I dont think that Draconic charts have something to do with past lives, the tropical chart is connected with Sun (Ego, self) Draconic relates to Moon (emotional side) I like how Kim Falconer described it:

''I like to think of the natal Draconic chart as a layer of “soul fabric” that lies underneath the outward personality. You can’t see it unless you look deep. Like the silk lining of a jacket, we never think about it being there and it never fully shows, yet it is a substance that makes the wearing of the coat more comfortable—a better fit—and when the breeze flips up an edge and we get a glimpse of that contrasting color and silky texture, we go “ahhh”.''

How to Interpret Draconic Charts by Andrea Arden

The Draconic zodiac is a wonderful tool for illuminating the kinds of experiences you will encounter on your life path. A planet’s Draconic position represents that planet’s role in expressing your soul’s chosen purpose. Mixing the two zodiacs and noting their interaction best shows how that purpose is likely to manifest in this lifetime. In other words, the kind of events and people you draw into your life to learn your soul’s lessons can be found by comparing your Draconic planetary positions to the Tropical planetary positions in your natal chart.

To illustrate, if your Draconic Saturn is conjunct your Tropical Moon, it would suggest that your spiritual need to experience the matters of Saturn in your life (structure, responsibility, limitation, grief, etc.) would manifest through the matters of the Moon (family, the mother, women in general, or feelings). And conversely, if your Draconic Moon is conjunct your Tropical Saturn, it indicates that matters of the Moon are influenced by Saturn in your life, implying that they may be blocked, limited in some way, or even missing altogether. In both examples, whatever manifests is the life condition your soul has chosen as the best way for you to learn your spiritual lessons.

Draconic planets also work another way. If you are not consciously striving to align your life with your soul’s purpose, choosing to ignore it instead, then the Draconic positions often represent your "shadow," which is your unconscious self which you experience through your interactions with others. For instance, having Draconic Mars conjunct your Ascendant suggests that spiritually you have chosen to learn the lesson of assertiveness. However, if you fail to express Mars in a consciously assertive way, you will very likely experience everyone else’s Mars powerfully directed at you. You might even find that Tropical Mars rises in the charts of most of your significant others. Although that may make life seem a little unfair, it’s actually a pretty ingenious process. Sooner or later you will be forced to "own" your own Mars rising (Draconic) to keep everyone you meet from running roughshod over you. It’ll be just a matter of time before you finally stand up for yourself, even if it takes a lifetime or two.

The usual method of examining Draconic positions is to place them outside your natal Tropical chart. The aspects between the two zodiacs seems to take precedence over the signs in which the Draconic planets are found. However, the sign of your Draconic Sun will be very noticeable in your personality. In fact, that sign may be the one people most often guess to be your Sun sign. Angularity is also important in evaluating Draconic positions, for Draconic planets falling near the Ascendant, Midheaven, Descendant, or I.C. will be high focus in your life. In addition, Tropical planets found near your Draconic angles are also highlighted.

In addition to using Draconic positions to interpret individual natal charts, using them in chart comparisons can also be very illuminating. It can show a strong spiritual connection keeping two people together who you might not otherwise think were a good astrological match. Also, as was the case for the Mars rising example above, the Draconic/Tropical combinations in an individual’s chart are often found among the dominant Tropical aspects in the charts of their close friends and relatives. As for transits, Tropical transits to natal Draconic positions are often very descriptive of what’s happening when aspects to the Tropical positions don’t seem to describe an event. In addition, Draconic transits can be used in aspect to Tropical or Draconic positions and often tell the tale when nothing else works. Other astrological techniques, e.g., progressions, directions, solar returns, or composites, are greatly enhanced by adding Draconic placements.

  • DRACONIC ASTROLOGY - A legacy from an ancient past -- Patrizia Trotta

Tracing the origins of Draconic Astrology would be a very difficult task; all we really know about it is that it was used in ancient Babylonian astrology and that it seems to have a "spiritual flavour", so much so that Edgar Cayce himself used it in his readings, in the sense that when given people's birth details, he very often described (under hypnosis as usual) their characteristics as seen from the draconic level of their astrological charts, rather than the more commonly used tropical. Somehow, Draconic Astrology seems to describe the "soul personality", bypassing the more usual physical and psychological levels of reading a chart. This does not mean that Draconic Astrology is not suitable for practical purposes - astrologers using it will soon find that it adds a lot to consultations, as it describes people's inner nature so well. How do we interpret draconic charts? Is this nodal zodiac different? Not really. In fact, because it seems to describe motivation from the soul level, it tends to express the higher principles of signs/aspects/houses, which, being purer, are easier to interpret.

