I would like to get a copy of some of the music...

Re: ISO AT40 Recordings
Sun, December 4, 2005 - 9:25 PMfyi:
there are artists who performed at at40 who would be less than pleezed if unathorized recordings of their performances were made at all.
reminder:
your mic is on.
just saying... -

Re: ISO AT40 Recordings
Mon, December 5, 2005 - 6:21 PMwell, yeah, authorization is obviously an issue. of course it WAS an acid test and, uh, unauthorized? there is no effort on the part of AT 40 to distribute anything unauthorized. we are just trying to figure out if any recordings do exist.
hard to imagine after the thousands of hours of stealth grateful dead recordings of even the least taper friendly venues that a TEST would go undocumented.
the recent furor at archive.org is just the most recent reminder that deadheads are the most notorious archists in the history of modern music.
(for info on the archive.org gd furor, google the terms "archive.org, grateful dead, taping" and see the avalanche of stories that come up...) -

Re: ISO AT40 Recordings
Mon, December 5, 2005 - 6:50 PMof course soundboard would indicate someone approved of the DAT... so if this winds up being a controversy, i s'pose this thread would be best deleted and the DAT recovered as quietly as possible.
damn taper hippies! -

Re: ISO AT40 Recordings
Wed, December 7, 2005 - 2:58 PMIf any tapes DO exist I'd be happy to seed via bittorrent...
DimeaDozen.Org is a good place for that...
There's actually a good Prankster Video from the Dead's show at Egypt '78 hosted up there.
email me shawnagan@sympatico.ca if i can help you seed.

Re: ISO AT40 Recordings
Wed, December 7, 2005 - 6:29 PMcan't help propigate the bootlegging with no actual source material and, besides, i'm entirely too locked in to the group that would be accountable for the legal ramifications to actually ASSIST in bootlegging our own show when we didn't have a taper friendly policy established prior to the event.
but just out of curiousity, i can't seem to get bittorrent to download at faster than a few K per sec most of the time. is there a way to get it to work faster? am i using bad software? have bad settings? i turned off my firewall to try to get it to download faster and it doesn't seem to do much...
any info would be appreciated. -

Re: ISO AT40 Recordings
Wed, December 7, 2005 - 6:30 PMthe slow download seems to be the case whether i'm using taper friendly sites with bittorrents, like etree.org and furthernet.net or whether i'm using the vast number of illegal / bootleg torrents... -

Re: ISO AT40 Recordings
Fri, December 9, 2005 - 6:47 PMThe speed of your download depends a lot of the number of people helping to 'seed' it to you.
I find direct a direct bittorrent (ie: bt.etree.org) is much faster than furthernet.org.
A good way to get a rough idea is to compare the ratio of seeders and leechers, make sure more people are sharing than are taking.
I started a tribe to discuss music sharing. You can join @ tribes.tribe.net/sugarmegs if you have any questions.
Cheers.
