Ladies,

You should know that your sword routine on the stairs makes you look like belly dance ninjas who have been hired as a security force rather than the entertainment. Thumbs up to you on that. However, do any of you ladies actually dance? I can't tell because every one has a damn prop to work around. Where's the dancing? I only see repetitive spinning and some half-ass cane moves. And are hip scarves badges of honor? Can only fearless ninja belly dancers wear them? Does a hip scarf denote tribal leadership? I wanna know because your "Saidi" number only has one hip scarf and three ladies. Looks tacky, I think. C'mon, you two other ladies can get hip scarves from eBay for like 15 bucks. Don't be so stingy!

So I go to my hafla Saturday. First of all, there are 3--count'em, 3--of us in all. Then, we hear that the rec center where we were going to perform was quarantined because of exposure--you're never gonna believe this--to swine fuckin' flu.

Fine, we have our tiny little workshop, which was actually nice, lots and lots of attention, anyway. We go to this little coffee house in this itty bitty town. Cute set up with maybe 2 patrons in the whole place, though it's set up in front of a window, so we hope that brings in more people.

Right before I go on, the owner's (?) kid comes in. He has Tourette's. I'm not kidding. Not the kind like yelling out racial epithets or anything, but that he can't stop talking...LOUDLY...so loudly that you can't even hear the music.

So, to hell with it. I'm gonna dance anyway. Except for a making a few monkey arms and weird expressions and the Tourette's kid in the background and the fact that you can't even hear the beautiful music playing, it's going okay. Then my hair--tucked into a neat 20s style tango-ish bun, falls--not all the way, which might have looked cool in the "I-meant-to-do-that" way, but only halfway down my back.

BUT...the important thing is that I made it and I did not land on my ass...even more importantly, the whole thing was sort of a gas, people walking in front of us on camera and everything. Very Armoire Award and no...don't even think about it. HAHAHA

Just thought I'd keep you posted...;)
