so i went to dinner with april for her bday last night and her friend was in town from ATL telling crazy stories of things she has to review for her job (web/tv reviews for her radio station). she was telling me about the documentary on the guy who got fucked to death by a horse. remember that dude? did you know ti was a group of people who would meet up and get fucked by horses? she said the documentary was really artsy and actually done really well. she was impressed by it. she said the thing that haunted her the most was at the very end some lady is putting the horse that killed the dude on a trailer to take somewhere (vet for herpes testing?) and a pony comes galloping up and starts to give the horse a BEEJ! *shut the fuck up!!*

to know. it is good to know. it is good to know that there will be an earthquake in our future. in FACT, a 99.7% chance of a major earthquake in the SF bay area in the next 30 years. this is GOOD to know. why is it good to know this? it is good to know this because i was worried there was a 100% chance of a major earthquake coming soon. this margin between certainty and possibility is comfort enough for me.

fucking wakin and bakin. i just don't have love for the wake n bake. i'm totally down for waking. and down for baking. but not at the same time. i was coerced into a wake and bake on sunday morning by a veritable BOWL PARFAIT of herb, keef, herb, keef, herb, keef, and I couldn't very well say NO to that, especially since I was woken up early at 10:30 am to go out to breakfast and hey eating breakfast stoned is a novel idea so what the hell. well the hell is that it made me order FRENCH TOAST CANADIAN BACON N HOLLANDAISE SAUCE and man all that shit just sat in my tank and then i had to go bachelorette party shopping at hot stuff and it was really hot and after an hour at a novelty sex shop, it gets real boring and old. so when i finally got home i was a walking zombie of too much breakfast and i fell asleep then woke up and almost threw up and realized i was still really full and my food wasn't digesting so i drank two glasses of baking soda and water and felt a little bit better.

GOOD

video games that i buy and ACTUALLY want to play, like Puzzle Quest, are few and far between since I'm only rocking the PS2 for the time, so when i find a game like PUZZLE QUEST, i'm stoked as hell because it's fun to be a little addicted to game now and then, last time it happened was final fantasy 3 for DS.

BAD

video games that i actually want to play make me actually want to play video games, and frankly that doesn't really fit into my schedule of pot smoking and not pissing off my wife, but PUZZLE QUEST is really fun, even though my tv sucks and i can't actually read some of the dialogue, but it doesn't really matter because it is A PUZZLE (quest). so i play and play and play and play and it's 1:40 am and i still want to play and i realize I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT I AM DOING IN THE GAME, I AM JUST WALKING AROUND AND COLLECTING RUNES AND DOING PUZZLE BATTLES OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND SEIGING CITIES AND UPGRADING MOUNTS and WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS DOING TO BENEFIT ME, IT SAYS NOTHING TO ME ABOUT MY LIFE, HANG THE BLESSED DJ BURN DOWN THE DISCO

SOUR GRIPES

I blew it and was late to work FOR THE LAST TIME apparently at some point last week. I've received warnings in the past for tardiness (christing fuck I've been with the company for 7 years now and suddenly I'm the black hole of lateness that could bring down the ENTIRE CHAIN OF OFFICES AND LOSE OUR SHITTY CONTRACTS if I am later than ten minutes), and they have always said I will face SUSPENSION if I am late again.
That has been the case now for the two warnings/write-ups I've been given, but not this time. Now the SUSPENSION warning is completely gone. I only run the risk of DEMOTION and losing whatever gains I've made monetarily, now. I poked around and mentioned it to someone at another office of ours, and she said they have been looking at temp agencies the past week (my bosses work out of that office). One of the agencies was local to our office, and my coworker told me they had quoted a price of SIXTY-FIVE DOLLARS AN HOUR to get a temp to replace me, because I was GOING to be suspended...
So, I know that temp agencies charge a pretty penny, obviously, but to replace me for several times what I am paid is either ludicrous, or eye-opening... What the hell job description did they send the agency to look for temps with? I have hit the glass ceiling, pay-wise, at this office, so either I don't make nearly enough for what I do, or that temp agency didn't want to work with our company and gave them a ridiculous quote, or temp agencies charge three times what they pay their temp.
All I know is that apparently I can't be suspended because my company cannot afford to suspend me, and I'm a 31 year old who gets reprimanded for TARDINESS.
Plus I dropped my lunch this morning and I didn't realize I broke the tupperware holding my soup because it was still frozen, so while it was defrosting it leaked all over the breakroom cupboard.

A school custodian's impromptu after-hours karaoke performance prompted a police response when a teacher thought she was being threatened over the loudspeaker.
State police say a teacher at Booth Free School barricaded herself inside a classroom Wednesday when she mistook someone singing a Guns N' Roses song over the public address system for a threat.