This interesting and increasingly popular branch of astrology uses a zodiac beginning at the Moon's North Node (Nodal Zodiac), which is treated as 0 Aries. The meanings of signs, aspects and houses do not really change - as stated above, their principles are simply expressed in a clearer way. Just to get to the point, what is the meaning of a draconic chart? There are various theories, but to name a few:

    1) Some people say that the draconic level of an individual's chart shows what he/she has done in previous incarnations

    2) According to some theories, it is supposed to show people's soul qualities

    3) Some astrologers feel that it shows the ideal to be reached by the Higher Self during the present incarnation

    4) For some others, it shows the "soul blueprint" and the Higher Self's intentions for the present incarnation

One thing is certain - if we compare the tropical and draconic levels in a horoscope, we will find that certain life-themes will be indicated with great clarity. The links between the two levels (especially conjunctions and oppositions) are likely to represent what the Higher Self has in store for us by simply indicating what the soul should focus on to learn as much as possible and evolve during the present incarnation.

Interestingly, the "windows" Draconic Astrology opens on other (subtler) dimensions of our being, reflect the multidimensionality many of us are beginning to claim as our "real Selves". In this way, Draconic Astrology potentially complements the more common Tropical Astrology exquisitely well, giving clues to our Higher Self and its guidance. Placing draconic positions around the more common Tropical birth planets in a bi-wheel chart will clearly show connections and links between these levels, the most powerful being the conjunctions and the oppositions, particularly to the angles. In my opinion, what is particularly interesting to note for practical purposes are draconic Sun, Moon and Ascendant placements, which seem to give clues to the quality of a person's emotional body, his/her "hidden self".

What is an emotional body? If we accept the principle that we have an "energy component", according to our "subtle anatomy", we are made up of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies. The spiritual body is the one that vibrates faster, feeding all the other "layers" of our being. If we objectively observe the progress of the human race in the past century, we will clearly see that we have evolved considerably on a physical and mental level - we tend to live longer and more comfortably, and technology advancements themselves witness to what extent we have progressed mentally and intellectually (mostly to the detriment of our emotions). But, however important and encouraging this progress is, sadly an imbalance has been created, and we have unquestionably been left with a seriously underdeveloped emotional body which needs a lot of healing.

As our emotional body tends to be unconscious and neglected, it vibrates at a rather slow frequency, seemingly being addicted to unproductive emotions such as fear, anger, worry, etc. Unfortunately, we cannot really say that rapture and bliss are part of our everyday emotional scenarios, plus the difficulties we face in life on a day-to-day basis seem to conspire against developing our emotions to a higher level. As many teachers have been telling us in so many ways, constant exposure to our own spiritual energies from the Higher Self via meditation, deep breathing, crystals, herbal remedies, or whatever other method one chooses to adopt, will eventually result in a natural evolution of our emotional body, and therefore of ourselves. I would argue that logically, if it is true that we are unquestionably heading towards perfection anyway, perhaps an attitude of playfulness, simply listening to our inner voice before making any decision and learning to trust our inner guidance, could be very good ways to speed up our evolution, after all. While we certainly do need more positive role models, perhaps relying on other people, leaders or teachers, is becoming less relevant and necessary, so it seems to me that what we really need for the 21st century is to embrace our own power and become all that we can be by awakening our fearless self. In short, to evolve our emotional body and survive on our planet we will have to learn to vibrate faster and thus embrace our multidimensionality.

As more and more people awaken to their multidimensionality, the "new astrologers" are likely to have an important part to play in the healing of emotions on a global scale, and Draconic Astrology might just be what we need to help people (and ourselves) heal their emotions and regain their power by integrating their unconscious, multidimensional, Cosmic Self. In this article, by using the charts of two well-known people, I'd like to show how a simple application of this method can help the astrologer understand the dynamics of the Nodal zodiac and its potential.

