Cuurently there is a bill on the docket in New Mexico to ban aspartmae - an artificial sweetener known to cause up to 92 different health problems as well as cancer. There is now a worldwide effort to this aim and the first step is the bill in New Mexico. If that is passed it will set a precedent. The purpose of this email is to get the information out to all of you that this is happening.
The text of the bill is here - if you want to read it. legis.state.nm.us/Sessions/...B0654.html <legis.state.nm.us/Sessions/...0654.html>
If you personally are concerned about this being in our food and medicine and want to see it gone, or know anyone who is, you can call or write the House at the New Mexico legislature - here is the alpha list, the VIP who are going to be voting on this - legis.state.nm.us/lcs/lcsdo...List06.PDF It would be especially helpful to send them the stories of people who have become sick and recovered from stopping all use - and most importantly, if you know someone who LIVES IN NEW MEXICO. :)
And, if you want more information on the story of aspartame and the illnesses it causes, that is also provided at the bottom of this email via a forwarded email from a representative on the east coast, Dr. Betty Martini.
Also, I was provided the following information from the representative from New Mexico working on this - the information is below:

Below is an email clip with information on aspartame. If you want even more after that, let me know. One of my colleagues at Bastyr is personally involved in a project here in Washington called "Life is Sweet" that is directed at providing diabetics with healthier food choices - since the predominant advice given to the majority of diabetics these days is to subsititue sugar with artificial sweeteners and the widest used right now is aspartame.
Also, if you want to work with her on getting aspartame banned here in Washington State, please let me know. I would be more than happy to pass along contact info.

Dear Dr. Calabresi,
With regard to the question about aspartame in medication
As far as government agencies, understand they
have a relationship with the manufacturers. You
might contact Dr. Sandra Cabot in Australia and
she will verify this. She is Mission Possible
Australia, doctorcabot@ozemail.com.au You can
contact Mission Possible New Zealand, Chris
Wheeler, taoist2@pl.net A good deal of the New
Zealand Parliament was sent the Report For
Schools which you should read on the front banner of www.wnho.net
The FDA actually revoked the petition for
approval. Here it is with a clip from Sweet
Misery: A Poisoned World, that explains how this
toxin got on the market, thanks to the political
chicanery of Don Rumsfeld who was at one time CEO
of Searle: www.wnho.net/fda_petition1.doc <students.bastyr.edu/exchweb/...redir.asp
In New Zealand you can also contact Dr. Woodrow
Monte who wrote the journal article, Aspartame:
Methanol and the Public Health which we have on
dorway.com He may currently be in Canada and his email is monte12@shaw.ca
Currently there are efforts around the world to
ban this deadly chemical that should never have
been approved and has caused a global
plague. Here is one of the new
releases: www.mpwhi.com/banning_aspartame.htm <students.bastyr.edu/exchweb/...redir.asp
Most importantly you should know that aspartame
interacts with all drugs and vaccines:
www.wnho.net/aspartame_interacts.htm <students.bastyr.edu/exchweb/...redir.asp This
lady should immediately be sent this report and
she needs to take it to her physician. It is
imperative that you let her and her physician
know about not taking anything with this chemical.
There is no safe dose, and neurosurgeon Russell
Blaylock, M.D., author of Excitotoxins: The Taste
That Kills, www.russellblaylockmd.com says the
reactions to aspartame are not allergic but toxic
like arsenic and cyanide. He has an excellent
lecture, The Truth About Aspartame, which you can get at www.atavistic.com
The Ramazzini Study in Italy shows aspartame to
be a multipotential carcinogen which confirms
FDA's original findings. And yes, aspartame
breaks down to DKP, a brain tumor agent, that
triggered brain tumors in original studies.
All these new studies are on www.wnho.net and you
can find a lot of government documents on
www.dorway.com The Trocho Study shows the
formaldehyde converted from the free methyl
alcohol embalms living tissue. It damages DNA.
Dr. Adrian Gross, the late FDA Toxicologist,
told Congress that an allowable daily dose
should have been able to be set since aspartame
without a shadow of a doubt triggers brain tumors
and brain cancer. All these reports and one of
the three congressional hearings are on the web sites mentioned.
Incidentally, the only person I know of that
drank as many as 17 diet drinks a day was in a
coma at the Mayo Clinic. There is no safe dose!