She was working after hours and thought no one else was in the building. Then she heard someone say over the loudspeaker that she was going to die.

Six troopers and three police dogs showed up and found three teenagers, one of them a custodian at the school, who had been playing with the public address system.

Police say one of them sang "Welcome to the Jungle" into the microphone. The song contains the lyrics "You're in the jungle baby; you're gonna die."

The teenagers were cuffed on the ground for about 15 minutes while police investigated. They were released after being questioned and state police Sgt. Brian Ness said they did not realize the teacher was in the school and will not face charges.

"These things happen," Van Ness said. "Luckily it was humorous. You kind of have a gut feeling. As soon as we got there, we spoke to the three kids. They understood."

A kangaroo met an unlikely death after it bounded into the surf in southern Australia and was mauled by a shark, according to eyewitnesses.

Daniel Hurst, who says he saw the incident while out walking his dogs, was accused of being drunk or on drugs after he told the story to friends.

But the emergence of a second witness and the discovery of mangled kangaroo remains appear to confirm his story.

Experts say kangaroos will take to the sea only if they are ill or in danger.

Mr Hurst said he was walking along Torquay beach in Victoria when he saw the marsupial behind scrubland next to the dunes.

"It just headed down towards the water and in it went," he told Australia's ABC News.

"There's a bit of a rip in that area so... the kangaroo could have been dragged out, but I could still see its head, and that's when the shark leapt out of the water on its side.

"The kangaroo disappeared after that. I stayed around for a while, just very interested, and hoping the shark jumped again, but it never eventuated."

The unlikely tale appears to have been backed up by local officials, who discovered a kangaroo carcass on the beach.

And a second witness, Mick Boucher, came forward to say he also saw the shark attack.

Mr Boucher said the marsupial, which seemed dazed, stood at the edge of the water for about 10 seconds and then started swimming out to sea.

"It was bobbing up and down,'' Mr Boucher said.

He told the Geelong Advertiser that the unfortunate marsupial was about 200m (656ft) from shore when the shark struck.

He said the predator's back was clearly visible above the choppy waves as it launched its attack.

"It wasn't a huge shark and it was too far out to see clearly, but it was a shark. I couldn't believe it."

Police: Students used cookies to torture

Two students at Southern Illinois University in this St. Louis suburb kidnapped, paddled and burned a young man with freshly baked cookies after a drug deal went bad, prosecutors said.

Madison County prosecutors on Monday charged Rosario James, 23, and Jordan Sallis, 20, each with two counts of aggravated kidnapping and one count of robbery and aggravated battery.

Both were jailed Tuesday on $150,000 apiece.

Sheriff's Capt. Brad Wells said that Friday night, three men went to James' house to buy marijuana, but two of them grabbed the drugs and fled, leaving the third behind. The suspects held that man, who is in his late teens, and told him he needed to find $400 for the drugs, Wells said.

The suspects beat the man with a wooden paddle, burned his neck and shoulders with cookies immediately after taking them from the oven, shaved off some of his hair and poured urine over him from a soda bottle, Wells said.

"It was just sheer torture," Wells said.

Hours later, Wells said, the victim managed to escape and call police after the suspects drove him to a house in trying to get money for the drugs.

The victim sustained severe bruising but was not hospitalized.

Both suspects were arrested Saturday morning.

There was no evidence that James or Sallis had been using drugs before or during the alleged torture, Wells said Tuesday.

"Basically they ripped them off of their drugs, and they took exception to that," Wells said.

There was no record that James or Sallis had obtained an attorney as of Tuesday, a Madison County court clerk said.

I totally started the Get Wild Five this weekend. And by started I just mean I married (in the eyes of the family and friends and THE MAKER OF WOMEN FROM MY RIB) the lady who the state of California already believed to be my wife for the past three years. Even though we really only plan on making it a Get Wild Four kinda family, I'm just gonna consider any additional canine pet as a Get Wild alternate.

The wedding came off pretty cool despite the laissez-faire approach I had taken on the whole thing. She worked and worried her ass off for the whole thing, and I tried to play the part of "guy who shows up to his wedding", and I nearly pulled that part off to perfection, but I was actually standing in line at Fry's Electronics 30 minutes and 20 miles and one complete costume change away from the start of the ceremony.

I really loved our food, our music (except for too many dj's not enough portable cd players and mp3 players), the atmosphere and the location. I'm the most pessimistic person I know, and the only real disaster, in my mind, occurred when I called my brother-in-law by the wrong name, negating YEARS of subtle work I've put into getting him to at least kind of like me. It would have been fine if not for my sister's ex was named Brian. I have an excuse though, because between the wife and I, we had invited several Ryans, several Brians, and altogether too many Erics.

Fart. it was AWESOME. neither of us can believe that such a good time was had in honor of US. So we're going to get divorced and have another wedding around Christmas time. We really want a flat screen tv, guys.

