law that would
lead toward shutting them down.

So it was that the detectives charged in this case found themselves in the vicinity
of Club Kalua in the early morning of November 25, 2006.

And as a result of the events of that morning, they are accused of the crimes
alleged in the indictment.

Now, after eight weeks of trial, this court has the responsibility of making a
determination of guilt or lack of guilt as to each of the charges set forth against
each of the defendants.

As the trier of fact, this court must determine what the facts are, apply those facts
to the applicable law, and render a verdict.

The court will do so. But before announcing a decision, a brief statement is in
order.
In weighing the evidence, the court examined the testimony of the witnesses and
the factors to be considered in determining credibility.

An objective consideration of the proof ruled out sympathy and prejudice and any
other emotional response to the issues presented. The court did not view the
victims or the NYPD as being on trial here.

The burden of proof was on the people to prove each defendant guilty of the
crimes of which he was charged, beyond a reasonable doubt. And as with all
criminal cases, each defendant was presumed to be innocent.

Because justification was raised as an issue, the people had the burden of
proving as an element of each charged crime that each defendant was not
justified.

It is important to note that in analyzing what happened here, it was necessary to
consider the mind-set of each defendant at the time and place of occurrence, and
not the mind-set of the victims. What the victims did was more pertinent to
resolving the issues of fact than what may have been in their minds.
Also, carelessness and incompetence are not standards to be applied here,
unless the conduct rises to the level of criminal acts, as defined by the law
relating to each count charged.

What happened outside the Club Kalua on November 25, 2006, and the ensuingincident that occurred around the corner on Liverpool Street are the two
significant events about which proof was elicited.

We instruct juries that it is expected that multiple witnesses to the same event
may vary in their recounting of minor aspects of what had been observed.
However, where there are significant inconsistencies related to important facts,
they should be considered.

Reference was made earlier to the credibility of witnesses. The court has found
that the people's ability to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt was
affected by a combination of the following factors: the prosecution witnesses'
prior inconsistent statements, inconsistencies in testimony among prosecution
witnesses, the renunciation of prior statements, criminal convictions, the interest
of some witnesses in the outcome of the case, the demeanor on the witness
stand of other witnesses and the motive witnesses may have had to lie and the
effect it had on the truthfulness of a witness's testimony. These factors played a
significant part in the people's ability to prove their case beyond a reasonable
doubt and had the effect of eviscerating the credibility of those prosecution
witnesses. And, at times, the testimony just didn't make sense.

Yet, it was apparent from the testimony of the participants that the confrontation
that took place in front of the club was heated. The SUV owner, Fabio Coicou,
gave the impression that he had a gun, causing at least one of the group to
threaten to take it away from him.

And, the court finds, another threat was made by Joseph Guzman to retrieve a
gun. At that point, nothing of a criminal nature had taken place. But, having

witnessed that provocative confrontation between Mr. Coicou and the group, the
undercover officers became concerned and followed the group around the corner
to Liverpool Street.

Defendant Isnora approached the Nissan Altima into which Mr. Guzman and
Sean Bell, two of the more active participants in the heated exchange, entered.

The Altima, which was driven by Mr. Bell, sped away from its parked position,
struck Defendant Isnora and collided head on with the police van that had
entered Liverpool Street. The Altima then went into reverse, backed up on to the
sidewalk, struck a gate and then went forward and to the right, striking the police
van again. As this was happening, Defendant Isnora --who testified in the grand
jury --observed Mr. Guzman, the front passenger, move his body as if he were
reaching for a weapon. Defendant Isnora yelled, "Gun" and fired.

Other officers, indicted and unindicted, joined in from different locations on the
street.

The court has found that the incident lasted just seconds. The officers
responded to perceived criminal conduct; the unfortunate consequences of their
conduct were tragic.

The police response with respect to each defendant was not proved to be
criminal, i.e. beyond a reasonable doubt. Questions of carelessness and
incompetence must be left to other forums.

Although there were aspects of defense testimony that were not necessarilycredible, the focus must be on the people's proof to determine whether they have
satisfied their burden of proving the defendants guilty beyond a reasonable
doubt.

