******************
Greetings & Salutations!

Beltane quickly approaches, and with it the promise of deep magick and joyous revelry. This year the festival will be held entirely in Pwyll's Meadow and the surrounding woodlands as it was in days gone by. Even as old customs are renewed, change is thick in the air at Annwfn. This dark moon Beltane is a time where we may release that which no longer serves, and open to the wisdom that exists within our land, our tribe, and ourselves. Major themes for the weekend include healing, renewal, and building community.

What is your intention? What is Our intention? This ceremony has its own intention ... to weave us together through the next cycle. Clarify your intentions before the gathering starts. Come prepared to step into the Practice of Perfect Love and Perfect Trust. Arrive Ready! Remember what has worked in the past, and what hasn't. Let us embrace what works and build upon it.

What can you expect at Beltane this year? Many things! Loving our Sanctuary, healing and renewing the Earth. Frolicking, gamboling, sauntering, and carousing. Dressing up, flirting, making friends, hanging out. Safe and sensual loving. Cooking big delicious meals and doing the dishes together. Singing and drumming around the fire. Playing in the woods, celebrating the season, doing our tribal magic. Turning the Wheel!

HOW CAN I HELP OUT?
How nice of you to ask! The success of this year's festival depends more than ever on community involvement and participation. We are all co-creating this festival together. No one is in charge, and we all are. Please be responsible for yourself and actively look for ways to support our Beltane gathering.

A GREAT way to support the festival is to mail in your festival donation if you have not already done so. The suggested donation for the festival $50-$200 per adult. You can do it! Make checks payable to "Annwfn" and mail them to:
Annwfn
PO Box 48
Calpella, CA 95418

Limited work trade is available at $10/hr. For more information on arranging a work trade, call Juan at (707) 486-1419 or email him at: xolotl2001@yahoo.com. Some specific goods and items--such as flowers, food, gasoline--will also be accepted in trade for cash donations. If you wish to do a work trade, or to bring supplies in place of a cash donation, please contact Juan ASAP.

We ask that everyone offer at least one hour of community service to support the festival. There will be a sign up sheet on the community board near the registration table with a variety of needful tasks. Please take a moment to sign up when you arrive and register.

Here are just a few of the jobs just waiting for your loving attention:
*Four wheel drive shuttling from the lower lot to the upper meadow
*Merry Schleppers to help folks unload and get gear moved across the meadow to the campsites
*Kitchen Witches to help keep the kitchen area clean and organized
*Flower Children to bring flowers for decorating altars and making beautiful crowns for our new May Royalty
*Friendly Fairies to organize and lead activities for the Kidz Path
*Beltane Brunch preparation. We need you!

IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD
We ask that every one Be Aware of the young ones—be they toddlers or teens—that dwell amongst us. Take a moment to connect with some of our kids; they are super cool, and they are the link to our future.

A Kidz Zone will be created in just the right spot in the meadow. If you have items that will enhance the Kidz zone--rugs, pillows, small chairs, etc.--please bring them with you to the festival.

Parents! Help contribute to a great Kidz Zone by bringing books, face painting supplies, costume items, art supplies, stickers, and any other little treats that will help our young ones to have just as fabulous a time as we big people plan to enjoy at Beltane.

Jonna and Ryan will host a kids dinner of pasta and fruit at 6pm on Friday evening, and then circle with the children at 7pm to prepare them for their role in the Opening Ritual.

We are seeking volunteers to organize the Kidz Path during the time that the May Games will be held on Saturday, from about 12:30pm-3pm. If you would like to take up this important work, please let us know! Contact Travis at travio@gmail.com.

THE VILLAGE KITCHEN
We will create a kitchen in the upper meadow for the preparation of all of our meals. One propane stove/oven will available to use. There will also be a designated area for setting up additional stoves, so if you have a camp stove, please bring it along to use and share.

In order to better love our Earth Mother, we ask that each person bring their own cup, bowl, plate, and eating utensils. A cloth napkin is also a nice touch if you have one, and don't forget your chalice!

Additional kitchen supplies such as dish towels, sponges, dish drainers, and dish washing tubs are also needed. We encourage you to bring these items along with you if you have them!

FESTIVAL FOOD
All meals for the weekend are left up to individuals. In the spirit of community building, please bring along enough and some to share. The Saturday evening and Sunday morning meals will be potluck. Talk to your friends and see what they plan to bring. Do as much food preparation ahead of time as you can. Coordinate. Delicious, nutritious dishes are encouraged!

