LOOKING FOR AN OUD PLAYER
FOR A GIG IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA
IN JULY 2008

My Eastern/World Fusion Trance Groove Band AXIS MUNDI
will be playing at the famous world music and dance venue
ASHKENAZ in Berkeley on July 20th, 2008.

We are creating an "opening act" to bring with us - a small middle
eastern trio, along with a wonderful Belly Dancer who will also Teach
a little belly dance to the crowd. Myself -Auntie Matter on Doumbek,
and Lisa Sangita Moskow on electronic Qaunoon/Santoor, will join up
with an Oud player and form the musical Trio. Then the Belly Dancer
will also dance free form along with the audience dancers while Axis
Mundi is playing the main Trance Dance set.

The performers get a percentage of the door at Ashkenaz, which is
one of the oldest and most popular live world music venues in the Bay
Area, with a fabulous sound system and a huge sprung-wood dance
floor. Many many groups put in applications to play there, and only a
handful are selected - so this is your chance to get to play a gig there
without having to go through the application/acceptance process!

Ashkenaz and Axis Mundi both do a huge amount of professional publicity
and promotion, and we would also want you to promote the event to your
circle of friends and fans. The more people who turn out, the more money
we all make. Plus this is an opportunity for great exposure to a wonderful
audience!

Some very minimal rehearsal time will be required, which will probably take
place in San Rafael, Marin.

A FUSION style Oud player who is into IMPROVISATION would be better
than someone really traditional.
