I blame it on our biological recent past - women, being the gathers, hung together getting the green growing stuff, baby tending and chatting up a storm while the men, being the hunters, would plan the hunt, then try and sneak up on the aminals.
It's hard to sneak up on animated food when you're chatting about Ooglie's new tattoo, but roots and berries can't run off.
Plus, a large group of women is less likely to be attacked by a hungry whatever.
The men are out there, carrying weapons, planning mayhem on walking meat and ain't all that worried about hungry whatevers.
