For a metal head, probably my collection of Operas and classical music. I went to see a lot preformed live when I lived in Vienna.

Lets see...from years of doing karaoke with a smattering of DJ (not club DJ), I have reams of music. Garth Brooks, got it. Boz Scaggs, got it, love it. Donna Summers.

I can't think of anything people might be surprised that I listen to and enjoy. I don't own any country, but I do love old timey country cowboy music. Not modern country. blech.

I love when the radio will play an old classic rap song. Like old school 80's rap. That never fails to catch me and make me smile.

so, uhm, paula abdul- straight up.

i could listen to that song 5x/day and get giddy everytime... the funny part is i Never liked any popular music as a kid (inc that) but my best friend loved it and we would Always choreograph routines into the pool and we'd take two steps forward on the jumping board...etc :P

        good memories, love it.

I can't really think of a particular song, but the two styles of music that I really love that people always seem to be really shocked to learn are 1960's garage rock (pageboy haircuts and Vox guitars and organs) and 1970's power pop (skinny ties and Rickenbackers)

Having worked in radio for over 20 years I have VERY ecclectic musical tastes. You are as likely to see me at a Metallica show as you are at the opera or a jazz show or a bluegrass show. I'm also a Deadhead but once Jerry died there was no point in going anymore.

Shockers? I like KISS, only the early makeup days (everything after Love Gun sucks ass). I also have a huge collection of early Madonna and I think Debbie Gibson's "Only In My Dreams" is a well crafted song. I saw some indie band cover it years ago and it rocked.

Totally agree with you on the Kiss. 'Dynasty' was just pure disco and everything after that was just bullshit posing and marketing.

The early stuff was brilliant. I saw them at Madison Square Garden in the early 70's (The Destroyer tour), Cheap Trick opened up. I also saw the Reunion, and Farewell (sure) tour.
