Re: Sadly, the editing doesn't help the dancing one bit...
Fri, July 31, 2009 - 12:57 PMThis has nothing to do with bellydancing!!!!! I wish that people who are doing this vaudeville style stuff would call it something else.

Fri, July 31, 2009 - 5:41 PMBetter yet - get your *own* gimmick rather than trying to be (a poor imitation of) someone else. I mean, c'mon, Le Serpent Rouge - no one will ever know... -

Sat, August 1, 2009 - 7:18 PMWas there dancing? I sat through 40+ seconds of girls fanning themselves and I got too bored to watch any more.

Fri, July 31, 2009 - 5:45 PMSomewhere near the beginning of this tribe someone posted this and there's a whole thread of these things. But I can't remember the name of the thread or what to search for.

Re: Sadly, the editing doesn't help the dancing one bit...
Sat, August 1, 2009 - 5:25 AMI'd have to agree. The editing does not help the dancing one bit. I don't know, I've seen quite a few of these types of videos on this tribe. (I call them fan vids.) My theory is that they come predominantly from countries/places where tribal is practically non-existent and the girls there are having a harder time getting good training to really learn what the hell they're doing, how the moves are really executed, how to put their own stuff together (youtube-taught dancers, unite!). I have less tolerance for people in the US who do the same thing. I have no idea where these girls fall...I'm hoping they're not from the US, because - hello?? - calling yourself the "Serpent Troupe" and copping moves from the Indigo??? (tacky....)
I think it would be a harmless (also pretty darn near talentless) video if they'd had the respect to put who they'd lifted their routine from in the description...and if they changed their name...and a few other things....but other than that my only complaint is the have spazzy hands...and the editing is SOOOO distracting and horrible...and at least one of them has absolutely no sense of rhythm.
But other than that, I'm good. -

Re: Sadly, the editing doesn't help the dancing one bit...
Sat, August 1, 2009 - 12:04 PMOkay, yes, we know the Indigo come up with brilliant ideas for fusion themes. But really, does every mediocre bellydancer-lemming have to flock to the ideas like zombies to fresh, bloody brains?
Another thing that really irritates me about Indigo-wannabes: they try to pull off that effortless, rolled-out-of-bed-and-started-dancing look the Indigo has, and it NEVER WORKS. Why? Because the Indigo really ARE putting effort into it; they've just mastered the skill of practiced nonchalance. Damn near everyone else who tries just looks lazy and sloppy.
Grrr. Sorry. I got myself started. I'm going to fold laundry and chill out now. XD
