Hope everyone's OK and won't face financial difficulties because of no flood insurance in places where you just KNEW you'd never need it.

We're at the top of a hill and felt somewhat safe. I posted a blog about my experience. So far we've dodged a big wet bullet.

mopped up about 2 gallons water out of basement, hasn't been wet since kartrina down there,
this really was the most rain i have ever seen fall in ga or anywhere in my 45 years, in 4 days.
this was actually probably more than hurricane katrina or hugo or andrew, although the wind dammage wasn't there.
i think they said 12 inches overnite on sunday? maybe a total of almost 18 to 22 around metro area? since Friday ?
we were freaking about el nino in 98 with about 14 inches in a month of january back then , not four days,
I can recall a record total rainfall for June being abot 16 inches for the month being broken when a tropical depresion parked over the st back in maybe 92 or 93? that was like maybe 15 inches in about a month too, not over a weekend.
all lot of these apt complexes that flooded have only been around about 30 or fouty years, this rainfall event has been decribed as a once in one hundred or two hundred year event.
I live in dekalb and I got an automated call from the county on my phone tonite saying where i can go for shelter etc.
things are pretty screwed up apparently, maybe just not getting as much news coverage as the toranados bustuing up dowtown did,
