WHD wrap-up!

THAT! WAS! AWESOME! Y'all!
About 40 hoopers trooped on the HooParade, and on the Pfluger bridge we converted many a jogger to the happy hoopy cult!
You all rock hard, dears, it was hot and you kept on hoopin and smilin.
Lots of good media, on News 8, Fox 7, and the Statesman.
Well done, and then a smashin fun hoop-in party at Hot Mamas to wind down and wrap it up.

There were enough of us to give a good show for FOUR separate events: an early morning hoop-in for News 8 at Deep Eddy (thanks Kim and Georgina), the hoop drive delivering 90 hoops to Safe Place (thanks Charlotte and Decadently Dorky), the HooParde/Flash Mob in the afternoon (thanks Odile and Cedar) and the WHD benefit (thanks Kelly and Ararat).

Nobody was able to make all events, so the variety and different times allowed most of us to participate and gave the media a smorgasborg of tasty events to cover.

Now I can't wait for all the UTubing to come!

Fire/circus performers needed for Erotic Carnival 10/24

The ladies at Sinsations host an annual event that benefits AIDS Services of Austin. They are friends of mine and asked me to post this announcement. They are looking for carnival/circus themed performers and fire performers to be a part of the benefit show. If you're interested, please contact them directly, their contact info is at the bottom.

I will be performing my HoopTease act, and fire hooping as well. It would be great to have some more fire artists.

Sinsations Adult Boutique throws an Erotic carnival every October to benefit AIDS services in Austin. We would like invite you, as a fire performer, to perfom at the Carnival.

This years Erotic Carnival will be held at Red7 (Austin TX) on Friday Oct 24th. Its is a benefit show for AIDS Services of Austin, so it needs to be said upfront that this is NOT a paying show. 100% of the proceeds go directly to helping those living in our communities with HIV/AIDS. You can use your performance as a tax write off as a charitable donation, and we will provide forms for that purpose if you request them. Also since it is not paying, there will be free beer and wine for you so you aren't having to spend your own money to get your drink on.

For those who have attended in the past, you know its a big show with a lot of draw. This year we are going to work harder than ever to get more people in the door and raise as much money as possible. We will be printing fliers in mid-September this year, and anyone who
agrees to perform by then will have their name on the flier. This has been as excellent opportunity for performers to display their talents and network, as well as give back to our community.

This year we are really going to push the carnival aspect of the show. Please take into account the theme of the show when picking music and costumes, if appropriate. Also if you need any help with costume designs or construction, let us know. I can also order corsets, pantyhose, shoes, anything youneed at wholesale prices, so just let me know and we will get that happening.

We would more than thrilled to have a fire-dancing segment of the evening. Red 7 has an outdoor area in the back, and they are completely fine with fire dancers. The space would probably not allow more than 2 people to perform at a time, but as many as would like to perform can, with our thanks!!

This year, we are going to have bands, burlesque, performances, suspensions, games, and anything else we can come up with. Please forward this on to any girls you know who would be interested in performing. guys as well I suppose haha And for anyone traveling, we will be more than happy to help you find a place to stay! Wes and I have lots of room at the house. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help us spread the word and make this the best carnival yet!

World Hoop Day events with Kim Patty in Austin

Hey Austin Hoopers! Here is an announcement sent to me by one of our Hoopnotica Certified Teachers - Kim Patty - for WHD events in Austin - hoop on! ~Rayna

Just an FYI that World Hoop Day is 8/8/08, this Friday. There will be several events in town to participate in.

To start the day I will be doing a spot with News 8 Austin at 6am. There will be a live segment as well as a taped version that will play throughout the day. I’m looking for more Hoopers to meet me at Deep Eddy Pool, 401 Deep Eddy Ave. to participate in the shoot. I know it’s early, but what a fun way to start your day! Hey, and you’ll be on TV! I’ll even take you to breakfast afterwards. Call me at 923-5247 for details.

Next there will be a Hoop Parade at 5:30pm that will begin at Barton Springs Pool. FYI the pool will be free that day.

To end the day there will be more festivities at Hot Mama Espresso Bar, 2401 E. 6th St. from 7-10pm.

Fire Performers wanted for theater promo on 8/13/08

The Regal Arbor Cinema is looking for experienced fire performers (hoop, poi, staff) to promote Joe vs. the Volcano on August 13th. Deets below.

