3 Wins in Five Years!

Yep I'm crowing. This July 4th I won best of show at the Marin County Fair for my herbal wreath. This is the 3rd Win in five years. One of the reasons I love winning in Marin is the look on other folks faces when they find out the entry is from blue collar, gang ridden, murder city Richmond across the bay!!
I stuffed the circular base with dried moss, soaked it, and then carefully inserted sprigs of two different types of rosemary. For color I added the tiny blossoms of Lemon Verbena. I then carefully wrapped the wreath with jute and hung a sun catcher on it.

I think I'll rest on my laurels next year.

I won a second place for my rosemary bouquet...the competition was fierce...the person who took best of show absolutely deserved it. Her rosemary looked exquisite. I might have gotten a blue ribbon if someone hadn't emptied the water of my vase.

I also took third in the floating rose competition. I have no arguments there. Rose competitions of any sort are tough, so I'm honored I got a third.

I missed the deadline to enter my blackberry jam...I was in Virginia at the time. Oh well...I'll just make more and give out the jars as Xmas presents.

I always have some jars stashed away. My private stock so to speak. Ask Acker how good it is.

        Great! Looking forward to it.

Also, light some candles for luck and such for around July 24th. Kristi has a multi conference interview call. May be her best bite yet, but we can't be to optimistic.

Hey Joe...how easy are shimaghs to get over there? Are they cheap? I have been looking at getting one to match the pine barrens area for camo use.

Easy? Easy is an understatement. I can go to the local bazzar and get one of EVERY color just about. And yes they do have the brown green kinds. I got two of them.
If you want, email me and I'll get one to you.
The prices rance from 4-12 dollars.

What's a shimagh? Do you eat it? Does it come in other flavors?

ROFL!! Naw, but you CAN use it for many things including wrapping and carrying food. Its the head dress they wear over here, and sometimes wrap it around their face to protect against the wind and dust. The SAS love them.
Maybe I'll send you one with the carpet and spoon.