To the extent that the defense of justification was applicable to the charged
crimes, counts 1, 2, 3, 4 in part, 5 in part, 6, 7, and 8, the people have not
proved, beyond a reasonable doubt, that each defendant was not justified in the
actions that each took.

With respect to counts 4 and 5, Trent Benefield, whose credibility was seriously
impeached, testified that he was shot while running down Liverpool Street.
Forensic evidence demonstrated otherwise. Thus, although the justification
defense would not have applied to that aspect of counts 4 and 5, it was not
proved beyond a reasonable doubt.

Accordingly, the court finds each defendant not guilty of each of the respective
counts in the indictment of which they were charged.

There is a series of military "terror prevention exercises" reportedly scheduled in Seattle for the first week of May, involving scenarios for the destruction of the Alaska Viaduct, the blowing up of a tanker containing deadly chemicals at the ferry terminal and much much more.

All of these are reportedly planned out of Fort Lewis, with surprise implants and "Continuity of Government" operations possibly scheduled to coincide with the mass demonstrations to shut down the Port of Seattle and demand immigrant rights on May 1.

All activsts need to be aware that such "military terror prevention exercises" coincided with the terrorist attacks on 9/11 in New York/Washington DC and in London on 7/7, with the odds of this being mere coincidence several billion to one.

The major source for this is Captain Eric May, of whom you possibly know. Although May is suspect in some circles, his take on this needs to be considered.

BEIJING — A fast-spreading viral outbreak in eastern China has killed 21 children, sickened nearly 3,000 others and caused panic among parents in an impoverished corner of Anhui Province, government health officials said Friday.
A child, who is infected with a kind of intestinal virus, identified as enterovirus 71, or EV71, receives medical treatment at a hospital in Fuyang, Anhui province May 2, 2008.
All of the fatalities have been in children younger than 6, the majority of them under 2.
The outbreak, caused by an intestinal virus, has been spreading in the city of Fuyang since early March but local health officials only announced the outbreak last week, raising questions about whether they were trying to conceal it.
In recent days, the Chinese media has heavily criticized the government response, offering comparisons to the SARS epidemic of 2003, which drew widespread attention to China’s shaky public health system and official attempts to cover up the outbreak. The official Xinhua news agency published the latest figures on Friday.
On Thursday, the World Health Organization warned that the disease, which thrives in warm weather and passes easily between children, could spread in the coming summer months. It advised child-care centers and schools in the city and surrounding region to stay closed until the spread of new infections was curtailed.
The virus, commonly know as hand, foot and mouth disease, has no relation to the foot-and-mouth disease that infects livestock.
The illness begins with a fever and often leads to mouth ulcers and to blisters on the hands, feet and buttocks. There is no vaccine or cure but most patients recover in a week without treatment. In severe cases, however, brain swelling can lead to paralysis or death. Rigorous hygiene dramatically reduces the spread of the pathogen.
Health officials in Fuyang say that more than 700 children remain hospitalized, 36 of them in serious condition.
. Although the number of infected children has been steadily climbing, the fatality rate has dropped substantially in recent weeks, falling to 0.2 percent from 11 percent in March, according to World Health Organization officials.
Anxious parents have been overwhelming local hospitals in Fuyang, a hardscrabble city of 170,000 people. In a telephone interview, a doctor at No. 2 People’s Hospital said health care workers were coping with 200 sick children. He said there had not been any fatalities in the past five days. “I think the disease itself can be controlled but it is hard to treat if there are complications,” said the doctor, who would only give his surname, Li.
Among parents, though, there is still widespread concern and confusion. Reached by phone, the father of a 1-year-old boy said misinformation was rife. The current rumor, he said, suggested that a local river was the source of the infection. The man, a truck driver named Wang, said schools had been closed and local health officials were instructing parents to frequently wash their children’s hands. “We really hope journalists can come and report more on this,” he said.
Since early April, teachers at the Dongfanghong kindergarten have been assiduously spraying children and classrooms with a disinfectant daily. Still, by Tuesday, when the authorities shut the school, nearly 100 of the school’s 500 students were being kept home by their parents. “A lot of parents are concerned about the contagiousness,” said Xu Yanyan, the school’s headmistress.
Four years ago, Fuyang was the epicenter of a powdered milk scandal. Fake formula lacking nutritional value sickened 200 infants, and starved 13 to death.
The Chinese media has not been shy about lambasting health officials. In mid-April, they noted, local officials who were confronted by reporters denied there was a problem. Two weeks later, after more than a dozen children had died, they were forced to acknowledge the outbreak.
In an editorial headlined “Tragic Costs of Delay,” the state-run China Daily cited the SARS epidemic and the powdered milk scandal and chastised government for its sluggish response to the most recent health crisis. “The memory of the last tragedy only adds to the bitterness of the new one,” it said.
During the SARS outbreak, Chinese officials withheld information from the World Health Organization, restricted media reporting and undercounted the cases of those stricken. After the disease spread beyond China’s borders and provoked worldwide panic, the government apologized and pledged to confront future health emergencies with greater openness.

