(auralynne) how to make harem pants part 2 - sewing
(For instructions on how to make the pattern for these, see part 1 of this how to.)
1. Fold fabric so that you have 2 layers, good side in, and cut out. Stitch together the curved seam in the center.
2. Turn inside out and bring sides together.
3. Stitch sides.
4. Roll down waistband, 3/4" then 1 1/4". Stitch down close to bottom edge, leaving a few inches so you can later insert elastic.
5. Measure elastic around hips, figure out how much you want to use and mark the point, but do not cut. Put a large safety pin in the end of the 1" elastic, and feed it thru the tube you've created. Pull elastic until you have your safety pin and your mark in view. Make sure elastic does not twist inside of tube. Cut at mark and stitch elastic together. Stitch last few inches of waistband.
Repeat for leg cuffs, except rolling down about 1/2" and use the 1/2" elastic.
6. Zig zag stitch over waistband.
