best summer carriers?

okay so the moby-d is good for all kinds of carrying but with the silk brocade fabric panel it is getting a little steamy for TX so was wondering what you mamas have found that works for you in terms of hot weather carriers.........Especially for those who live in HOT HUMID climates.

what have you used and loved?

ah, i'd have to say the mei tai is light & versatile enough for those hot, sling & go days. for summer hiking, we invested in an ergo, but i wish we'd bought a beco instead.

I second that- any of the minimal-fabric carriers, such as a mei tai, beco or ergo. They're all just a smallish rectangular body with thin padded straps.

I was actually gonna post for the first time in a while, we went to the zoo today and i carrier Sequoia in my beco. It's been a long time, he's really at the i-wanna-walk stage, so we've been bring the little umbrella stroller and walking/strolling everywhere we've gone lately. I was worried he'd grown out of the carrying phase.

it's pretty hot and humid in philadelphia ... last year, i carried abigail everywhere in the ergo ( she was 10/11/12+ months old in the summer ) ... the only thing i was really aware of was body heat, so i dressed us in the lightest tops possible to minimize the sweat-factor.

there were only a few times that it was simply too hot & humid to carry her and have us both be comfortable, so in the coach she went.

babies=little heaters...wow. it is so true. it stays hot and humid here so much longer than where i moved from so if i want to carry this little one, i had better get the carrier right for us. i really appreciate all the input.

i figured i would ask the mamas and see what you all have to say about it. so thanks. i will try everything. with the carriers i can only handle wearing nursing tanks because i get too hot as well.

have any of you ever tried a swimming wrap? i was wondering how these work...

a good, lightweight, not-too-stretchy pouch sling is nice too. especially when they get to the sitting up stage. then you can just throw them on your hip & go.

my friend is sending me her peanut shell sling which she said worked well for her in the hot humid weather. we shall see how it goes for us.
