Hey! I guess first off I have to tell you guys a little secret....I don't live in Australia. I am in Ohio, but my dream is to move to Australia as soon as possible. So I do actually love to hoop, and i was in the hooping tribe, but i got on today and saw that there was an Australian hooping tribe, and i got all excited, cuz i already want to go and now I really want to go even more if i can find hooping friends. Anyways, if any of you can give me any information about anything in Austarlia I would love to hear what you have to say. Right now what i really want to do is go to the daintree rainforest, and I also want to go to Nimbin. Have any of you been there? It sounds amazing. Anyways, I guess I also need to know about work permits and stuff. I want to get a job, but I heard that all you can really get, not being a citizen, would be like and under the table waitress job or something, and I want to work outside. My degree is in Ecotourism and Environmental Studies. Well, if anyone can help me out that would be great. I just want to get out of the states!!!

      fav hoop color: Rainbow
fav music to hoop to: The Shantee
fav place to hoop: In a hot tub filled with bubbles

umm to be honest im not much of a hooper. yet. i love hooping but i havent got a hoop yet so sadly cant spend much time doing it. thats all gonna change in a week or so when i make my first hoop. other than that im a juggler, fire spinner, contact juggler, general coordination geek. however i seem to have jacked up my left wrist pretty good so im hoping once i make a hoop ill be able to give it a bit of a rest while i use a toy that doesnt necesarily require quite so much hand action. im gonna be doin a little traveling soon so id love to catch up with some of you crazy kids for a play some time, just drop me a note and tell me where you are and how to get in contact :) or any melb kids any time at all.

much love and hugs and all that good shit

Hello, my name is Judith and I live in the Gosford-Wyong area of NSW, Australia. Believe it or not, I do have 3 hula hoops. I used them for a dance routine with some young children a few years ago. The young dancers stood in them, danced around them etc. They were originally florescent green (the hoops not the children) but I spray painted them gold and tied ribbons to them. The children loved them and they gave some definition to their dance that would otherwise have been little more than skipping in circles and jumping on the spot. And secretly, I occasionally have a twirl with the hoops myself. I think they are great.

I only just very recently became interested in hooping thanks to being inspired by a fellow exotic dancer / burlesque performer over at another forum I frequent.... not many people in my locale do it and especially "strippers"... I want to learn some basic tricks at first and if i get addicted to hooping may eventually down the track want to teach it ... at this stage I just need to buy a hoop (I'm hopeless at making anything) and get some instruction.... hopefully by a real person however i'm willing to buy a DVD if that is not viable.

None the less, happened upon tribe and this forum due to searching for australian hooping information.

My online nick is Gold Coast Girl ... or you can call me by my real name of Vanessa

    Hello, Hello!
I'm Gabi and I live in Sydney. I have just become intersted in hooping through links on Tribe, another poi twirling mate that has mentioned it as well as through searching for equipment online. I haven't given it a go in any structured way at all but am keen to get in there :)
If I did have a hoop, it would be green and blue with silver spangle dangs and my favourite place to use it would be at an outdoor doof listening to some earth-moving toons.

I'm heading over to work/study/teach with two circus schools in New York and Hawaii this year and am hoping to pick up as many circus skills before I leave.
