Hi folks,
as I am a percussionist I'd like to know if someone has a list of all rhythms used in Armenia (or even western armenian rhythms from anatolia)...
I did my researches and just found out that the jurjuna rhythm (10/8) is of Armenian origin....but what about the rhythms played on the dhol? (those 6/8, 12/18 rhythms?? I have no names )
greetings see ya
bye

Re: armenian rhythms
Wed, June 17, 2009 - 11:44 AMThat's correct with the Jurjuna, the 6 and 12's I've only hear references as being called an "Armenian 6/8"
For the Dohl, they also use similar 6/8 patterns that the Persians play.
Line dances also use the same 2/4 rhythm pattern (bar) that's heard in Greek and Turkish folk music, and Kef music. -
