The propane company that Annwfn has been using for years will not deliver propane to us anymore because of Fluffy's condition. The drivers do not feel safe on that road. This means the propane that is currently at Annwfn is what the Caretakers have to last the winter. Propane is used to cook the food and power some of the electricity.
Anyone who would like to visit Annwfn, please bring a camp stove to cook. We will be asking a $10 donation per day to use the stove/oven in the red house to help with the cost of propane.
This is what we need to fix this situation...
A flat bed truck. We have a few 25 gallon tanks (about 5 ft tall) that we could fill with propane, but we need a flat bed truck to haul them. The law specifies that to transport propane, the containers must remain completely upright the entire drive. The Caretakers do not have a vehicle that can do this. If anyone has a flat bed truck (and time) that they would like to donate to this cause, please contact the Caretakers at 707-548-9773.
Filling these smaller tanks will end up costing more than what we are currently paying ($800 twice a year) because we would no longer be getting a bulk discount. The cost of natural gas is rising ever-steadily so we hope to find a permanent fix to this solution.
We are hoping to fix Fluffy once Spring comes and the rains stop. To do this we need to raise at least $2000. We have currently raised $500 towards our goal.
Once the rains stop we will be able to get Fluffy re-graded and graveled. George Poore has offered to re-grade the road for $125/hr. He estimates it to take around 10 hrs to complete. We will also need to purchase tons of gravel to lay on fluffy (and rent a flat bed truck to haul the gravel unless one is donated). To make it maneuverable for the propane company we would also need to remove the hairpin turn, but that may cost thousands more dollars, if it's doable at all.
We need an engineer!
If there is anyone out there who knows about this stuff, please contact us asap!! We need someone who knows what they are doing to come look at Fluffy and give us an estimate as to the cost and options of removing the hairpin turn (if it's possible at all). We have several people's opinions, but we'd really like to have a professional come look at it. If you, or someone you know, is an engineer who would have knowledge about this stuff, please contact Annwfn at annwfn@annwfn.org or 707-548-9773.
Blessings & Love,
Kiara