There is no refrigerator in the upper meadow. There will be no refrigerator usage in the lower village. Please bring an ice chest and extra ice for your chilled food and an animal-proof container (such as a Rubbermaid bin) for your dry foods. Coolers and bins may be stored at your campsites or right in the kitchen if you wish. It is a good idea to label your cooler and your food bins.

Wash water has been restored to the upper meadow, but we ask that each person bring along a of couple gallons of potable water to be sure that we have enough for drinking and cooking. Water shared is life shared!

CAMPING
Dozens of wonderful campsites have been reclaimed in the woodland adjacent to the upper meadow. Most of them can comfortably fit a 4 person tent, while some of the larger sites will accommodate the Really Big Tents.

Everyone is encouraged to make their camp in the upper woodland. Camping in the lower village is also an option for those with special needs. A shuttle will run periodically to the meadow as needed to assist those that are camping in the lower village.

The upper meadow and woodlands are equipped with three privies and running water for hand washing. Remember, no pee in the privies. Please water a tree!

We ask that all fire be used in designated areas only. A comfortable smoking area will be designated for those amongst us that choose to use tobacco.

WHAT TO BRING
A tent, tarps for your tent, sleeping bag, warm blankets, flashlight (it's a dark moon!)
Warm clothes and hat for chilly nights, layered clothing, cloak or windbreaker
Rain gear, sunscreen, sun hat, towels
personal toiletries, personal medications, ear plugs, biodegradable shampoo and toothpaste (all water drains into the land!)
personal eating gear/utensils, cooler, food & beverages
extra ice for the community beverage trough, extra toilet paper for the privies, trash bags for your campsite
An offering for the Bardic on Saturday night—a song, poem, performance, etc.
Drums, musical instruments, songs to share
Checks or cash for the Silent Auction
Willingness to pitch in where help is needed
A vision of what you want this community to be/look/feel like

SILENT AUCTION
There will be a silent auction at Beltane to raise money for the various projects critical to Annwfn's well being—projects including the water system, the road, and routine maintenance costs.

WE NEED YOUR HELP organizing and running the Silent Auction! You can help by:
* Working with Wren to organize and coordinate the Silent Auction!
* Donating items. Look around your home for those items you don't really need or use which someone else might love: magical tools, art, CDs, great books, special candles, musical instruments, etc.
* Offering services or craft work for auction—counseling, body work, tattoos, house cleaning, house painting, jewelry, home brews, portraits, etc.
* Picking up, sorting and organizing items as needed by the silent auction coordinator
* Bidding on items you like (bring $$ or checks for this!)

LEAVE NO TRACE
Please plan to take away from Annwfn whatever trash and recycling you create at Annwfn. Haul away your own, and then some. Do your best to walk lightly on the land. Let us leave our spiritual sanctuary cleaner than we found it.

Don't Bring a Mess * Don't Be a Mess * Don't Leave a Mess

CARPOOLING
Is encouraged. If you have room in your car and would like to offer a ride to a fellow pagan, or if you need a ride, make it known by emailing Juan at: xolotl2001@yahoo.com.

Contact Juan if you need directions to Annwfn.

The Moon Ritual was FABULOUS. Mother Earth showered us with her love (rain) all weekend and it worked out perfectly. Instead of being outside in the Moon Circle, we were all cozy in the Temple. There were 14 of us - including 13y.o. Galin. We had a beautiful meal of three different kinds of soup and stew - it was cold and everyone had the same idea it seems. After supper we all moved into the Temple for the ritual. It was a ritual of Self-Expression and Self-Actualization that I made up; everyone enjoyed it - even Kat who doesn't usually enjoy the stuffiness of rituals. I was nervous because my Moon Rituals aren't the same as a "regular" Sabbat Ritual, but it worked out very well and many people appreciated the community-oriented and close-knit feeling. I really feel that I was able to circulate the love and healing that I wanted to - I'm building on my Priestess style of healing! I only wish that I had someone to play the soft drum beat during meditation - or Vince to play the didgeridoo! Mother even poured down her cleansing rains at the right moments in the ritual and meditation. I had a cold going into the weekend and ended up with no voice (off-and-on) Sunday after the ritual - but it was worth it.

The following weekend (last weekend) was Annwfn's 30th year Jubilee anniversary and it was GREAT!! Oberon and Morning Glory came as well as Art and Jeanne and Sequoia even made it! There was a wonderful mix of those who have been involved with the land for years and some who were very new to the land. I made a cake into the shape of beautiful full breasts and everyone enjoyed it. I was talked into serving the cake topless (in the COLD weather) - it was definitely a celebration that Gwydion would have appreciated, I feel. Oberon even found and brought the old Forever Forests banner and put it up at Annwfn.