Cop who fell on the job sues family of baby who almost drowned

An officer who went to help when a baby fell in a pool says she slipped in a puddle.

CASSELBERRY - In January, 1-year-old Joey Cosmillo wandered into the backyard and fell into the family pool. When his mother hauled him out, he wasn't breathing. Rescuers were able to bring him back to life, but he suffered severe brain damage and cannot walk, talk or even swallow.

Now, his family faces another burden: One of the rescuers, Casselberry police Sgt. Andrea Eichhorn, is suing, alleging the family left a puddle of water on the floor that afternoon, causing her to slip and fall.

The boy's grandparents, named in the suit, are mystified and angry.

A family friend today set up an account, hoping to raise funds for the boy's long-term care. It's the Joseph "Joey" Cosmillo Assistance Fund. Donors can make contributions at any Wachovia bank branch.

"The loss we've suffered, and she's seeking money?" said Richard Cosmillo, 69, the boy's grandfather. "Of course there's going to be water in the house. He was sopping wet when we brought him in."

Eichhorn last week sued Richard Cosmillo; his wife, Maggie Cosmillo; and the boy's mother, Angela Cosmillo, accusing them of negligence. They were careless, according to the suit, and allowed the home they shared to become unsafe.

As a consequence, Eichhorn broke her knee, something that kept her off the job for two months, according to police Chief John Pavlis.

Joey now lives in a nursing home five miles away, where he gets 24-hour care. He breathes through one tube. He's fed through another.

"He doesn't have any abilities -- any," his grandmother said. "He can't sit. He can't swallow. He can't eat. We're not even sure he can see."

She and Richard Cosmillo are the boy's legal guardians. For the first two months after the accident, she remained at his bedside, never once going home.

She has now gone back to work at a furniture store, and her husband keeps watch on the boy. He visits every day.

"This thing," Maggie Cosmillo said, "has destroyed our lives forever."

The baby's mother was the only one home Jan. 9, when the boy slipped out of the house and wound up in the pool, according to a police report.

She plunged in and dragged him out, carrying him inside, down a hallway and into a bedroom. She also called 911.

Eichhorn arrived a few minutes later. As she stepped into the room where rescuers were working on the boy, she slipped and went down on one knee, then stood back up, according to Richard Cosmillo.

Later that day, she went to an emergency care center and eventually to an orthopedist, according to her attorney, David Heil.

While she was on medical leave, Pavlis said, the city's insurer paid her medical bills and provided disability checks.

Eichhorn, a 12-year department veteran, would not discuss the suit. Her attorney said those benefits, paid by the city's workers' compensation carrier, were not enough. The suit seeks an unspecified amount of money.

Eichhorn, he said, is a victim. Her knee aches, and she will likely develop arthritis.

If the Cosmillos had made their pool baby-proof, police would not have been called to the scene, there would have been no water on the floor, and Eichhorn would not have hurt herself, he said.

"It's a situation where the Cosmillos have caused these problems, brought them on themselves, then tried to play the victim," he said.

The department's personnel file on Eichhorn, who earns $48,000 a year, is filled with letters of praise. She has worked as a prostitution decoy and a hostage negotiator, and once wrestled a box of razor blades away from a person threatening suicide.

"She is the best sergeant within the police department and should become the next lieutenant," her supervisor wrote in a job review in 2003.

"Sgt. Eichhorn is a good officer," Pavlis said Tuesday.

He urged her not to file the lawsuit, he said, but there was nothing he could do.

The Cosmillos have not given the suit much attention, they say.

Richard Cosmillo is busy looking after Joey, whose name he had tattooed over his heart a few days after the accident, when doctors told the family the boy would survive only a few hours.

But Joey, now almost 23 months old, has survived. He can smile, and he appears to recognize music, his grandparents say. His grandfather hopes for much more.

"Joey is a Roman gladiator. He is an absolute warrior," Richard Cosmillo said. "There isn't anything or anyone in this world that I love as much as him."

A skunk lives in my apartment complex. I see him like 3-4 times a week now. He likes to walk around and sniff things. I recently found a mysterious amazon pacjkage, amanda said it was sitting upon the doorstep and it had my email address as the addressee name and it said ity was from the delightfuil eric, but um, what? was it a mistakeor something i wondered? i haven't yuet asked him if he meant to send thisgift to me, but anyway, I opened it and lo and behold, the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman. I put them off because i was reading mists of avalon, but picked up the first one, The Golden Compass, about a week ago, and finished the final book, the Amber Spyglass this past saturdaymorning beforfe starting the potter book. I can't believethey are going to make a movieout of the first book, the compass one. It's going to be fucking unreal, because it's got to be star wars level of CG art but it might actually work with the material.Anywayh thats boring.
