an explanation of astrology?

topic posted Wed, May 14, 2008 - 12:00 AM by  bobby
hi my name is bobby. i have heard many things about the cosmos, read many newspaper horoscopes, listened to many ideas about the stars and to this day i don't have a decent concept of it all. i haven't once come across a single helpful page about the stars and learning how to read them without paying. but maybe i am asking the wrong questions.

so i ask this one: can anyone point me to some helpful information on astrology?

those sites are useful if used correctly they have a tonne of info.

    try also www.bobmarksastrologer.com/TOCl...s.htm

however all websites are for the general market so to speak. if you want a personalised astro report, go to a local astrologer.

however on cafeastrolgy.com there is a section you can fill in your details and get a fairly good report, its free so i recommend you do that first.

to be honest tho, if you're a TOTAL noob with astrolgy and don't know your MC from you Rising sign you might wanna try something more sun-sign based and start from there.

books which are good for beginners (and everyone in fact) inlcude

    sun signs by linda goodman
    the KISS for astrology
    love signs by liz greene

if you want to sink your teeth in a bit deeper go for
the contemporary astrolger by sue tompkins
    astrolger's hand book byFrances Sakoian
the 12 houses by howard sasportas
Astrology, Psychology and the Four Elements by Stephen Arroyo
anything at all written by liz greene

    good luck

Interpreting charts is like any other form of divination. It's a catalyst to understanding, that's all. Different people will read the same chart differently. Even the same person will read a chart differently at different times.

And then there's predictive astrology for those of us who get bored reading the same chart over and over again without change.

The thing to understand is that a large part of the interpretation is essentially controlled projection. You're projecting aspects of yourself onto the chart in order to notice them. The reading your getting is a ramification of who you are now and your current states of mind. If you don't like that reading, then it's a really good guess that you aren't liking some parts of yourself right now either. Try reading your chart with an eye towards how you might resolve those issues and to whether astrology has any clues about integration for you. It might. It might not. You might need to explore some other form of development or personal changework in order to work through that stuff.

    Bobby,

You raise an important question. Most people are content to have the astrologer give them a reading and feel positive about their future, themselves etc. when its time to go home. The simple truth is if you want to learn about anything that's worthwhile, it's going to take persistance and commitment until you get to the point where you understand how its working in your life. Until you own that knowledge and awareness, you'll always be looking in from the outside. It's like that with everything, no?

I have been studying astrology for over 35 years, and I'm still learning. I cannot begin to tell you how powerful and meaningful it has been for me. But again, it could have been some other pusuit like starting my business or having a career in science. For me, it has been Astrology. If you decide to pursue this interest, don't believe everything you read. Question it all and dig deep. This way you'll won't be one of those people who goes home clueless.

    Regards

    Jack