It came to me while I was having dinner with Doris Day. No, not that Doris Day. The Doris Day who is married to Col. Bud Day, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, fighter pilot, Vietnam POW and roommate of John McCain at the Hanoi Hilton.

As we ate near the Days' home in Florida recently, I heard things about Sen. McCain that were deeply moving and politically troubling. Moving because they told me things about him the American people need to know. And troubling because it is clear that Mr. McCain is one of the most private individuals to run for president in history.

When it comes to choosing a president, the American people want to know more about a candidate than policy positions. They want to know about character, the values ingrained in his heart. For Mr. McCain, that means they will want to know more about him personally than he has been willing to reveal.

Mr. Day relayed to me one of the stories Americans should hear. It involves what happened to him after escaping from a North Vietnamese prison during the war. When he was recaptured, a Vietnamese captor broke his arm and said, "I told you I would make you a cripple."

The break was designed to shatter Mr. Day's will. He had survived in prison on the hope that one day he would return to the United States and be able to fly again. To kill that hope, the Vietnamese left part of a bone sticking out of his arm, and put him in a misshapen cast. This was done so that the arm would heal at "a goofy angle," as Mr. Day explained. Had it done so, he never would have flown again.

But it didn't heal that way because of John McCain. Risking severe punishment, Messrs. McCain and Day collected pieces of bamboo in the prison courtyard to use as a splint. Mr. McCain put Mr. Day on the floor of their cell and, using his foot, jerked the broken bone into place. Then, using strips from the bandage on his own wounded leg and the bamboo, he put Mr. Day's splint in place.

Years later, Air Force surgeons examined Mr. Day and complimented the treatment he'd gotten from his captors. Mr. Day corrected them. It was Dr. McCain who deserved the credit. Mr. Day went on to fly again.

Another story I heard over dinner with the Days involved Mr. McCain serving as one of the three chaplains for his fellow prisoners. At one point, after being shuttled among different prisons, Mr. Day had found himself as the most senior officer at the Hanoi Hilton. So he tapped Mr. McCain to help administer religious services to the other prisoners.

Today, Mr. Day, a very active 83, still vividly recalls Mr. McCain's sermons. "He remembered the Episcopal liturgy," Mr. Day says, "and sounded like a bona fide preacher." One of Mr. McCain's first sermons took as its text Luke 20:25 and Matthew 22:21, "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's." Mr. McCain said he and his fellow prisoners shouldn't ask God to free them, but to help them become the best people they could be while serving as POWs. It was Caesar who put them in prison and Caesar who would get them out. Their task was to act with honor.

Another McCain story, somewhat better known, is about the Vietnamese practice of torturing him by tying his head between his ankles with his arms behind him, and then leaving him for hours. The torture so badly busted up his shoulders that to this day Mr. McCain can't raise his arms over his head.

