You really should check out Gunnison Beach in Sandy Hook State Park in Gateway National Seashore. You can Google it. (You need to Google Sandy Hook State Park, since there is more than one Gunnison Beach in the US.) It is primarily hetero, although there is also a large gay section. I too am hetero and have gone there several times alone with no problems. In fact, some of the friendliest people I've met at a beach were at Gunnison. Last time I went (a couple of years ago) I got pulled into a group of men and women who noticed that I was alone. We started talking and the next thing I knew I was playing volleyball with them and having a great time. It's the largest legal nude beach in the mid-Atlantic states and it is just outside New York City across New York Harbor.