Before we begin, a brief explanation of how to calculate Draconic positions is in order: all you need to do is to subtract the longitude of your North Node from each planet's and angle's longitude. The easiest way is to convert all positions to ABSOLUTE LONGITUDE first, which is their position in the 360circle (i.e. 0 Aries=0 ; 0 Taurus=30 ; 0 Gemini=60 etc. In this way, for example, natal Sun at 10 30' Taurus will become 40 30' in absolute longitude and natal Moon at 25 15' Scorpio will translate as 235 15' in absolute longitude). Of course, a computer program will calculate your Draconic chart in no time - doing it by hand is just a bit more lengthy, but not really difficult.

Once you have your draconic positions, write them (in a different colour maybe) round your natal chart (if you have a computer program, you might like to use a bi-wheel chart) and note any Draco planets on natal angles, and any powerful aspects formed to natal planets. Almost always, important life themes will become evident. It would also be wise to pay particular attention to the signs (and natal houses) that draconic Sun, Moon and Ascendant occupy, as they are usually very revealing and indicate hidden/unconscious talents or tendencies, as well as important areas of growth in this lifetime. As the clearest explanations can only be found in practical examples, let us now analyse very briefly two charts of well-known people.

    PRINCESS DIANA

Details: dr.Venus conjunct Asc.; dr. MC conjunct Venus; dr.Mercury/Sun conjunct Jupiter; dr.Jupiter conjunct Mars/Pluto; dr.Saturn conjunct North Node/Mars; dr.Asc. conjunct Sun, opposition Saturn; dr.Sun in Aquarius in the 2nd house; dr.Moon in Virgo in the 9th house; dr. Asc. in Cancer.

If you observe her natal/draconic charts in a bi-wheel format, you will find that Lady Diana's draco Venus is very prominent, obviously indicating that both loving and relating (Venusian energies) were very important for her soul growth (in her case also doing so publicly). It was one of the areas she had to teach and learn about. Draco Mercury conjunct Jupiter shows how important broadening her own and other people's horizons was. Draco Sun on Jupiter emphasises her love of sports and freedom, as well as her philosophical and philanthropic nature, also well described by dr. Moon in the 9th house. Dr. Asc. conjunct Sun in the 7th might indicate that sharing her own life with the world was necessary for her own growth, too. I find draconic Jupiter conjunct Mars very interesting, as it indicates freedom of action, learning the importance of asserting herself and how to do so effectively (lessons concerning her 'will' are clearly indicated in the Tropical chart as well). Draco Saturn on her North Node/Mars and dr. Asc. opposition Saturn (limitations and restructuring of her energy and public behaviour) seem particularly revealing, in view of the fact that she had to bear many restrictions to her precious freedom in her royal role. It is public knowledge that through all her personal suffering she learned a lot, and accepted the responsibility of sharing what she had learned with the world. Her interest in humanitarian causes is well described by her Draco Sun in Aquarius in the 2nd house, and her eating disorders are indicated by her Cancerian sensitivity mixed with a draconic Moon in Virgo (=psychosomatic ailments), which also describes her wish to be of service. She will certainly be remembered for what she taught the world about love and caring (Venus and Cancer), as well as for her own personal suffering (Saturn), through which she raised people's awareness and showed the importance of personal freedom (Jupiter).

    EDGAR CAYCE

Details: dr.Chiron conjunct MC/Pluto; dr.Uranus opposition North Node, Mercury, Saturn, Venus; dr.Asc. opposition North Node, Mercury, Saturn, Venus; dr. Mercury, Saturn, Venus conjunct Sun; dr. Sun in Aries in the 9th house; dr.Moon in Gemini in the 10th house; dr. Ascendant in Virgo

Interestingly, this very well known psychic known as "the sleeping prophet" had a pioneering role to play (see draconic planets in Aries in the 8th and 9th houses) and was a great teacher of metaphysical realities (dr. Sun in the 9th and Chiron on the MC). Draconic Uranus/Asc. opposition his 7th house stellium in Pisces emphasise how powerful Uranian energies were in his life and in his work with people. As we know, Uranus stands for psychic abilities, innovative tendencies and breaking new ground. Interestingly, he was sometimes plagued by a terrible temper, which bothered him more than anybody else, as he was usually a quiet man - don't the prominent Uranus and the draco planets in Aries "account" for it really well? Draco Moon in Gemini in the 10th really shows how important communication was to his career and personal life. This is confirmed by draco Mercury, conjunct Sun. Draconic Saturn/Venus are also conjunct his natal Sun, indicating that both discipline and love were necessary for his life work and soul growth. In view of what we know about him, is it surprising to find the placement of his draconic Asc. in Virgo, the sign of service?

