Introduction to Bellydance
Monday, 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
NEW SESSION STARTS JULY 7TH

This introductory class will focus on the fundamentals of bellydance while providing a workout that tones and strengthens your entire body. Each fun-filled class you will learn upper and lower body isolations, traveling steps, turns, and basic combinations. No prior dance experience is necessary. Just come ready to learn and have a great time!

Beginner Bellydance

SESSION TOPIC: ZILLS

Beginner bellydance expands on the basic movement and technique taught in the Introduction to Bellydance course. This informative course is comprised of four eight-week sessions, which can be taken in any order. Each session covers a different topic - beginner combinations, veil, zills, and choreography.
*All students must complete at least one session of the Intro class before moving on to Beginner Bellydance.

SPINS & TURNS
Could your dance use a revolution? Then this is the class for you! In this workshop, we'll focus on incorporating spins and turns into your performance repertoire. We will begin with basic turning technique and an overview of common spins and turns used in tribal fusion bellydance. Building on this foundation, we'll learn several fun and exciting combinations accented with (you guessed it!) turns. Finally, we will use these combos to explore group stage dynamics as well as transitions for soloists. All levels welcome.

We cross many dance forms and are affiliated with no particular studio....this is an amazing opportunity for us all to join in a unified dance and help our world/community.

Our first meeting of the year will be on March 1 at the Hurst Recreation Center from 8-9pm. All subsequent meetings will be held on the 1st Thursday of the month as well. Please bring $3 to cover room rental and administrative paperwork (making copies).

In July, we will perform in the annual anniversary of PURE's first procession in NYC. All PURE chapters across the world perform on the same day to celebrate the anniversary. We will also be dancing at Kismet this year.

This group is democratic. Brandy and I are your facilitators, but we are here to help you and the group flourish. It's everyone's group and all ideas and input are welcome. At this meeting, we will

- Get your information
- Tell you about PURE
- Set date, time, and place for anniversary processional.
- Set date, time, and place for Kismet.
- Pick charities, events, or causes to spread awareness
- DANCE and DRUM!

If you have someone who doesn't wish to perform but would like to help, we also have assistant positions. These wonderful people join us at our procession and help us in many ways.

I am a member of the drum/dance troupe Belaharr in Austin. We have a new CD of the drum music we play in performance. These are really good for belly/tribal/fusion dance, and a couple are more complicated for precision choreography. The Rythmpig website also has a couple of my new ones up - somebody could do something really cool with the one titled Seventh Sister (but you need to want to dance a 7/8 number).

I am a bellydancer from Mexico. I saw your performance some months ago in the Rose Marine Theater in Fort Worth. It was amazing! It was so creative and blissful. I was wondering all the time...what would it take to have the chance to learn from this people?
I will be spending some time in Texas and was wondering if any of you offer any kind of classes or if as a dance company you offer classes too.
So can you give me information regarding to these and if so, where, how, and at what time?

On January 6, 7, 8, 2006, Zymirrah and Sahira of Urban Gypsy (Houston) sponsored the Second Annual “3rd Coast Tribal” weekend in Ft. Worth, Texas. This year’s event featured workshops and performances by Sharon Kihara from California (The Indigo and Belly Dance Super Stars) and Darshan from New York City (Gypsy Caravan, Dalia Carella Dance Collective, and PURE). The Friday, Saturday and Sunday workshops, as well as the Saturday night show, were held at the Rose Marine Theater, just a few blocks from the Stockyard District. The Friday night show was held at Byblos Lebanese Restaurant, a short walk down the sidewalk from the theater.

I would just like everyone to know who was not able to come that Kinza made her solo debut at Byblos on Monday. She did an amazing job. Miabella says that she has a very Egyptian style. I think she was super hot...oh, and that coral skirt was pretty sexy too :) I love ya, Sassy!!