One night, a Vietnamese guard loosened his bonds, returning at the end of his watch to tighten them again so no one would notice. Shortly after, on Christmas Day, the same guard stood beside Mr. McCain in the prison yard and drew a cross in the sand before erasing it. Mr. McCain later said that when he returned to Vietnam for the first time after the war, the only person he really wanted to meet was that guard.

Mr. Day recalls with pride Mr. McCain stubbornly refusing to accept special treatment or curry favor to be released early, even when gravely ill. Mr. McCain knew the Vietnamese wanted the propaganda victory of the son and grandson of Navy admirals accepting special treatment. "He wasn't corruptible then," Mr. Day says, "and he's not corruptible today."

The stories told to me by the Days involve more than wartime valor.

For example, in 1991 Cindy McCain was visiting Mother Teresa's orphanage in Bangladesh when a dying infant was thrust into her hands. The orphanage could not provide the medical care needed to save her life, so Mrs. McCain brought the child home to America with her. She was met at the airport by her husband, who asked what all this was about.

Mrs. McCain replied that the child desperately needed surgery and years of rehabilitation. "I hope she can stay with us," she told her husband. Mr. McCain agreed. Today that child is their teenage daughter Bridget.

I was aware of this story. What I did not know, and what I learned from Doris, is that there was a second infant Mrs. McCain brought back. She ended up being adopted by a young McCain aide and his wife.

"We were called at midnight by Cindy," Wes Gullett remembers, and "five days later we met our new daughter Nicki at the L.A. airport wearing the only clothing Cindy could find on the trip back, a 7-Up T-shirt she bought in the Bangkok airport." Today, Nicki is a high school sophomore. Mr. Gullett told me, "I never saw a hospital bill" for her care.

A few, but not many, of the stories told to me by the Days have been written about, such as in Robert Timberg's 1996 book "A Nightingale's Song." But Mr. McCain rarely refers to them on the campaign trail. There is something admirable in his reticence, but he needs to overcome it.

Private people like Mr. McCain are rare in politics for a reason. Candidates who are uncomfortable sharing their interior lives limit their appeal. But if Mr. McCain is to win the election this fall, he has to open up.

Americans need to know about his vision for the nation's future, especially his policy positions and domestic reforms. They also need to learn about the moments in his life that shaped him. Mr. McCain cannot make this a biography-only campaign – but he can't afford to make it a biography-free campaign either. Unless he opens up more, many voters will never know the experiences of his life that show his character, integrity and essential decency.

These qualities mattered in America's first president and will matter as Americans decide on their 44th president.

or not, it represents one of the many reasons given by businesses and industries for

instead of perpetually submitting to exploitation by others. Self discipline coupled with a

Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness”

Classic methodology on control of captives teaches that captors must keep the captive
ignorant educationally, but trained sufficiently well to serve the system. Also, the captors
must be able to identify the “talented tenth” of those subjugated, especially those who
show promise of providing the kind of leadership that might threaten the captor’s control.

Those so identified as separated from the rest of the people by:

BADEN-BADEN, Germany—Karl Lotter, a prisoner who worked in the hospital at Mauthausen concentration camp, had no trouble remembering the first time he watched SS doctor Aribert Heim kill a man.

It was 1941, and an 18-year-old Jew had been sent to the clinic with a foot inflammation. Heim asked him about himself and why he was he so fit. The young man said he had been a soccer player and swimmer.

Then, instead of treating the prisoner's foot, Heim anesthetized him, cut him open, castrated him, took apart one kidney and removed the second, Lotter said. The victim's head was removed and the flesh boiled off so that Heim could keep it on display.

"He needed the head because of its perfect teeth," Lotter, a non-Jewish political prisoner, recalled in testimony eight years later that was included in an Austrian warrant for Heim's arrest uncovered by The Associated Press. "Of all the camp doctors in Mauthausen, Dr. Heim was the most horrible."

But Heim managed to avoid prosecution, his American-held file in Germany mysteriously omitting his time at Mauthausen, and today he is the most wanted Nazi war criminal on a list of hundreds who the Simon Wiesenthal Center estimates are still free.

