I recently inquired about what one has to do to become a "casual massage therapist" at the Hilton Waikaloa. It is quite a process. I currently have a full time day job, so I would basically have to take a week off work to get a part time weekend massage job at the Hilton. They require you to personally drop off your application during their business hours M-F 8am-6pm. Then you may be called for an interview, and if they decide to hire you for "on call casual massage" you still have to take a 3 day corporate training class. I personally think that this is way too much for an on call job.
I really wanted to have a shot at doing massage as my day job, but with requirements like that it is pretty hard. I should mention that I would have to drive a total of 4 hours to get over to and from the Hilton from where I live. I might consider a move if some place is offering a full time massage position, but those seem few and far between out here.
