Re: new carriers for sale!
Mon, July 9, 2007 - 9:53 AMthe sun onbuhimo (or "surya" as i have affectionately named it) is $70, but you get free shipping, just cuz you're on tribe. i love it, too! it's the first in a series i'm going to be making. the next one will be a moon, then fire, then water, maybe a lotus one... i haven't worked it all out yet. i just took some pics of me wearing it, to see what it looks like in action! it's well-padded on the straps, so it's really comfortable. this was the first time i'd tried it on & i'm very pleased. the following onbus will be comparable in construction, so if there's a theme that's close to your heart, i could always do that. let me know!

Re: new carriers for sale!
Tue, July 10, 2007 - 9:30 AMonbus have rings instead of waist straps, so you can thread the shoulder straps thru & then tie them around your waist or up over your breasts in a tibetan-style tie. that's my favorite. see jamie's pic of her turqoise wrap for an example of this tie. i would recommend googling onbuhimo videos. -

Re: new carriers for sale!
Wed, July 11, 2007 - 9:59 PMI carry my 4 month old facing out in a mei tai all the time and have been doing so since he was 2 months old. I don't tuck his legs in-- instead, I use this (www.meitaibaby.com/images/extenders.jpg) to bunch up the fabric at the bottom. I know some "experts" recommend against wearing a baby facing out, but my little dude LOVES it! -

Re: new carriers for sale!
Wed, July 11, 2007 - 11:16 PMthe picture didn't come up on that, but i think i know what you're talking about. i suppose one could make a diy version by just tying a strap, scarf or some other narrow piece of material to bunch the fabric.

Re: new carriers for sale!
Fri, July 27, 2007 - 5:04 AMI think the concern with most forward facing is the dangling leg position. I do crosslegged forward carry in a mei tai or a supported, leg up position in a wrap occasionally, but my kiddo is mostly fine not facing out. The squat-straddle position (most kids go into this naturally when hip riding without a sling) with adequate back support is important for proper hip and spine development- remember, even if kids aren't complaining, spinal compression may not have noticable effect for years but can really get you off to a bad start for all kinds of problems later on.
