i tried out the moby that i-dee so kindly lent me and i feel like my tiny little peanut is just too small for it right now. it seemed very loose and unstable and i tried re-wrapping several times!
am i just not wrapping tightly enough?

Re: moby help
Fri, March 28, 2008 - 5:42 PMspread the fabric out around her and get it TIGHT. if it is uncomfortable for you then maybe wait. my little one did not like being in it at first and objected loudly so we just kept trying till she and i found our groove with the moby...it is a learning curve and it takes a little time to get used to the fit.
make it really tight on you and then pop her in when she is sleeping to ge the fit and have someone help you loading and unloading her till you get used to the way that feels...i often though of unloading her as giving birth out my chest...LOL.
keep at it mama, you will get it. -

Re: moby help
Fri, March 28, 2008 - 6:03 PMcool, i will not be shy about tying it tighter. since it's not mine i am being extra careful to take good care of it and didn't want to stretch it too much but if that's what you're sposed to do then i am no longer afraid!
she seemed to like the newborn hug hold so if i can just get the wrapping part down i know it's gonna be a hit. i've been using one of my pouch slings but with all the bending over i do it doesn't feel as secure to me so i am really motivated to get it right with the moby.
thanks, skadi!

Re: moby help
Sun, March 30, 2008 - 9:24 AMyou can't really stretch out the material too much on a moby. every wash it shinks up a little and takes on its old shape. the key to holding the little one, and bigger ones too, is to get it really tight before you put your baby in. then stretch out the material to put her in . she should be snug against you, just like she wants to be. :)
i don't know places in the bay, but in portland any place that specializes in carriers will be happy to help you. bring your baby and your wrap (usually they should have demos, too). they will walk you through it or help you if you need adjustments. check that out if you're still needing support.
good luck! -

Re: moby help
Sun, March 30, 2008 - 8:07 PMYup, it needs to be really tight. I made that mistake the first few times I tried it as well. The fabric is so stretchy that if you don't wrap it tight your babe will sag way too low:-) I'm sure you will figure it out and will love it. I don't know anyone who has one who doesn't!

Re: moby help
Sun, March 30, 2008 - 9:29 PMlola, you're welcome to wash & dry it. i'm short, so i dried it once. it was a long time ago, so it may have stretched out since then. just giving you the go-ahead in case you think it'll help. find yourself a kids boutique that sells them. that's where i learned!

Re: moby help
Thu, April 17, 2008 - 6:30 PMThat's a great video! The hold for a newborn is the same, you just don't put their legs through, you bunch them up on one side. do you have the book it comes with? The book has good pictures and explains all the holds. -

Re: moby help
Wed, April 23, 2008 - 8:00 PMyes....i finally got it! he snuggles right onto my chest. it took me a while to get the tension right i was worried that it was too loose and that he would fall out or that it was too tight.... i just kept trying and it finally came out right. i should have praticed before i was sleep deprived with a newborn..i think it would have been much easier then!

Re: moby help
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 10:37 AMYES...I love my moby wrap.
Georgia was in there from day one. She was only 6lbs...but I put it on TIGHT and she was snug against me. One day she napped in there for 2 hours while I did dishes, and paid all of my bills.
The moby is awesome.
I also put her in there while I grocery shop. It keeps people from touching her...and she is snug and tight against my chest and the walking lulls her to sleep.
I wish I had worn my first two more. I didn't know about the moby wrap back then. Just the baby bjorn.
