I know this is a long shot, but I am looking to purchase a serger within the next few months. If anyone has a 5 thread serger (or a 2-4 thread that is capable of doing a 2 thread overlock with a true safety stitch NOT mock) and would like a bunch of costumes from my website, I'm interested in trading! I'd prefer a bernina or a baby lock, but any well known durable brand works.

I've done some more research, and apparently the stitch I'm wanting is available with a 2/4 thread or a 2/3/4/5 thread, but not available with a 2/3/4 thread serger. Most 4 spool sergers are either 3/4 thread or 2/3/4 thread, and neither of those will do the stitch I need.

I have a SpeedyLock 1600 but it's.............the bottom of the barrel next to Singer! It doesn't do 2 thread well, if at all. So, er.....I'd forget it!
For a GREAT and I mean, FREAKING GREAT serger you'd want to try a Huskylock 936. It's the top of the line coverstich/elastic/two/three/four/five thread serger by Husqvarna Viking. Head to a JoAnn's and try one out, you'll fall in love.
It's totally what I'm saving up for since they are over $1,000 new (and I am a certified HV salesperson/instructor so I might be biased here.......)

Best of luck with whatever you find, sergers are priceless once you have one!

Thanks, everybody, I have one now...thanks Hayley!

Thanks Jillian, I will keep the advice in mind for if this one goes caput... It will be easier to shell out $1000 if I already am used to the capabilities of a serger...
