Did I post this yet? Maybe I did. But it happened again...
I went to the coffeehouse
intending to forget
our lov and bury
my sorrows, but
you emerged
from the bottom of my
coffee cup,
a white rose.

Re: Cup and Rose
Fri, June 27, 2008 - 1:21 PMWho is the you that emerges from the bottom of the cup? the lover he went to forget or someone new? I say he went to forget and bury, but that love was not gone, and she was still there. What is the significance of the "white" rose?
Time and again I see the rose used in connection with love. Must love have thorns as well as beauty and sweetness?
Speak to me of love and I will listen... -

Re: Cup and Rose
Mon, June 30, 2008 - 1:55 PMLIta, I am known to spin a line of my own now and then.
"Speak to me of love and I will listen" just happened because of the thoughts I was thinking... which is rare when I am at work!
Let us see what these other poems bring!

Re: Cup and Rose
Fri, June 27, 2008 - 8:38 PMI think, the white rose is just the milk foam left from the cappuccino, Andrew. ; )
Of course, it could be the new innocent looking self of his beloved, washed clean of all resentment and imagined sins after he has missed her long enough to yearn for her again, who knows... These short poems are so simple, I love to dwell on them in silence, like on a small, painful haiku. ; )