The above examples were only meant to give ideas and to offer guidelines as to possible uses of Draconic Astrology. I truly hope that you will be encouraged to explore this wonderful legacy from the ancient past to learn more about your own life purpose. It is my belief that Draconic Astrology is coming back on the scenes with perfect timing to help all of us become all that we can be and embrace our Cosmic heritage.

Compare the Tropical chart to the Draconic to examine the theme of the life search for actualization. If the Tropical planetary positions of another persons chart coincides with a Draconic placement in your chart, this person will in some way teach or challenge you to use the abilities of your Draconic planet in a way that sows seeds for future flowering. The same may be said for transits and progressions to those Draconic degrees. Aspects between charts retain their basic interpretations. If by trine; in positive, easy ways that inspire. If by square, by creating tension and cross purposes which may test your resolve. If by opposition a choice must be made, balance must be created, and if by conjunction the lesson may be for good or ill, but certainly important.
Since we have choice to set out on this quest to fulfill our spiritual needs and as the Draconic chart is based on the Aries point which represents taking action, it follows that to manifest the best and highest of our nature we must deliberately seek the characteristics and concepts of the planets and signs Draconically pointed out.
Each individual walks his own unique path, and only by self searching and reflection will you understand the particular lesson that is yours to learn. Below there are some guidelines, but choose what makes you feel right on target, trust to the voice of your Higher Self , and you can never go wrong.

      ~*~

When the Sun is highlighted in a Draconic comparison, you may reach out and achieve your potential through taking pleasure in creative abilities. One may create on many levels; you may visualize your goals, take pride in leadership and worldly accomplishment, raise either a child of the body or the mind, or simply enjoy and enlighten those around you. Whatever you focus your whole heart on will be successful if you will concentrate on the matters associated with this placement by house and by sign.

      ~*~

Should the Moon be notably aspected the expression of feelings and emotion will lead you on a path by which you may find completion. Attuning to the rhythms of the world around you, cherishing those people and things which surround you in daily life, and being receptive is the way to fulfillment of your Draconic road. Opportunities are presented for you to nurture and feed others as well as the self, whether physically, mentally, or emotionally. Learn to listen and reflect on what you hear and feel.

      ~*~

Mercury as a focus planet directs one towards using logic and precision in everyday matters. Strive for clarity of thought, use the mind as a tool for accomplishing your visions. What you say and write may have importance for your future. Information may be a springboard for consolidating your conflicts. The handle for improvement may lie within the immediate environment. Thoughts are things, so direct your mind along pleasant paths.

      ~*~

Venus lights the way of potentiality via relationships, social activities, and the ability to love. Pay close attention to people and things attracted into the life through no effort of your own. While you walk on a road with another being harmonize and agree with them. Appreciation of beauty and the arts may catapult you into new and untried directions. Your gaiety and kindness may attract friends that help you in times to come.

      ~*~

When Mars is the planet accentuated work and effort will be the rewarding areas of life to concentrate on. There may be higher implications in actions taken. Push forward your personal desires, assert yourself and go after those things you want. Your own initiative may produce a turning point for your future. By pleasing yourself first you may become a pleasure for others. Accept challenges and bravely face struggles as you can grow by overcoming strife.

      ~*~

The only way to deal with Saturn in any form is to accept the limitations put upon you and learn to follow the rules. As you become aware of the value of public recognition or accept the fact that a reputation is built and not given without merit, you grow in wisdom. Obstructions and responsibilities are placed in your path so that you may become stronger, more capable, and more organized. Learning to plan for the future is your vehicle for gaining self respect. Ethical considerations are important to your fulfillment.

      ~*~

Jupiter in the Draconic chart gives deeper meaning to the development of philosophy and faith. How you react to the opinions of others and their words has a deeper portent for you. Acts of generosity to and from other people, especially family, may be signposts to future rewards. Learning to refine your judgment, weigh what is wasteful and extravagant versus what empowers others, and expanding your horizons are all areas to explore. Educational opportunities are avenues of positive portent.

