I live in fear that one day I will not pay close enough attention and accidentally use a frozen cube of brine shrimp in place of a frozen cube of crushed garlic in the recipe I am making. Or just as bad...accidentally feed my fishies frozen garlic instead of brine shrimp!

Re: I live in fear
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 6:49 PMWhat's funny is that garlic can help rid animals of worms. I remember those foul, frozen pop-tart size packets of brine shrimp, smelling like Davey Jones armpit, Hard to confuse it with anything else in the freezer. -

Re: I live in fear
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 9:09 PMdear thistle, when you put the brine shrimp into freeze, you should put a few drops of vegetable food colouring in with them, so that they are a different colour. then you just have to remember which one you dyed. -

Re: I live in fear
Sat, May 3, 2008 - 7:07 AMthe brine shrimp comes pre-packaged in little cubes. The packaging is almost the same as the package of garlic cubes...especially now that the garlic comes with a red cover. At least the frozen bloodworms are gum-dropped shaped and deep red in color...no mistaking them! -

Re: I live in fear
Sat, May 3, 2008 - 7:14 AMDraw on the foil top of the fishy cubes with a sharpie. Something like, "DO NOT EAT ME!!!!!!" with skulls and crossbones might wake you up!

Sat, May 3, 2008 - 9:19 AMHere's a simple fix. Use food coloring. -

Re: I live in fear
Sat, May 3, 2008 - 9:27 AMGet freezer bags and place the garlic cubes, bag and all in a freezer bag...that way you can write on the bag itself and reuse it, when the garlic cubes are gone... -

Re: I live in fear
Sat, May 3, 2008 - 4:33 PMMost commercial brine shrimp are harvested from the Great Salt Lake in Utah, not much else can live in the salt flats of that old, shrunken sea. Totally alien landscape- odd to see where what I fed my fish and frogs as a youth was harvested. -

Re: I live in fear
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 8:34 AMUgh! Never mind. Thistle just offered me some...first frozen, then thawed. Nope, that is nothing that I want to eat. Garlic is much better than brine shrimp and I think I'd rather eat the fish than their food.
Now fishies with garlic...mmmmmm!
