I am taking sort of an educated guess here. I have discovered a singer whose songs I absolutely love and they are so perfect for dancing Oriental style, each and every one of them that I have heard. He is also from Syria, his looks are nowhere as ravishing as Kazem's but his voice.... He used to be a Koran singer.

Nour Mehanna
Here are the lyrics for this song which I believe, is another love song. Would someone please be so kind to translate this one for us, I have been all over the internet and this is the only page I could find, all in Arabic script. Now, I am not intending to transform our tribe into another bellydance lyrics transation tribe, I am just trying to add another poem here...and would like to know if his words are as great as his voice. Help, please ! Thank you.

Re: Saeed en nas (Nour Mehanna lyrics)
Sat, April 19, 2008 - 12:27 AMBy the way, take a look at the dance they are performing in this video. It looks to me like a fusion of the Royal court dances the used to perform during Baroque and Rokoko days (menuett etc.), Sevillanas (flamenco folklore from Sevilla) and competitive ballroom dance. Far more elegant than the usual Bellydance-disco blend you get on Oriental mtv programs. Is this kind of dance performance common at elegant banquets in Syria, I wonder? -

Re: Saeed en nas (Nour Mehanna lyrics)
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 2:28 AMBelieve it or not, today I was on my way to work, walking down that Tokyo street from the subway station with my earphones on, listening to Nour Mehana. At some point I got so carried away that I must have started singing out loud, "Ya habiiibi!" etc. (you never know how loud because you cannot hear yourself through the earphones), and the man in front of me stopped in his tracks, turned around , stared and smiled at me in amazement. He was Middle Eastern! = O
Maybe he thought, I was singing for him, uh oh...! -

Fri, April 25, 2008 - 9:45 AMNo, he did not say anything, he just gave me a long twinkly look of surprise.
How long? Long enough to know I will never become Japanese.