      ~*~

Uranus brings sudden changes and unusual circumstances into the life and by meeting these face on you grow and fulfill the other side of your personality. Accept the new and different. The key to future possibilities lies in chance meetings and temporary friendships that spark new thoughts and goals. Embrace change, progress, and humanitarian endeavors. Refuse to stick with the tried and true out of fear. Learn to adjust to change. Let your innate independence shine.

      ~*~

The Draconic chart with Neptune exchanges indicates that seeds may be sown through an awareness of compassion and sympathy. Once we realize that all mankind is swimming together in a sea of similar consciousness, we may touch the pain of others from within ourselves. Acts of kindness stemming from imagined needs may be catalysts to our future. Confusing or glamorous situations may arise where things are not as they appear, but by accepting these without fear one may walk a path of higher ideals. Don’t shirk from sympathy or accepting charity. Walking a mile in another’s shoes may help you advance on your own road.

      ~*~

In Draconic charts Pluto dominating the delineation may point to accepting major upheavals as the route to satisfy the souls quest. There are people, situations, and things which must be eliminated and discarded to clear the road for future accomplishment. Pluto may represent abandonment of an element of the life that is the key to the future performance. The proverb, As we sow, so we reap reminds us to banish resentment from the past before we replant. Purity of purpose is all important with Pluto.

      ~*~

The Vertex involved in a Draconic combination blends the meaning of the Vertex with Nodes. There is no personal control whatsoever over the situation. The power over our own future lies in the hands of someone else. Another person is thrown into the life and we are swept up into a relationship that may , by surrendering our selves to the influence of the other, fulfill our personal dreams and bring them into actuality.

      ~*~

Draconic degrees show you exactly where you can grow, widen, fulfill, and enhance your life. These are the important points that can show where you may initiate individual growth of spirit and travel from what was into what will be. We can choose to make our futures brighter and happier by searching for the critical points upon which that future may hinge.
Use your Draconic Chart as a sign post pointing to relationships and experiences that will help you become rather than just be.
The hero in our fairy tales became a great prince, won great love, gained riches , achieved greatness and acclaim by valiantly searching out and meeting the dragon head on, face to face.

      • Draconic chart seems to color / modify the natal planets/angles; some examples of how to combine Tropical/Draco placements:
        ______________________________________________________
Keeping in mind that draconic planets and points tend to feel intrinsic or natural, we can blend the energies of the natal Sun with the draconic Sun, the reigning need of the natal Moon with the draconic Moon, and the identity projection of the natal Ascendant with the draconic Ascendant. The natal and draconic work together.

For example, our client has draconic Sun in Virgo with natal Sun in Aquarius. We can say to our client, “The horoscope suggests that energies are working intrinsically to refine and discriminate, and intellectualizing with others in an insightful way that probably feels quite natural to you.”

Draconic Moon in Capricorn with natal Moon in Gemini: “There is a major need to be bright, clever and witty, and at the same time, getting things done probably feels second nature to you.”

Draconic Sagittarius Ascendant with natal Taurus Ascendant: “The horoscope suggests that your identity feels comfortable approaching the world in a self-assertive way and simultaneously seeking to build something of value.
        _________________________________________________________
        • "dr Mars conj tr Saturn >> is your assertiveness, anger or any other energy represented by Mars somehow blocked, restricted, difficult to express?"

actually, it's DR SATURN cnj TR MARS . . . which your interpretation seems to reflect . . . and perhaps it would otherwise be the case, however, it just so happens that my natal tropical mars is cnj my tr asc in the 1st house and the natal/tropical saturn (from which the dr saturn is derived) happens to be on the tropical12th house cusp. As you might imagine from the tropical/natal placement, assertiveness/anger/etc has always flowed quite freely and considerable intention is required to prevent that from being the case. Maybe draconian saturn contributes to whatever ability i do have to block or withhold my assertive impulses, but that's rather the opposite of being afflicted with any such blockage.