The Regal Arbor Cinema is promoting their Retro Replay films and they are wanting fire performers for after the movie "Joe vs. the Volcano" on Wednesday August 13th at 8:30pm. The movie theater is located at 9828 Great Hills Trail in the arboretum behind the restaurant La Madeleine. It is on the frontage road of south bound 183 between Braker and Great Hills Trail. If you are interested please contact the coordinator Amy Wolf at 512-771-6001 (cell) or call the theater at 512-231-0427 and speak to her or the other managers Kevin Prewitt and James Pound.

The theater wants to have experienced fire performers (hoop, poi, staff, fan, etc..) entertain the patrons after the film in the parking lot. Bring your own equipment and you can start setting up at 8:30pm. You need to have someone with you that knows how to "spot" (i.e. put you out if you catch on fire.) It is important that you speak with one of the theater managers in advance to find out if they already have enough performers or if you have any questions.

One more thing: Its not an "indie" theater so please no scantily clad outfits or burlesque performances. And you can't sell hula hoops at the theater. Do'h!

One of your last chances to help make hoops for underprivledged kiddos

Tonight should be one of the biggest hoop making nights at the Artistic Reconstruction Warehouse (1023 Springdale - near the Corner of Springdale and Airport). Our goals was 100. We have made 85 hoops so far, many of which still need taped. We have tape, markers and blank hoops. All we need is YOU! :) We'll be at the Warehouse tonight starting at 7ish until people are done making hoops. Also, tomorrow night (Thursday) will be the last night for hoop making. Please try and stop by on one of those evenings. Brings some beer if ya want. We just need to make sure we clean up our mess so we can host events liek this at the Warehosue in the future.

We'll gladly accept donations of hoop making materials, cold beverages, trash bags, and money.

MORE World Hoop Day developments in Austin

We met Charlotte at Barton Springs on First Saturday, and she is organizing a hoop-making drive for kids at Safe Place and other places that could use some joy and hoopy fun. This is really most to the point of World Hoop Day! Basically there is an ongoing hoop-making party at the Austin Artistic Reconstruction Warehouse on up to WHD, then a delivery schedule for the day of HOOOOPS! You want to do this, right? Also they could use donations, drinks, $$, hoopmaking supplies, etc. Each of the hoops will incorporate an encouraging message for a kid who really needs it.

The World Hoop Day HooParade and Flash Mob is a merry gang, with hoopers and drummers, supersoakers and other support crew. We start at 5:30 at the Backside/Southside of Barton Springs, the parking lots off of Robert E Lee. There is an absolutely gorgeous photo/video op for the end of the parade, shooting from the Lamar Street Bridge towards the Lamar Pedestrian Bridge. This will be our moment to remember!

For our evening's entertainment, we have DJ's, hooping instruction, vendors, fire hoop performance by Sage, and general hoop jam fun at Hot Mama's Espresso Bar, 2401 E 6th Street. $10 suggested donation benefiting World Hoop Day.

Hello fellow fire fanatics!
This is an automated reply. Please join our tribe and stay tuned for updates on the upcoming NFPL Championship and tubing campout to be held Sept 26-28th on the beautiful Guadalupe River in New Braunfels ,Texas.

We are currently seeking DJs who may wish to promote themselves by providing music for the competition in exchange for the spotlight. We will need a link to review their music and their contact info. If you intend to use an independent DJ or band for your music, weather live or recorded, that may wish to be promoted and entered as an independent , there will be professional scouts attending the event who will be seeking musicians for future gigs. Pass the wordand help your musician friends get promoted!

We are also seeking judges for the duration of the event. If you or someone you know would be a good , unbiased, and fair judge,and may have expertise in performance art, martial arts, staging events, and especially the fire arts, let us know. We would like to receive a bio about them and why they would be a good judge. Entrants will be scored on technicality, form, costuming, stage presence, originality, musical accompaniment, and professionalism. Judges will not be allowed to perform in categories they will be judging.

Prices are $40 per person/per night and includes Membership to the NFPL for one year, entry into the championship, camping ,and tubing and shuttle service on the river. For Spectators, $30 per person/per night includes Membership to the NFPL for one year,camping ,and tubing and shuttle service on the river.Its gonna be a great time, so come out and enjoy what is sure to be a great time and great show.