Heim would be 93 today and "We have good reason to believe he is still alive," said Efraim Zuroff, the Simon Wiesenthal Center's top Nazi hunter. He spoke in a telephone interview from Jerusalem ahead of the center's plans to release a list of the most-sought

fugitives on Wednesday, and to open a media campaign in South America this summer highlighting the $485,000 reward for Heim's arrest posted by the center along with Germany and Austria.

According to an advance copy of the list obtained by the AP, the most wanted, after Heim, are: John Demjanjuk, fighting deportation from the U.S., which says he was a guard at several death and forced labor camps; Sandor Kepiro, a Hungarian accused of involvement in the wartime killings of than 1,000 civilians in Serbia; Milivoj Asner, a wartime Croatian police chief now living in Austria and suspected of an active role in deporting hundreds of Serbs, Jews, and Gypsies to their death; and Soeren Kam, a former member of the SS wanted by Denmark for the assassination of a journalist in 1943. His extradition from Germany was blocked in 2007 by a Bavarian court that found insufficient evidence for murder charges.

The hunt for Heim has taken investigators from the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg all around the world. Besides his home country of Austria and neighboring Germany where he settled after the war, tips have come from Uruguay in 1998, Spain, Switzerland and Chile in 2005, and Brazil in 2006, said Heinz Heister, presiding judge of the Baden-Baden state court, where Heim was indicted in absentia on hundreds of counts of murder in 1979.

Thousands of German war criminals were prosecuted in West Germany after World War II. In the 1970s Western democracies began a hunt in earnest for Eastern European collaborators who had fled West claiming to be refugees from communism, and the end of the Cold War gave access to a trove of communist files in the 1990s.

"All of a sudden there was pressure on countries like Latvia and Estonia to put these people on trial," Zuroff said. "So two times in the past 30 years we've been given a tremendous infusion of new energy and new possibilities."

The Wiesenthal Center's previous annual survey counted 1,019 investigations under way worldwide. The number is lower this year and inexact because not all countries responded, but new investigations were up from 63 to 202, Zuroff said.

Still, a lack of political will in many countries, and what Zuroff called the "misplaced-sympathy syndrome"—reluctance to pursue aging suspects—has meant that few people have been brought to trial and convicted.

Lotter, the witness to Heim's atrocity, was in Mauthausen because he fought with the communists in the Spanish Civil War. His statement from the 1950 arrest warrant was viewed by the AP at the National Archives in College Park, Md.

Now that the necessary evidence is in place, numerous witness statements have been taken and Heim has been indicted, all that's left is to find him.

Born June 28, 1914 in Radkersburg, Austria, Heim joined the local Nazi party in 1935, three years before Austria was bloodlessly annexed by Germany.

He later joined the Waffen SS and was assigned to Mauthausen, a concentration camp near Linz, Austria, as a camp doctor in October and November 1941.

While there, witnesses told investigators, he worked closely with SS pharmacist Erich Wasicky on such gruesome experiments as injecting various solutions into Jewish prisoners' hearts to see which killed them the fastest.

But while Wasicky was brought to trial by an American Military Tribunal in 1946 and sentenced to death, along with other camp medical personnel and commanders, Heim, who was a POW in American custody, was not among them.

Heim's file in the Berlin Document Center, the then-U.S.-run depot for Nazi-era papers, was apparently altered to obliterate any mention of Mauthausen, according to his 1979 German indictment, obtained by the AP. Instead, for the period he was known to be at the concentration camp, he was listed as having a different SS assignment.

This "cannot be correct," the indictment says. "It is possible that through data manipulation the short assignment at the same time to the (concentration camp) was concealed."

There is no indication who might have been responsible.

The U.S. Army Intelligence file on Heim could shed light on his wartime and postwar activities, and is among hundreds of thousands transferred to the U.S. National Archives. But the Army's electronic format is such that staff have so far only been able to access about half of them, and these don't include the file requested by the AP.

Heim was relatively well-known, however, having been a national hockey player in Austria before the war, and there were plenty of witnesses from his time at Mauthausen.