"dr Venus/Moon conj tr Sun/Merc >> matters of the heart, emotions and how you perceive women in general is very much influenced and modified by your thinking patterns and your self-image "

this one works a little bit better, but again, the tropical/natal placement of "emotional" moon/venus is in "thoughtful" aquarius (in the 3rd house, no less)
and the conscious/self associated tr sun/mercury falls in the rather sentimental/emotional sign of pisces (in the 4th house, no less)
therefore, this confusion or swapping between thoughts(sun/merc) and feelings(moon/venus) is pretty well defined in my tropical chart as well.
the setup of these draconian circumstances is dictated by the coincidence of semisextiles, both tropical: saturn ssxt mars and moon/venus ssxt sun/merc; and draconian: tropical n.node @ 0*pisces ssxt draconian n.node @ 0*aries.

so.... maybe the synchronicities between my tropical and draconian charts (the ssxts in both instances) are more acute than they would be for most people, rendering mine as a less than ideal case study.

i still think that we do well/best when we apply the stated intents and purposes of the draconian method to interpreting any and every other type of chart. When we try to take/apply astrology beyond ethereal or spirit oriented contexts, it always leaves a whole lot to be desired.
      • I will get into this more later... I've been curious about my Draconic chart, and how I'm supposed to look at it. My Sun moves to Leo, in that chart, Neptune to Aries, Ascendant to Pisces, Mars to Cancer, and Uranus to Aquarius. Moon/Venus moves to Virgo..
        • I am still to explore and understand my Draco chart too but it already makes so much sense!

          my Draco placements are:

          Sun - Libra
          Moon - Taurus
          ASC - Gemini
          Venus, Mars - Virgo

          :)

this is basically how i read tropical charts (with un-adjusted nodes). I don't find the psychological/personality questions to be all that useful . . . since they only ask for answers that, if true, should already be superficially apparent.

that being said, the draconic adjustment of my 0*+' Pisces north node (to 0*0'Aries) causes Draconian Saturn to conjunct my Tropical Mars and Drac Moon/Venus to conjunct my Tropical Sun/Mercury . . .

not sure what to do with that info.

I'm really interested in Babylonian Astrology! But there are so less sources on it. I haven't found anything about Draconic Astrology in any books about Babylon.
I would like to delve deeper. Does anyone have a book or a source?

And who found out that Edgar Cayce described the draconic charts rather than the tropical charts? Again, I'm fascinated with Cayce. =)

    ----
I love Draconic Astrology! Especially the dynamics turn me on.
My tropical dominant planets in HOUSES are Mars, Pluto and Saturn.
Then again, I can find these three planets as dominants in SIGNS in the draconic chart!

What a great interdynamic relationship, don't you think?

I also think that many can see my draconic Ascendant (Pisces) in my eyes. Nontheless, eyes are the window to your soul and I find that energy always is apparent in the eyes.
People describe my eyes as sad-looking, but empathic and dreamy, and I'm very calming. That must be the dr pisces Asc.
Maybe it's the same with your draconic rising sing? Can people see your draconic Ascendant in your eyes?
    • I love Draconic astrology too, it so makes sense to me, too bad it is underrated ...
I am usually very aloof and introverted > Cap ASC but once I really like someone and connection with them (there are very few such people though) I become very chatty :-) I have Draco ASC in Gem
      • Unsu...

I have Cap Asc and I have such moments, too. ;D
But I know what you mean. That 'being chatty' comes from a completely different level.

        >too bad it is underrated
        Yes, I agree.
But then again, vedic astrology does not make sense to me. To many people it does. You have to see >something< in draconic or any other branch of astrology. For example my draconic chart has 90% water, whereas my vedic chart has 90% fire which does not interest me any further, because i have fire in my tropical chart, but no water.

I just looked up my husband's draconic chart. he has sun in cancer, moon in scorpio, mercury and mars in Gemini- basically exactly the same as my Natal chart!!!!! :-O Moon and mercury are at exactly the same degree!

        gogolesque,

I as wondering what would be your insight/interpretation of a person who is born with their North Node at/near 0 Aries? The natal and draconic charts would be identical.
        • interesting question :) maybe those who have NN close to 0 Aries do not have their inner nature really altered by their family, society, education, life circumstances etc?? Like they've known from day 1 what their life purpose or calling is??
          • thought provoking indeed. I sought out Rudhyar's Symbol Interpretation as a possible source of further clues...

            SCENE ONE: DESIRE

            Dane Rudhyar

            (Aries 1° to Aries 15°)
            FIRST LEVEL: ACTIONAL

PHASE 1 (ARIES 1°): A WOMAN JUST RISEN FROM THE SEA. A SEAL IS EMBRACING HER.