For Championship entrants, there will be many male , female , pair, and troupe, categories to choose from, dependent on what fire tools you exhibit and number of performers in each routine. If you have a fire tool that is original or not listed , let us know and we will include it/them. If you use props such as structures or pyrotechnics, let us know the nature of these features and any space requirements.Please read our profile and be practicing your routines. You may enter as many categories as you wish.If you have your own music you wish to use in performance, please have it on CD or Ipod and ready to go. We will post entrant forms to bring with you to the show, so stay tuned!

Thank-you all for the amazing number of responses we have gotten. Space is limited to 2500 people at the event , so RSVP ASAP! We will try to answer all your questions in our updates. Tickets will be sold at the gate and it is recommended to let us know how many in your group , both performers and spectators, will be attending.

Flash Mob HooParade, gathering at 5:30 at the back/south side of Barton Springs. HooParade from there down the hike and bike trail to the Lamar pedestrian Bridge. Consider the media photo opportunities! Need we say? Okay, come in your finest, shiny-est hoopy-est gear!

From there an evening event is being arranged at Hot Mamas by Kelly of Ararat, with bands, DJ and, well, us of course! I hear tel she is looking for a couple of pro-grade performers, which is not me these days, thank you. I have asked her to schedule her event so as not to overlap/conflict with the Flash Mob HooParade. I Imagine we could get there by 8pm?

HooParade World Hoop Day proposed route

For a HooParade I recommend this route: park at the soccer fields or
the Barton Springs Road parking lot, and gather forces at our usual
spot. Then HooParade towards the entrance to the pool,(I will try to
get us in for free or cheap since we are just passing through)
HooPromenade around the pool (we will need to simply carry our hoops,
hold 'em high, though some of this stretch), then all spread out, go
up the hill and join the capoirea dancers, topless girls and jugglers if any are
there for awhile, then out of the pool area to Robert E Lee. HooParade
down Robert E. Lee to Barton Springs Road, cross legally there, then
we are basically back where we started. We could have a margarita at Chuys or
head back to our cars or back the starting point.

Barton Springs will be packed at this time of year. It starts filling
up around 4pm for the after work crowd, tho it will still be very full
around lunchtime. If we do something at 11 or noon, we will get on the
5 o'clock news. If we do something at 5, they have a hard time getting
it on at 7, but it will probably get on at 9. I've had just a little
experience with the media.

Please do RSVP. I'd like to know we have at least a dozen people to do
this!

This is the message I received: "the city of austin has banned the forest from any future events. that means you are being banned from the forest. i will be needing all the help i can get to open the gates again, as soon as i can figure out whats up with the obscure codes that are being enforced from a small handful who considers the forest a problem to the community."

I encourage everyone to take a bit of time to see what can be done to help; this is the most magical place in all of Austin, offering a venue for hoopers, poi spinners, and all artists to play and perform. For it to be shut down is criminal.

selling my new fire hoop

I made myself a new firehoop about 2 months ago. It's a little too heavy for me to use, and I am really broke right now . . . . so I'm selling it. $45.00

This is an 8 wick hoop, with a decorative pattern that is made up of vinyl, gaff, and sparkle tape. It has been used a couple of times, it's still in good shape. I will not be selling the wicks with it, however, I do have extra steel threaded rod that you can have with it. And you can purchase kevlar wick material at www.renegadejuggling.com (you need about 12" of 2" wide kevlar per wick, so you can order enough kevlar for about $16).

This thing looks like it's going to be pretty freakin' cool, I think this is what we, our community, need . . . lets go further, not just campouts, not just fantastic parties at our friend's houses . . . but lets really spend sometime infecting the general populus. Come, bring friends, bring strangers, support people in our community, interact with all kind of new and interesting weirdos . . . hell, lets turn some people weird, or weirder!

Also, if you are a hooper, I highly encourage you to come and bring your hoop. There is a lot of room at this venue, and they are hoop friendly . . . I was there just last night getting all hoopy all of the floor . . . and drunky, that too.

public display of hooping

Here's a cool impromptu hoop occasion - one of my favorite surf bands in town at the Bob Bullock Museum on Saturday, seeya there!

And then on Saturday, we're playing at the Bob Bullock History of Texas Museum and opening for the new IMAX film Extreme. Extreme is all about surfing, skiing, snowboarding, rockclimbing, and other outdoor action adventures. Didja see the half page ad in the Austin Chronicle? We're really excited about it.