The only thing I wish I had done for the two weekends was 1) put the signing book out so everyone would sign (and hopefully donate) and 2) join everyone together in a circle around the table for a blessing of the food - we've always done it at Annwfn before, I don't know why I didn't think of it at the time; I guess I was just very busy cooking and stuff.

Annwfn is thriving!! There is change and new beginnings in the air and excitement is abound!

A new door graces the Goat Lodge which eliminates the draft in the ante room. Also, two windows have been inserted into the Goat Lodge ante room – where there used to be opaque plastic on the window cut-outs are now windows to bring in sunlight and faerie dust! The roof has also been fixed on the Goat Lodge (as of October) as well as the addition of some beautiful (5) new steps.

Come visit Annwfn and see the new Rain Water Catch System that Joe, Juan and Geoff designed and installed. The water rushes down the installed gutter, through a filtration system on top of a barrel and is collected to be added to the water supply. They’ve also put in a over-flow system so the water will not pool up in front of the Goat Lodge during really rainy weather (if the barrel is not emptied often enough) – the extra water now runs through a pipe and is spilled out down the hill safely.

The six new solar panels purchased with Beltaine revenue have been hooked up to the DC power!! We’re on our way to having full AC power in the Goat Lodge – WooHoo!!
To finish the project we need 2 new solar batteries and about 200 yards of romex wire (this hopefully includes enough wire to re-wire the Goat Lodge which is currently wired inadequately).

In the garden the Caretakers have finished the Strawberry Spiral and successfully transplanted several strawberry plants from the already full spiral sections to the newly re-formed spirals. It looks WONDERFUL! I simply cannot wait for all the fresh strawberries and strawberry jam and strawberry pie and strawberry mead – oh my – that will surely come this summer!!

There are plans to update the watering system in the garden; hopefully we all can get in on the action with a planned work party. There are also some great new dreams for the garden including planting more vegetables and fruit! Which reminds me: there’s now a new fruit garden up above the Red House that is home to a few trees (I don’t recall the kind, sorry) and some raspberry bushes as well as a few roses. There are hopes to plant blueberries and much more!!

One of the new Caretakers, Laura, is a blossoming artist and she’s left her faerie mark on Annwfn – to the delight of the Deities and faeries and pagans alike! The new garden shed (which is big!) has been painted with a beautiful rendition of the Native American creation myth. It’s a beautiful sight when lounging in the garden under a full moon – a must see!

Apple Tree has outdone herself this year and all the Caretakers took joy in gathering her fruit and creating many sweets – apple butter, apple pie, and apple tart, oh my! Home made, organic apple butter is available for a small donation to Annwfn, please contact Aileen for more details – 707-468-4661.

2008 will be a magnificent year for Annwfn – it’s in the air and we will manifest it!!

First of all, Merry Yule!!
We hope everyone is having a wonderful time snuggling with loved ones and enjoying the company of friends to fight off the chilly weather; reminiscing about the moments that took your breath away in this past year.

Annwfn has been going through a rather lengthy and difficult process for the last couple of months and the outcome is that we need to ask for your support....

Road Assessment (to GFR for keeping the Main Ranch Road up to par so we can drive up to our Faerie Village) and Insurance bills are due soon ((Dec. 20th)) and Annwfn is experiencing a bit of a dry spell. The total amount due is about $600. The new Caretakers have exhausted their pocketbooks with Annwfn upkeep, bless their hearts, so are unable to help as much as they would like to.

If you can spare any amount - even $5 - please contact Annwfn soon. Send donations (checks made payable to "Annwfn") to:
August 31 - September 2
This weekend will be celebrated with a lot of hard work. We will clean up the Ancestral lower lot and the Lower Parking lot of dead vehicles (take them away to the dump and make more room for future plans) and debris. There are many plans in the making for the area called the Ancestral Lower Lot; this is the first step.
BONUS: Pizza will be provided for all hearty workers!!

It's been a wonderful summer at Annwfn - not too hot. I got a call from Jack the other day and he reported that 65 pears were harvested from the garden pear tree!! Also, because it's been a mild summer, there are still strawberries on the Strawberry Spiral just waiting to be snacked upon or turned into a yummy pastry. The apple tree has been baring fruit galore! Tamar is making apple pie, apple crisp, and any other apple pastry you can think of! Ohh la la!!

