Yeah I think I tried one when I was stuck downtown without a baby carrier. Someone I was with had a hip hammock and I wore my 20 lb. 3 month old in it and it friggin killed me! I had to cut our hangout short. We mainly used our ergo at this time so maybe that is what I was comparing it to. But based on my one encounter I wouldn't really recommend it. I remember a distinct lack of padding in essential places and it didn't do good things for my back or neck. If you wanted a hip carrier I would suggest a good sling or a ergo or beco soft carrier which you can use in a hip carry position. Spend some extra bucks, your body and your baby are worth it.