We're playing outside the Museum in front of the big Texas star. We're playing from 1-4 PM, and it's totally free (The music is free. The IMAX costs. Check http://www.thestoryoftexas.com/showtimes/extreme.html for details. The Museum is located at 1800 N. Congress Avenue at the intersection of MLK Blvd.

Hula Hoop Cocktails For an After Hooping Treat

Did you know there is a cocktail named after the Hula Hoop? The ingredients necessary to complete this classic bartending recipe include 1 1/2 ounces of gin, 1 ounce of orange juice and 1/2 an ounce of pineapple juice. Bartending School Central explains that you pour the gin, orange juice and pineapple juice into a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Eeyore Loves Hoops!

Howdy Hoopsters,
This Saturday, April 26th, in Pease Park is pretty much THE BIGGEST HOOP DAY OF THE YEAR in Austin. It is Eeyore's Birthday Party, the most fun freak fest when Austin remembers who it is and acts out accordingly!

Please wear a costume! For a good idea on how folks go ALL OUT with their freakdom, check out the photos at http://eeyores.sexton.com/

There is often more than one hoop scene at Eeyore's. Folks associated with this group and the Austin Hoops Yahoo group generally establish our Hooper's Paradise towards the north end of the main activity zone, near where the east (sunny side) trail converges with the west (shady side) trail in a big Y. We can hear the drums of the drum jam that sets up just north of us in the shade on the hill. The main thing is that this area has grass, some shade, and is a bit less crowded than the egg-toss field.

Parking around the park is pretty impossible, so be prepared to walk a bit. I plan to get there with my hoops by around 2pm or so.

Pre-Flipside Hula Hoop Making Workshop

Details: Stephanie Taylor and Carrin Welch will be hosting a Hula Hoop Making Workshop for hoop enthusiasts. This workshop is open to anyone, you must pre-register. If you're a new hooper who wants a hoop of their very own, need a new size, or perhaps you'd just like to know how to make hoops, this is your opportunity!

We will provide tubing, connectors, and vinyl tapes (basic colors, 1st come-1st serve). We will have a few different size hoops (in both 1" and 3/4" tubing) for you to try, teach you how to put your hoop together, and give you taping tips. We'll also have some snacks available, and water on hand.

You need to bring cash, a camp chair (if you prefer not to sit in the grass), something to drink if you want something other than water, and a willingness to listen and learn.

Howdy Hoopsters,
At least me and Randal will be there to hoop it up. We are starting a little early so as to have things in full spin by 4:20.

Sunday April 6 begin at 3pm

The usual spot is: Turn into the parking lot for Barton Springs from Barton Springs Road. If you choose to park here you have to pa $3.00. Turn into the leftern parking area and continue East to the end of the parking lot. There we have grassy shady area for hooping, easy access to Barton Creek for cool-off dips, and if at least one of us is willing to pay the parking fee, we can use that car for music (assuming you have a sound system - I have neither a car nor sound system!)

Randal will bring a jam box and Cedar will bring xtra hoops and her new beverage of choice, the Hoopdance

Hey Austin-Area Hoopers

There is a thriving hoop community in North Carolina, and a part of that hoop boom is due to the Hoop Pathers. They combine many aspects of hooping with meditation and spirituality.

They are interested in bringing their Hoop Path Workshop here to Austin in March of 2008. This would be a 2 day workshop over a weekend, approximately 6 1/2 hours. I'm putting this out here to see what the interest is in participating in a Hoop Path workshop.

National Hoop Convergance in April!

Not saying yet that I can go but whether if/and/or, we should some of us go as an Austin contigent!

The purpose of this tribe is to get numerous hoopers together to share ideas, techniques, experiences, teaching techniques and insight for the further (r)evolution and understanding of hooping as a healing, creative, expressive, peace promoting, community strengthening, bliss creating activity. For those who are passionate about the growing international hoop movement, this online discussion forum can be - in itself- a convergence of many hoopers with varied experiences, interests and insights because of our similar interest in and love of hooping. Everyone is welcome.

Thanks to many folks coming together here to express interests, suggest workshops and themes, we will be hosting the First Hoop Convergence in Carrboro, NC April 11-16, 1008. This Convergence will roll right in Shakori Hills Music Festival in Silk Hope, NC (www.shakorihills.org.) Don't worry if you can't stay for the entire time, the weekend will be fantastic and full (but may leave you sad to return to work Monday.)

