Personal asteroids

here are thousands of asteroids, but sometimes it's fun to look at some with names that relate to one's own life. Since I will be travelling around Australia next year at this time, I thought...why not look up the asteroid named after tha...t country....afterall, I've wanted to visit there ever since I was an adolescent.

Anyway, it falls in my 8th house, no major aspects to anything...unless you count exactly falling on the quadrant midpoint axis at 4 Scorpio. If you take the midpoint of any two consecutive angles.....MC to Asc.....and find the points square and opposition to it, you will have this axis. Basically, it's like your chart's backbone...stuff that's really important to you on a visceral level. (The other 3 points would be 4 Aquarius, 4 Taurus and 4 Leo for me.) Next, I relocated my chart to various places in Australia, and... the asteroid Australia is in my first house through most of the country.....and conjunct the Ascendant in one city I'll be speaking in.

Finally, I looked at transiting Australia for my travels next year, and it will be in my 9th house (foreign countries) when I arrive there, and will be moving through that house for most of my travels in Australia, although it will reach my MC and cross over as I will be heading towards the final stop on my trip.

What's it all mean? Aside from just being a fun astrological game? Well, my colleague Jacob Schwartz made a career out of studying what he called Personal Name Asteroids....discovering, amazingly, that there is a freaky resonance between your o...wn life, and the asteroids with names that mean something special to you. And Australia does mean something special to me.

Oh, and if you are interested and reading Jacob Schwartz's take on these asteroids, here is a good place to start:

I was super pleased to find out that there is an asteroid Maryellen ~ in Aries, 1st house conjunct my Part of Fortune ~ I take that as further confirmation that it is super important for me to 'be myself' & explore my unique personality ~ of course that is true for everyone ~ but it just gives me that extra boost when I am feeling like I live in a society that seeks to suppress my personal expression.

It is also fun to plug the asteroid Maryellen into my friends (and lovers!) charts ~ so far, it has offered some amazingly insightful information :)

    love all-ways,
    mem

I hope you enjoy your travel and that you will be safe.

I too think that the asteroids are fun. I'm terribly fond of Lilith.

    Blessings,
    Mara