Austrian authorities sent the 1950 arrest warrant to American authorities in Germany who initially agreed to turn him over, then told the Austrians, in a Dec. 21, 1950 letter obtained by the AP, that they couldn't trace him.

What happened next is unclear, but in 1958 Heim apparently felt comfortable enough to buy a 42-unit apartment block in Berlin, listing it in his own name with a home address in Mannheim, according to purchase documents obtained by the AP. He then moved to the nearby resort town of Baden-Baden and opened a gynecological clinic—also under his own name, Heister said.

In 1961 German authorities were alerted and began an investigation, but when they finally went to arrest him in September 1962, they just missed him—he apparently had been tipped off.

Heim continued to live off the rents collected from the Berlin apartments until 1979 when the building was confiscated by German authorities.

Proof that he is alive may lie in the fact that no one has claimed his estate. Heim has two sons in Germany and a daughter who lived in Chile but whose current whereabouts are unknown.

In Frankfurt, Heim's lawyer said he still officially represents the fugitive, but has not heard from him for 20 years and has "no clue" to his whereabouts.

Asked in a telephone interview if Heim was dead, Fritz Steinacker said only: "I don't know."

Ruediger Heim, one of the sons, would not comment when telephoned at his Baden-Baden villa.

"All I can say is that it has been implied that I am in contact with my father, and that is absolutely false," he said. "The rest is speculation, and I can't enter into that."

The problem is not that he is, or is not, talking to the Syrians – everyone does it to some degree.
It isn't that he went to Damascus to meet with the exiled head of Hamas – everyone, including the Israelis, will one day have to do that too, in accordance with that old rule which says that in the end it is with your enemies not your friends that you have to come to an understanding and make peace.
No.
The problem is how Jimmy Carter went about it.
The problem is the spectacular and useless embrace he exchanged with the senior Hamas dignitary, Nasser Shaer, in Ramallah.
The problem is the wreath he laid piously at the grave of Yasser Arafat, who, as Mr. Carter knows better than anyone else, was a real obstacle to peace.
It is that in Cairo, if we are to believe another Hamas leader, Mahmoud Zahar, whose statement has so far not been denied, Mr. Carter apparently described Hamas as a "national liberation movement" – this party which has made a cult of death, a mythology of blood and race, and an anti-Semitism along the lines of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion into the linchpin of its ideology.
The problem is also the formidable nose thumbing he got from Hamas's exiled leader, Khaled Mashaal, who, at the very moment he was receiving Mr. Carter, also triggered the first car bombing in several months in Keren Shalom on the Gaza strip – and that this event elicited from poor Mr. Carter, all tangled up in his small-time mediator calculations, not one disapproving or empathetic word.
The former president, it will be recalled, is an old hand at this sort of thing.
Going off track like this is not new for the man who 30 years ago was one of the architects of peace with Egypt, but who since then has not stopped vilifying Israel, comparing its political system to that of South Africa during apartheid, ignoring Israel's desire for peace, which is no less real than its errors, even denying its suffering.
A year ago, he told CBS that for years his beloved Hamas had not committed any terrorist attacks resulting in civilian casualties – this, a few months after the assassination of six people at the Karni Terminal, and the attack on Aug. 30, 2004, which killed 16 passengers in two buses in Beersheba.
And it is one thing to speak to CBS, and another to say these words, which are unofficial but have indisputable moral authority, to the belligerents.
It is one thing to say, in Dublin on June 19, 2007, that the true criminals are not those who proclaim, like Mashaal, that "before dying" Israel must be "humiliated and degraded," but those who would prefer that these charming characters be pushed out of the circles of power, sooner or later, with a distinct preference for "sooner." It is quite another to come over in person and put all one's weight behind the most radical elements, those who are the most hostile to peace, the most profoundly nihilistic in the Palestinian camp.
The truth is, if one wished to discredit the other side, to fully humiliate and ridicule the only Palestinian leader (Mahmoud Abbas) who at the risk of his life continues to believe in the solution of two states – if with a word one wanted to ruin the last dreams of men and women of goodwill who still believe in peace – one would be absolutely on the right track.
So what happened to this man, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate?
Is it the vanity of someone who is no longer so important, who wants a last 15 minutes in the spotlight before he has to leave the stage forever?
Is it the senility of a politician who has lost touch with reality and with his own party? Barack Obama, even more clearly than his rival, has just reminded us that it will not be possible to "sit down" with the leaders of Hamas unless they are prepared to "renounce terrorism, recognize Israel's right to exist, and respect past agreements."
Could he be suffering from a variant of self-hatred, or in this case a hatred of his own past as the Great Peacemaker?
All hypotheses are permitted. Whatever the reason, Mr. Carter has demonstrated an unusual capacity to transform a political error into a disastrous moral mistake.