We have SO MANY ideas for potentially fascinating workshops and teachers, but realistically, we can only do so much in 5 days! This Convergence will also give us an opportunity to plan for an even richer 2009 gathering. I truly hope we'll be able to fit all that's here into the week....The discussions could obviously roll into the festival too!

WORKSHOPS
Currently, Spiral, Revolva, Caroleeena and myself (Jewels) will be leading workshops during this Convergence. Class details forthcoming but will include various hoop techniques, street performance, twin hooping, hand work and spinning for all levels. Other classes may be added on as they are confirmed.

INJURY PREVENTION & HEALING
We will also have an injury prevention panel of yogis, hoopers, massage therapists and other bodymind workers/healers. If you feel interested and able, please let us know your background. (Write me, hoopflow@gmail.com or post here for feedback.)

COSTUMES
We will have time set aside for developing costume ideas, sharing patterns and learning make-up techniques. (If you stay for the week, we may be able to visit some kick ass thrift stores too!) And don't forget the trade circle/costume swap!

WORLD HOOP DAY–
Community building, event planning panel: Several of us, including Hoopin' Annie O, creator of World Hoop Day, will be available to help you envision and manifest your world hoop day events or community outreach projects.

FIRE
On Saturday night, we will have a drum circle and fire ceremony with fire dancing. If you haven't fire hooped before, this could be your moment!

I don't know if we'll have time amidst everything else to build our own fire hoops, but maybe. If not, I'm sure you can order one from a local crafter to be customized for you and ready for your arrival to NC.

Sunday night, we will have a funky, jamming hoop hop set.
Plus! A pre-party for dressing and making up.

Burlesque Hooper/Performer possibily needed . . . you interested?

I committed to a show before I had my surgery in December. The show is on 2/2, and it's Mardi Gras/New Orleans themed. Unfortunately, I'm having some trouble with my recovery from my surgery, so I had to cancel with the producer of the show. The company putting the show together is very reputable and will pay for the performance, and he asked if I knew anyone who might be able to take my place.

Is there anyone here who would want to do a 6-8 minute burlesque style routine in an awesome vaudville type burlesque show?

If so, get in touch with me ASAP!!! He needs to find a replacement very quickly, and I will get you touch with him.

my own hoop journal

I have started a new livejournal to document the process of learning and improving my practice of Hula Hooping/Hoop Dancing. My hope is that this will help other people who want to learn more about Hoop Dance, or just learn to Hula Hoop . . . since I'm still learning, we can learn together.

I decided to start my own journal, separate from many of the other forums that exist for hoopers, because I wasn't really finding anything that was exactly what I wanted . . . a journal AND a place to post my videos and links to other people's websites and videos that have helped me in my process. Personally, I have found a lot of inspirational stuff on the internet, but many of the videos are of experienced hoopers who have already mastered many of the basics. While they are inspirational, those videos can be very frustrating too. Not only are most of the hooper videos you find of really great hoop dancers, many of them either have almost perfect bodies, or are amazing dancers . . . or BOTH. Again, that can be very inspirational, but I recall being disheartened when I couldn't do many of those tricks. They all made it seem so easy, and nothing was coming easy to me in the beginning. I rarely ever found any footage of hoop dancers in the process of learning, and I truly felt it would have helped. So, I want to create that for others who are just starting, or still learning, like me!

I will be using that livejournal space to share my practice videos, my thoughts, my hoop goals, and all other things related to hooping that are a part of my life. I will also post various things that have helped me learn to move forward with my hoop practice, as well as performaces and activities that are upcoming in my area.

Anna-Vlada from Houston, is an experienced hoop dancer as well as a rhythmic gymnastics coach. She will be traveling to Austin to offer her Beginner Hoop Dance Class here on Oct 21st.

No experience necessary! The extended 2 hr class time in this series allows for lots of one-on-one attention and detailed instruction. You will explore dancing while hooping, with ample time to master moves. Learn to hoop on your torso, arms, legs, and off body in elaborate turns and spins. Each move is devoted to increasing awareness in a different part of the body while working with a specific principle of hoop exercise.

What: Beginner Hoop Dance Class 1
When: October 21st from 3:pm-5:pm (please be on time)

October First Saturday Hoopin

Hey Hoopsters,
How about a first Saturday Hooop-in at the Springs? Oct. 6 is the date, and I need to start earlier, say about 2pm-ish 'cause I have to work that evening.