So, next weekend, I will be at Annwfn helping to clear away the Ancestral lot of debris and get some good hard work in. Giving my physical love to this piece of Mother Gaea that we have been charged with protecting.

Who will be there to celebrate with me?
Oh! And have some of Tamar's famous apple crisp!! YUMMY!

Since June we 5 new stewards have put in at least $1300.00 of our own money
towards making Annwfn a livable place.

A lot of progress has been made. But there is much more to be done.

Despite the fact that we installed 2 more water tanks, the spring has all but
run dry for the summer. We won't have enough water to make it until next
winter.

We've cut about half the wood we will need for this year, But our chainsaws
are out of gas now.

We have a truck loaded full of junk and trash, but we cannot afford the cost to
take it to the dumps.

We 5 are all living in the goat lodge and living off of pasta and pancakes.

Our accounts are overdrawn since this recent insurance payment.

And now we literally cannot afford a barrel to poop in. Which we do in fact need
emminently.

I know there has been conflict over where funds are going. People don't know
who to trust anymore.

I implore this community to at least give us new stewards, who hold no grudges
nor hidden agendas a fighting chance.

If you. Find it difficult even to trust us with your donations. Then don't.

Bring us things instead of cash. Gasoline is always useful. We cold use a lot of
Romex cable right now for our power system upgrade.

We also need 4 batteries ($75 each) to upgrade the goat lodge's power system
and lessen our use of the gasoline generator.

Speaking of the goat lodge, any and all roofing materials would be greatly
apreciated.

At least this way, there will be no questioning where your donation is going.

We need volunteers for Beltaine. We especially need Rangers. Rangers are people who will be charged with making sure that through all of the good times people will remain safe. They will be the few who will be allowed to enter any situation to make sure that everyone is safe. They must be someone that has attended Annwfn festivals for a full turn of the year. The shifts will be for 2-3 hours, and there are shirts that need to be worn so people can spot you no matter what. These will be provided. We don't expect for there to be any problems, but if there are, the Rangers take care of it. Please contact me if you are interested and I will connect you with the people necessary. Also there will be a sign up sheet for other volunteer positions, cooking, cleaning, ritual prep and clean up, shuttle and a variety of other things. Please be thinking about what you would like to do and if you know please contact Kia and she will sign you up. Thank you in advance for all of the time
everyone will invest in making Beltane great!
Sam

Dear Friends

Jack phoned me this afternoon with effusive and ecstatic praise for
your great response to the new festival pre-registration process. He
phoned with a new stack of unopened mail in his hand, as well as over
$1500 in previously opened checks (to be cashed after the 1st). In
addition, I have forwarded $200 sent by PayPal.

Your adaptation to the new system has been wonderful, and it will
certainly lead to better festivals! It is definitely a stretch for
some of us (myself included) to actually commit to something weeks in
advance! Jack also reported that new solar panels are on the way,
and soon the Goat Lodge will have 120V AC available.

Also today, I received a pleasant surprise from another source. Anna
Korn, one of the original Ents/Caretakers of Annwfn, sent us $240 for
the royalties on the CD The Best of Pagan Song containing Gwydion's
inspirational song "We Won't Wait Any Longer."

Serpentine Music owner Anne Hill told me by phone today that we will
soon be receiving the profits from the new 2-CD set The Music of
Gwydion, which she produced last year. For more on this go to the
updated page:
http://www.annwfn. org/index. cfm?PageID= 149&CategoryID= 44

See you a Beltaine!
VOLUNTEERING:
It takes a community to put on something this big and this good. People are already volunteering for various duties, but there is still much that needs doing. There will be a Sign-Up Volunteer sheet at the Registration Table at the entrance to Annwfn where everyone will sign up for 2 shifts.
Duties include: Dishes, Kitchen Moniter, Shuttle Run (Unfortunately, Jack's Jeep has bit the dust so those who would like to volunteer for Shuttle Run must have their own 4x4 vehicle.

If you would like to help out by volunteering before the event, you will be highly praised. We need help with everything: cooking during the event, bringing supplies (flowers, ect..) for the event, staying on Monday to help clean-up, ect.. If you can bring supplies or would like to volunteer to help out before/after the event, please contact Kiara.
After the Walpurgisnaught Rite in the Moon Circle on Saturday there will be a Bardic and Vigil for those who would like to keep the party going all night up at the Beltaine Meadow Fire Circle.

* The Beltaine Meadow will be available for all sexual and raunchy celebrating that the May embarks upon you. The Garden and Faery Village will be for the innocent energies of the youth. * Please respect this request!