KEYNOTE: Emergence of new forms and of the potentiality of consciousness.

This is the first of the 360 phases of a universal and multilevel cyclic process which aims at the actualization of a particular set of potentialities. These potentialities, in the Sabian symbols, refer to the development of man's individualized consciousness — the consciousness of being an individual person with a place and function (a "destiny") in the planetary organism of the Earth, and in a particular type of human society and culture.

To be individually conscious means to emerge out of the sea of generic and collective consciousness — which to the emerged mind appears to be unconsciousness. Such an emergence is the primary event. It is the result of some basic action: a leaving behind, an emerging from a womb or matrix, here symbolized by the sea.

Such an action is not to be considered a powerful, positive statement of individual being. In the beginning is the Act; but it is often an imperceptible, insecure act. The small tender germ out of the seed does not loudly proclaim its existence. It has to pierce through the crust of the soil still covered with the remains of the past. It is all potentiality and a minimum of actual presence.

In the symbol, therefore, the emergent entity is a Woman; symbolically speaking, a form of existence still close to the unconscious depths of generic biological nature, filled with the desire to be rather than self-assertion. The woman is seen embraced by a seal because the seal is a mammal which once had experienced a biological, evolutionary but relatively unconscious emergence, yet which retraced its steps and "returned to the womb" of the sea. The seal, therefore, represents a regressive step. It embraces the Woman who has emerged, because every emergent process at first is susceptible to failure. This process is indeed surrounded by the memory, the ghosts of past failures during previous cycles. The impulse upward is held back by regressive fear or insecurity; the issue of the conflict depends on the relative strength of the future-ward and the past-ward forces.

The possibility of success and that of failure is implied throughout the entire process of actualization. Every release of potentiality contains this two-fold possibility. It inevitably opens up two paths: one leads to "perfection" in consciousness, the other to "disintegration" - the return to the undifferentiated state (the state of humus, manure, cosmic dust - i.e. to the symbolic "great Waters of space," to chaos)

This symbol characterizes the first of five stages which are repeated at three levels. This stage represents the initial statement, or theme, of the five-fold series which refers to the first level: IMPULSE TO BE.

I have a few relatives who's North Nodes are at the end of Pisces. The nodes are not placed at 0 Aries, but natal and draconic charts almost look identical. I am not sure if it symbolizes that their inner nature in not really altered by family, society, education, life circumstancess etc. I like your idea, but hoping that the planets have some influence on this too.

I have one family member with North Node at 30 Pisces & that person is what you describe and opposite of it at the same time. Their inner nature never changes, but that person is constantly mimicking what society expects on a basic level, and quite stressed from it. It's as if they have memorized emotional, social aspects of being human, but when the circumstances arrive they have to think out what society expects from them on the most basic emotional social level. This is where your idea fits, because the person never changes, never gets it, this fascade of being human is never part of them naturally.
            • 'but that person is constantly mimicking what society expects' oh how interesting, did not even think of that!
              • I have read that you often get those 'AHA !' moments when you look at your own draconic .. like ' This explains it all ! '.Even before you begin your interpretation something hits you.

Here are some interesting video lessons on the Draconic charts. www.youtube.com/watch

In my Tropical chart I have Saturn in high focus. I see this repeated in the Draconic too. Draconic Saturn falling exactly on my tropical MC ( hence opposite sun/moon mdpt). Well , I am interpreting this as having to master Saturn on the physical plane ?( tropical)

Besides I lack water in my tropical (Water singleton) and my Draconic is filled with water..(7 planets !) I guess all those Pisces planets only reinforces my tendency towards a 12th house South Node.
  • I don't think that a draconic chart would be indicative of the "eternal" soul necessarily but maybe the place your soul is pulling you towards. For instance, a lot of people find that a relationship exists between their draconic charts and their family members, which may be that you brought yourself into this life, with these people, so that they could help you along to your next path. In astrology, the north node is a sign of the "future", while the south node is a sign of the past. I think it would be interesting to calculate a chart based on the SOUTH NODE ha! Or maybe you could just change the signs in the draconic chart to the signs opposite of it? I guess the south node calculation wouldn't be of much use anyway because it would be where we are have been as opposed to where we are going :O So maybe in your next life you'll BE the draconic chart...who knows.