The spot is where we met for World Hoop Day, the shady grassy area at
the east end of the Barton Springs parking lot. Go into the entrance
on Barton Springs Road into the parking lot, turn left and park at the
very eastmost part of the lot. The spot is visible from Barton Springs
Road. It is $3 to park there on weekends. However, free parking is
available right across the street adjacent to the soccer fields.

Clay and I will pay to park there (white Subaru station wagon) tho his speakers are not the loudest. We'll bring some surf music and death metal and psych-pop to hoop to, if anybody has some good trance or industrial, that'd be a good round out.

There is free swimming in the Creek just downhill, and bathrooms are
nearby. Margaritas down the street.

Audiopium is performing again at the Artopium Roving Art Festival.
Saturday 10/13, currently scheduled for 1:30pm @ Hot Mama's Espresso on E.6th.

The theme for this Artopium is The Eastern Mystics Edition. There are a couple of us that hooped in the Erotica show with them, and we're doing it again on the 13th.

Lakeside hooping sunday afternoon 9/30

Several other DJs and I have been doing practice sets out at the boat ramp on Lake Austin at Hwy 360 bridge. There is an nice grassy area on the side with free parking and a small open field with a grove of shade trees.

I want to invite enyone out to enjoy the weather and tunes. I tried hoops for first time at flipside and love it, alothough I only know a few tricks and eager to learn more.

We'll set up PA and play fom 4~8. For your hooping pleasure, I've slected at least a couple hours worth of orbit-friendly tracks that I never get to play out at clubs or house parties. Also have an excess of hoop-making materials for anyone to make their own.

First Saturday hoopinat the Springs this Saturday

Hey friends,
It looks like at least a few of us are up for a first Saturday hoop-in at Barton Springs. That would be this Saturday, Sept. 1st at 4:20 pm, let's do it!

hoopin at artopium erotica festival

Hey hoopsters, I got a gig at the Artopium festival this Sat. the 11th. There is all kinds of sexy stuff going on, my hooping set is at 3pm. Then me, Megan and Carrin will be team-hooping to Audopium around 8-ish. We could use one or two or three more hoopers for our 30 minute set with them, 3 hoopers on stage at any given time with one doing trix up front and two backup hoopers, then switch out as the lead hooper gets tired/runs out of trix. Everyone gets at least one spotlight during the set. We wear white and use white hoops (or mostly white) in a blacklight strobe for this. Anyway, Carrin is hearding us cats for this so Tribe her or me a message if interested. We have practice Tues and Wed nights.

hooping into the future

We were hoopin it up at Barton Springs on Barton Springs Road for World Hoop Day!

Many trix were shared around and learned. If we do this ever so often, we are all going to get real good at this, so...

Maybe we should do it again?

The good things about this location are:

It is central and we are all from far flung parts of the city and beyond
It is in walking distance of free swimming
There is shade and soft grassy goodness
We can back up a vehicle right near by so as to provide music

The bad thing about this location is:

If you want to park adjacent to the hoop zone on the weekend there is a $3 parking fee
When Barton Springs is open and in high summer, parking can be pretty hard to find. (On this occasion the Springs were closed because of all the rain and runnoff from development. I swam in it anyway, let you know if I get anything from it.)

We really only need one person to pony up for the $3 parking (thanks, Lucian!) so we can have music. Free parking is available across Barton Springs Road for most of the rest of us.

For an alternative when the Springs are open, there is a nice spot on the South hill, where many games are played: hacky sac, capoeira, yoga. We can't bring jam boxes for our music, and even Gatorade is contraband. In the past we have dealt with the regs by having an outside post with jambox and whatever spice we were drinkin, and we pay or not pay to get into the fenced in zone. Parking on the South side is free, but it is fairly far from shadygrassy hoopzone, so car-propulsion music is not possible.

I think our 07-07-07 spot has the best of the goodnesses and the least of the notsogoods.

Again I invite us all to join http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/austinhoops/ for a really easy direct way for all of us to contact each other for impromptu hoop occasions. Tribe is great but the Yahoo group is less clunky.

Well I just happen to be a freak about the number 7 (amongst my other freakinesses) so I'm in, what about y'all?

Location? Venue has been our main tripping point. For a big hoopin day, we should pick a public place, large enough for everyone's orbits. Zilker? Pease? It will be freakin hot, so swimming/pool nearby would be a plus.

Let's hear some chatter, I'd be willing to talk to City people, etc, if we need to reserve space and such.
