Intro

Hey everyone! Welcome!
I am a middle school art teacher in Sunnyvale for a school that has campuses around the Bay Area and in Utah. We all met last week for workshops and bounced ideas off one another. It was so interesting and so useful, we decided to keep in touch via email. I'm taking it one step further and making a forum so hopefully we can get input from lots of different sources.
If I have it my way we'll have projects that span elementary to high school So please, any good ideas/projects you have for teaching kids in the arts, let us know. Thanks!

This is a great idea. Perhaps others around the country will join in time. Much needed chat space.

    Thanks, Jen!
I have a great lesson in installation art and fibers.
Discuss installation art and artists: Eva Hesse
Take different colored yarn, ribbon and string and have the students fill a space: classroom, outside space with trees, anywhere there are places to tie the ends or wrap the yarn around. The artists collaborate and create a giant, colorful "web" that is site specific and makes a statement!
My class loved this so much- we did this project around halloween- that we left it in the class ( we tied it up to the ceiling tiles so we could walk and work under it.)
    Have fun!
