Would you like to see Hoopalicious in Austin or Dallas?

Hoopalicious in Austin or Dallas to teach us? What? Yep, I have been talking to her recently about this.

Why? Because I think Anah Reichenbach, aka Hoopalicious, is one of the most exciting, jamminest hella crazy hoopers I have ever seen, and I want to take some classes from her directly, to see how she thinks about this, how she teaches it, how she does her own special thing. Her classes in Santa Monica are very well-thought-out, very reasonably priced, and like the whole idea of Hatchlings, Fledglings, and Initiates. She has a JUMP! class and well, you get the idea, I totally want to bring her to Texas and spread the joy around.

This takes money, I will need to rent space, and I would like to have some idea of who would come out for the workshop, at least as a preliminary check. What do you think folks? I know I will be there! Here's why:

Most of the hoopers in TX are in Austin, I am pretty sure. Or, would any of you come to Dallas for Hoopalicious?

I haven't been able to tribemail Stephanie to ask her about this privately. If I am violating group rules here, please someone tell me and I will delete this post!

Thanks! Ferol

  • I'm not in either city but I drive up to Austin, on average, every other weekend to hoop with all the hoopers up there. San Antonio has nothing related to exercise so the fact that there are maybe 2 hoopers here including me does not surprise anyone I'm sure. I went up to Austin (on a Friday afternoon, traffic was HORRID) to take a class from Hoopnotica and would totally be game for going up for a Hoopalicious class. Count me in if you get one set up in Austin. I think they rented space at NiaSpace.com for the other class, I'm sure there are other places to rent there too.
    • HI Michelle!

This is very helpful. Just exactly the kind of info I was looking for! I would really like to do this, and have done other events equally as ambitious and succeeded with them, so why not hooping?

What I would really like to see is a performance AND a nice workshop, one in D and one in Austin. That takes more beans, but if enough people are interested, perhaps enough beans would be generated.

Big profit is not my motivation here. Hoopalicious teaching us live in person is my motivation. :)
      • Have you contacted the Austin Hooping Meetup group yet? Georgina is the one in charge of it and there are a ton of people that would probably be interested. I'm sure she'd send out info to the group though the list if you contacted her. She was one of the people who helped out Rayna when Hoopnotica held classes down here. We have a bunch of newbies that are just starting and plenty of advanced people too. Our meet ups have been growing in number and we've had get togethers that have had over 20 people at them, mostly new to hooping. For Texas I am very impressed with the interest so I think you'll be able to gather people here in Austin.
        • Thank you, Michelle!

This is really good news too, since I think a whole bunch of people, particularly newcomers, hooping at once is the best fun you can have, really! Add some brightly colored yarn dreadlocks and some facepaint, and wahla! craziness and fun!

I will go looking for the Austin Hoop Meetup, and thanks for all this good information! If you see Georgina, please feel free to give her my phone number, or anyone else who wants to help, for that matter.

It would be so fun to really DO it, and Hoopalicious was telling me that she especially likes teaching the total newbies, because she can give them precise, easy ways to succeed, and then they won't have to undo bad form later on, when the more complicated moves come along.