States rights & the 4th Amendment just took a step back

In a decision released earlier today, the United States Supreme Court ruled that although police may conduct searches of criminal suspects incident to a lawful arrest, the lawfulness of an arrest is based exclusively upon the existence of probable cause and not statutory state law. The Justices also held that state restrictions on police powers of arrest do not affect the operations and protections of the Fourth Amendment.

The facts of the case, set forth in Virginia v. Moore, involve an arrest by the police of a motorist who was driving on the revoked list. After arresting the driver, the police conducted a search of his person incident to the arrest. The search yielded distribution levels of controlled dangerous substances. Under Virginia state law, the police should not have arrested the driver, but merely should have given him a summons. As a result, the Virginia Supreme Court affirmed a suppression of the drug evidence seized by the police. The United States Supreme Court reversed this decision today, holding that regardless of state law restrictions or limitations on police arrest powers, when the police have probable cause to effect an arrest for an offense committed in their presence, the Fourth Amendment permits them to make the arrest and conduct a search of the person in order to recover evidence and assure their own safety.

A physicians group and 2 other NGOs attempoted to gain access to Hillary’s meetings and they were illegally denied by White House Counsel Bernard Nussbaum ( OMG Shades of Alberto Gonzalas) .

On 11/24/93, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons; the American Council for Health Care Reform; and the National Legal and Policy Center. Served Hillary her six secret conspirators in federal District Court (DC).

A 03/03/93 depostion of Ira Magaziner was taken by Plaintiffs.. Magaziner lied and said that all the members of Hillary’s little cabal were government employees. He lied about Hillary, he lied about the non government people and he lied calling the non government people “staff members.” This was a really big deal. The defense turned on that assertion and the claim that the FACA was as Hillary claimed unconstitutional. Which was strange cause the liberal left has sued under it more than a dozen times. Even sued Dan Quayle under it and the liberal left seemed not to think it unconstitutional then. The defense also relied on the lies about everyone being government employees because that is the trigger under which the FACA inheres.
Hillary through Magaziner put forth perjury before the court committing a fraud upon the court. Then in violation of her oath of attorney she allowed that perjury to stand.

During the several months after Magaziner’s lie, the lawyer, Hillary Clinton had a mandatory duty on sworn oath to correct it. All lawyers are obligated to never deceive the courts and top never perpetrate a fraud upon the court. She failed this duty by allowing the lie to stand.

Judge Lamberth handed down an order that Hillary could no longer hold secret meetings and had to open the doors to the media and the doctors etc.

If you want to convince the world that an overwhelming majority of scientists believes in global warming, then start by ignoring scientists who are not true believers. First, establish lists of scientists with your approved position, then smear dissidents. Soon, up-and-coming scientists will be afraid to cross the rigid green line.

So, the Society of Environmental Journalists put together a guide on climate change that lists a number of publications on global warming, scientists and seven environmental groups, each with positive descriptions. Under the "Deniers, Dissenters and 'Skeptics'" category are four listings -- all negative. They suggest that these folk are venal, partisan and bad scientists, or all of the above.

According to the SEJ guide, University of Virginia professor Patrick Michaels "still claims to be the Virginia 'state climatologist' although the state has disavowed him." The publisher of George Mason University professor Fred Singer's books is connected with the "Moonie" leader, the Rev. Sun Myung Moon. The Competitive Enterprise Institute think tank has received oil money. Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., has a flack "whose resume brags of starting the 'Swift Boat' story that injured candidate John Kerry." The short list, with a senator even, suggests they had run out of dissident scientists -- or dissident scientists they could squeeze into the venal-lightweight box.

