Hey Everybody: I am going to hoop outside election lines in Raleigh Tuesday from 5:30 on. Lines are expected to be long and this is a way that you can help support voters -- by entertaining them while they wait. Yes, this was Obama's idea. It is not partison though. It helps every voter. Here is information from the Obama Campaign if you want to join in!

Dear Volunteer performers,

I’m a volunteer for the Obama campaign in North Carolina and am helping recruit volunteer performers to entertain people standing in line waiting to vote on Election Day. Sometimes the lines get really long and we want to keep voters happy while they wait.

We are looking for musicians, magicians, singers, acrobats, jugglers, tap-dancers, rap artists, clowns, mimes, puppeteers, basketball tricks, dog tricks, stilt walkers, church choirs, barbershop quartets, and anybody else who can volunteer to entertain a crowd and help keep every last Obama voter in line until they have voted! We are asking performers to be at selected polling places by 5:30pm on November 4 and entertain voters in line until everybody has voted. Polls close at 7:30pm, but performers could potentially be there until 9:00pm.

As a member of North Carolina’s creative community, we wondered if you yourself might be interested in volunteering to perform and/or if you could forward this email to your creative/performer friends and anyone you think could spread the word to performers. We especially need the help in Asheville, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Fayetteville, Rocky Mount, Greenville, Elizabeth City, and Wilmington.

Please click on www.nc.barackobama.com/ncperform to sign up to volunteer to perform.

Please click on www.duopoly.net/CALL-FOR-V...FORMERS.pdf to download the poster and post it on bulletin boards at nearby theater departments, music departments, casting offices, churches with choirs. THANK YOU!

_________
Thank you so much for signing up to volunteer to help entertain voters standing in LONG LINES waiting to vote on Tuesday. If you have not received a call already, you will be hearing soon from either Emily or Marissa, who will be your coordinators on Election Day, this Tuesday, November 4th.

Emily’s contact: (919) 280-4134, pomeranze@dnc.org
Marissa’s contact: (703) 403-8873, mpmitrovich@gmail.com

I will not be available, but Emily or Marissa will tell you where you are needed and what time, and can answer any questions you have.
A few basic things:
· We will probably need you around 5:30 pm and until till the polls close
· We will get calls from the field telling us where there are long lines and either Emily or Marissa will call you and tell you the address to go to.
· It’s rain or shine
· Legally you have to be at least 50 feet from the poll, so we cannot provide an electrical outlet or cover from the elements.
· For musicians, acoustic acts are ideal, but in any case please plan on being self-sufficient
· Please do not GIVE anything physical to the voters – for you jugglers and clowns and artists, no giving of sketches, no balloon animals, etc. (you may face-paint CHILDREN only, not ADULT voters, but please do not paint anything partisan). Please do not juggle or do anything with flame.

If you have not already signed up on the system (Abel, Bash, Hardin), please do so as soon as possible: www.nc.barackobama.com/ncperform

If you have other friends who want to join the effort, please have them sign up right away at www.nc.barackobama.com/ncperform (we can still use more help, especially in Winston-Salem, Wilmington, Greenville, Rocky Mt., Elizabeth City, and Fayetteville!)

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! You are volunteering for a wonderful cause – to help encourage voters to stay in line and cast their vote. EVERY VOTE COUNTS! Especially in North Carolina!

Many thanks and best wishes,Liz Manne
