When I first found out I was pregnant, the thing I dreaded most was giving birth. I've heard such horror stories. Thanks to my friend, Chrissy, though, my fears were relieved. The way she put it, our bodies are made to give birth. It hurts, but it's a good pain, something that is supposed to happen, not like a broken leg. Each contraction accomplishes something.

Sat, January 20, 2007 - 1:40 AMforget about the words contraction, pain, hurt, fear.
expansion. sensation. progression. every thing you feel means you're closer to freeing the life that has been growing inside you. one of my birth class teachers has given us the exercise of holding ice in one hand for as long as a rush lasts (a contraction). while holding it, practice focusing on breath, or focusing on the objects around you, or the smells, or visualize yourself in a different place. it really helps.
you can do it :) we are made for this. -