Most insulting is the insinuation that skeptics are after money, while believers are pure. Nonsense, David Legates, Delaware state climatologist, told me. Dire global warming predictions draw the big bucks in research these days: "There's a lot more money to be made by saying the world is coming to an end than to say that this is a bunch of hooey."

"Hooey" is the term also used by Reid Bryson, the father of scientific climatology, in the (Madison, Wis.) Capital Times, as he explained: "If you want to be an eminent scientist, you have to have a lot of grad students and a lot of grants. You can't get grants unless you say, 'Oh global warming, yes, yes, carbon dioxide.'"

Legates tells students who are not global-warming true believers, "If you don't have tenure at a major research university, keep your mouth shut."

Dissenting scientists do not deny that the planet is getting warmer. As O'Brien noted, "I believe that there is global warming and it's probably due to natural as well as human causes." But also, "It's not occurring as fast as the alarmists say," and its consequences won't be as dire as they say. SEJ should see the value in skeptics who challenge the global-warming orthodoxy -- which can make global warming forecasts more concise -- instead of suggesting that no good scientists have alternative views.

O'Brien sees a schism in the science community, with real-world scientists -- think former Director of the National Hurricane Center Neil Frank -- on one skeptic side, and environmentalists and ecologists, who "if they see more turtles this year than last year, they write a paper" on the worst-case-scenario other.

Legates noted that state climatologists deal in patterns and cycles and "tend to be more skeptical of the extreme climate change scenarios."

Politicians, thus, have begun to stifle state climatologists who are not global-warming boosters -- oddly with little complaint that evil politicians are trying to censor noble scientists.

Oregon state climatologist George Taylor is a skeptic. Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski, a Democrat, asked Oregon State University to stop Taylor from using a title he had used without complaint since 1991. Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, also a Democrat, pulled a similar move on Michaels, who is now the American Association of State Climatologists-designated state climatologist in Virginia.

As if it's a bad thing to be recognized by fellow climatologists, instead of a politician -- at least to the Society of Environmental Journalists.

In NH he was called to task for asserting that the US troops who have dies in Iraq have been wasted.
He said:
''I was actually upset with myself when I said that, because I never use that term,[…] ''Their sacrifices are never wasted.[…] What I meant to say was those sacrifices have not been honored by the same attention to strategy, diplomacy and honesty on the part of civilian leadership that would give them a clear mission."

“I never use that term,” ~?? What?? NEVER is a long, long time.
Lying any one? Backpedaling, & spinning anyone~?

And then there was the Monster Fest:
''In Ohio, they are obsessed and Hillary is going to town on it, because she knows Ohio's the only place they can win,'[…] ''She is a monster, too -- that is off the record -- she is stooping to anything.”

Yah he had to back off on that one too. Well, they weren’t his words. They were the words of Samantha Power, a then foreign policy adviser to Obama.

Then there was the Jeremiah Wright crap:

First it was: "He never said those things"(paraphrased)

Then it was: "I wasn't there when he said it" (paraphrased)

Then it was: "He didn't mean it that way" (paraphrased)

Then it was: "I can't condemn him or the things he said" (paraphrased)

Then it was : "I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies."

Now it’s: Those ignorant crackers are clinging to guns and religion.” (paraphrased)

Then it was:

So people, ya know, they vote about guns or they take comfort from their faith, and their family, and their community, and they get mad about illegal immigrants who are coming over to this country, or they get frustrated about how things are changing. That’s a natural response.”

Hmmmm and when boiled down to it’s essence it is best paraphrased as follows:
“I meant that they are bitter about not having a government that gives ‘em what they want so they are clinging to guns and religion.”

Then it was:

"He regrets the wording of the remarks and he was sorry for the offense that anybody took from them," (spoken through his strategist, David Axelrod)
