X-Orcism - The charade has come full circle again. Every four years this sham of democracy bids us to "choose", to take our part in the decision- making process. X marks the spot. Out of respect for those who suffered and died - the Chartists, the Suffragettes - we vote, but as we do so we must push to the backs of our minds the painful reality.

Government, any government, always jumps to the beat of the economic drum. Long gone are the days of Party Principals and Ideology, for all their faults. In these days of "free-markets" and business conglomerates, real control of the economy, and by implication, of society is in the hands of unelected, unaccountable corporations, who only believe in the bottom line. The State, meanwhile, merely act as the mouthpiece for decisions made higher up the power chain, in boardrooms across the globe. This is why it doesn't make any difference we elect today. It's not so much that the State isn't listening; it's more that they have no control over what is happening. However the illusion of democracy is always maintained in order to make us think we have a voice in how our lives are governed. Until there is economic democracy, nothing will fundamentally change in
our lives. Voting never got rid of GM food, the Poll Tax and the road building schemes of the 90's - it was through DIRECT ACTION.

Direct action - organizing together as equals - is the seed from which true freedom grows. Anything else and we only fool ourselves.

* This years Mayday being on a Sunday, London activists targeted that bastion of casualisation (or precarity as it's now known), Tescos. A Samba Band led the march into Tescos Hackney while others handed out leaflets to happy shoppers. Police violently ejected the MayDay'ers, with a handful of arrests. New Remasterd version of Fresh Fruit....

I listend to my cd version of 'Fresh fruit..' last night and was shocked by the quality... In my mind the LP sounded much better. I have a cherry red pressing from the 90's , so the analog to digital converters wern't of the same quality as those of today. Maybe we good ask Jello to release a remasterd version.....

SCREWED BY GREED AND THE U.S. LEGAL SYSTEM - BUT WHAT ELSE IS NEW?

I and Alternative Tentacles have thrown up our hands at getting any justice
from the three ex-Dead Kennedys' greed-motivated lawsuits, and the shocking
denial of our appeal. The court refused to hear any evidence of the many
shady things they have done since the trial.

But that does not mean that the verdict and court rulings are the real
truth any more than George Dubya was democratically elected
president. They just got away with a lot of lies. O.J. Simpson would be
proud.

What they have done to Dead Kennedys since their hostile takeover speaks
for itself. Their money uber alles mentality has more in common with Dick
Cheney than the vision and principles our band stood for.

I'm as proud of Dead Kennedys as I ever was. It seems obvious I love and
respect what we accomplished far more than they ever will.

If they force me to blow the whistle again, I will. We'll continue to
oppose the dumbing down and pimping of the DK catalogue, phony "reunion"
shows (often with my likeness in the ads), selling my image into video
games, their refusal to show me all the books, blah, blah, etc., etc.

Ending our defense against their main legal attack does not mean I endorse
or recommend any Dead Kennedys releases on Decay Music, Manifesto, Plastic
Head, Cleopatra, MVD, etc.

I can't. I'm too ashamed.

Fake Dead Kennedys' open letter to fans

A couple of weeks ago, there was a nutty posting on the Internet concerning Dead Kennedys' new "Live at The Deaf Club" CD. Let's just say: We had to laugh like hell. The posting was rife with inaccuracies and embraced immoral smear tactics in a pathetic "I am not a crook" attempt to influence public opinion. If it hasn't been said enough: don't believe everything you read...especially on the Internet.

The self proclaimed "whistleblower" derides the packaging and quality of the "Deaf Club" CD, and claims he was never consulted during the process of it's creation. Again: We had to laugh like hell. After all, how did he know he didn't like the artwork if he was never contacted about it? And for the record, there are copies of faxes, Fed-ex receipts, etc. up the wazoo to confirm he was kept informed about the project all along. Moreover, his lawyer was recently sent a fax asking them to take down these absurd comments. He was well aware of the CD but in fact chose not to participate in its production. Decay music is a democracy, not a dictatorship.

And let us not forget the non-existent Levi's ad (more appropriately termed the never-anywhere-never-happened Levi's ad!) and claims of an ongoing lawsuit that is only ongoing due to the efforts of our beloved "whistleblower" and his law firm. By our count he's lost 8 out of 8 cases in court. This is where our "whistleblower" starts sounding more like a "mad conspiracy theorist who gets too little sleep" and spends too much time thinking up "what ifs" rather than what IS.

He went on to warn the poor, unenlightened public about the "mentality" behind the making of a 22 minute DVD, referring to "In God We Trust, Inc. - The Lost Tapes", whose actual running time is 55 minutes, and then asked about "where the money is really going" from the aforementioned CD and DVD. We looked at his cashed royalty checks and thought to ourselves, "Mystery solved!"

And then, again, we had to laugh like hell.

For the record:

*Anyone concerned with the quality of the new "Live At The Deaf Club" CD can read unbiased reviews at www.allmusic.com, in the March 2004 Mean Street magazine, and in the May 2004 Guitar World.

*Anyone concerned with the fair distribution of royalties should be aware that Dead Kennedys and Decay Music are a partnership with each band member sharing equally. Additionally, all band members are paid on a regular basis on their music publishing based on the songwriting credit on each song. Thank you for listening.

Okay my opionion on this, it ain't that bad. I used to have crappy cassette copies of their shows from back in the day and the last two CD releases were a godsend.

There is NO right in this world when even the DKs can't get along. Personally I support Jello AND EB Ray and Co. These guys really need to call a truce since the way things are these days (and since they're still all alive), well, let's just say they're needed.

JELLO BIAFRA APOLOGIZES TO FANS FOR LATEST DEAD KENNEDYS
"DEAF CLUB" FIASCO

I am sorry I have to be the whistle blower yet again. I am deeply embarrassed by the poor quality of their new "Live at the Deaf Club" CD. It could have been a good album. But in my opinion the sound quality and remix are so lame it's not even as good as the versions on "Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death." And those mixes are almost 20 years old. If they really "spent the better part of a year" on this, I wonder what they were really doing most of the time.

I don't think the artwork is as boring as "Mutiny on the Bay," but it doesn't really rock my world either. To me it's a dumbed-down version of the good stuff Winston Smith and I made, but now it seems deliberately designed not to offend anyone. Sad.

I relayed my concerns to East Bay Ray, but as usual I never heard back. I have also been confronted several times at shows by people feeling ripped off by the "Making of In God We Trust Inc." DVD. They said they felt especially burned by only 22 minutes of content, and that the karaoke section was as stupid as the elves (yes, elves) on the cover.

Please, folks, I had nothing to do with this! Like the fake Dead Kennedys "reunion" tours, I did not authorize either of these projects and was not allowed any meaningful input at all. I can't double-check the 22 minutes or whatever because I am not allowed to possess the MVD releases unless I buy them from a store. I have never received copies, or even a contract, from Ray & Co. at all. Nor am I allowed to see all the books.

In 1998 the other ex-Dead Kennedy's filed a vicious lawsuit against me stemming from a dispute that got ugly when I opposed putting "Holiday in Cambodia" in a Levi's Dockers TV commercial. Unfortunately, their lawsuit is still going on. I
maintain my innocence, and am sickened by what they have done to exploit Dead Kennedys once - good name and legacy since. I would like to go into much deeper detail about all this, but our attorneys have asked me not to. Let's just say it is far from over, uglier than ever, with no end in sight.

So please be aware of the mentality behind all current Dead Kennedys releases, and where the money is really going.
