So, I used to live in LA, near the 10FWY and LaBrea. The three closest BofA ATM's to me ALL shut down after 5pm. Not just the branch closed, the ATM's were shut off too. To get money, I had to go to Culver City or near USC! This was a total pain if I was heading somewhere in the evening and needed cash.
The thing that really got me about this practice is that these ATM's were all in areas which are pretty economically depressed and largely minority. I feel like BofA was really being very discriminatory in this respect. Their official line about the closures was something along the lines of them being "unsafe" or something at night. Total bullshit. Just because someone lives in a less fancy part of town doesn't mean they don't need access to their _own_ money after 5pm, goddammit.
... Oh, and don't even get me started on the fee bullshit. I've never felt like such a victim of a "bait and switch."

Re: Discriminatory ATM Practices
Sat, July 23, 2005 - 10:40 AMThat is discrimination. I live semi close to that area too! I'm with Washington mutual. It's "okay", but I've had to keep a close eye on my account! I've caught a few "mistakes". Gotta have on line banking!

They have ruined my life; this Bank is full of CIRMINALS. Employees are looting, and those! BIG SHOTS are just watching and doing nothing.
We the people who have put our trust in them to protect our valuables.
