Hi everyone, I'm completely new to hooping, and am actually waiting for my hoop(s) to arrive - but in the meantime, I thought maybe I'd make a (or some) hoops from Irrigation tubing so that I wouldn't feel so bad about dinging up my pretty hoop from hoopnotica.
Anyhow, I went to Lowes and Home Depot - seems Lowes might have the 3/4" 100psi tubing, but it's not obviously marked as such (I searched online once I returned home empty handed) - but they don't seem to have the nylon connectors - either that or I was looking in the wrong place.
Home Depot seems to have the thick white PEX tubing, and the only connectors i could find were brass, and I wasn't sure if that was the right material or not...seemed awful thick, and not likely to just fit the connector without either glue or copious amounts of tape.
Local Ace Hardware does not appear to carry any irrigation tubing at all that I can tell. *sigh*
TIA for any guidance/suggestions! I'm in the Phoenix Metro Area....Tempe/Mesa/Chandler region

Re: Any leads on hoop making materials locally?
Tue, March 24, 2009 - 12:11 PMThanks for the tip. It seems like Lowes is getting in the tubing, but they don't have it completely out and avail yet....and I didn't think to check Ace for the connectors - I figured if Ace didn't stock the tubing they wouldn't stock the connectors :P

Re: Any leads on hoop making materials locally?
Tue, March 24, 2009 - 3:56 PMLowes and Home Depot in my area only have a roll or two of the tubing in stock. Must not be used very much around here for it's intended purpose. I don't know why they don't have the connectors and Ace does. Lowes and Home Depot have some other connectors that don't work very good and are much more expensive. The connectors at Ace are under a $1. Plastic tubing cutters are nice to have too and don't cost very much. -

Re: Any leads on hoop making materials locally?
Wed, April 15, 2009 - 10:47 AMi've found it at lowe's a couple years ago... and i prefer the 3/4" personally... it doesn't bruise as badly. And I was always able to find the connecters too... but normally i had to get the 5/8 connecters for the 3/4" tubing...160 psi!
if you can't find it in tucson, take a trip up to phoenix...go to the one in scottsdale... get a bunch of it!

Re: Any leads on hoop making materials locally?
Fri, July 17, 2009 - 10:54 AMI just found tubing 3/4 " at Lowes in Chandler. Had a hard time finding connectors. Finally did at a local plumming supply in Maricopa. Had to use tape inside and out....we will see if it holds! This is my first hoop as well. Good luck on your search!

Re: Any leads on hoop making materials locally?
Fri, July 17, 2009 - 2:54 PMI've been going to the Lowe's on Baseline and Rural in Tempe.
They have 100ft rolls of 3/4 and 1inch in both 100 and 160psi. And the connectors are right there next to the tubing.

Re: Any leads on hoop making materials locally?
Mon, July 20, 2009 - 1:01 AMHiya,
I work at a lowes on the west side. On hand we have pex tubing in 3/4" and 1". For the regular black irragation tubing we carry the 1/2" instock but i know we use to be able to special order it as 3/4" and, i dont see why we wouldn't be able to. The nylon connectors are usually near the vinyl tubing they cut by the linear foot. But it seems like we only get a few of the 5/8 connector in at a time. Which blows cuz today during my lunch i went down to plumbing to grab a few since i have mon and tues off but there was only one.
