I just finished watching "Enron, the Smartest Guys in the Room" and man, it made me want to start a revolution! I had no idea how blatant the price gouging actually was, the frat boy mentality of the traders at Enron and the disrespect with which they spoke of the plight of California as the rolling blackouts caused mayhem, while they made millions.
Anyway, these bank/investment companies were "gaming" and committing fraud with Enron:
Citigroup (Citibank)
JP Morgan
Chase
Goldman Sachs
Royal Bank of Canada
Houston-based Andrews & Kurth
New York-based Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy
Don't trust these companies making millions off the suffering of others.
Check out this movie, it will make your head spin:

Mon, February 13, 2006 - 11:10 AMYeah, I thought Citibank was okay, but I don't trust them now at all! They have to pay out fines and stuff and they are going to have to make that money back "somehow", so you know what they are going to do "a little bit more interest here...an increased late fee there..." -

Re: More banks not to trust...affiliated with "Enron"
Mon, February 13, 2006 - 11:29 AMCitibank offered no origination fees for the loans I took out so I know they will most definantly raise my interest after I graduate. From what you said, I am 100% sure they will now. My school used them, Sallie Mae, and Bank of America. I we all know to run from BoA for anything and Sallie Mae reported me as a late payer on my credit report when I was not even in repayment; I was still a student! It took months to fix. They even turned me down for a non government student loan based on that late pay with them that they swore never happend. After that denial letter, I had it out with them. This got them to remove the error right away (but they still did not give me the loan) This was also one year after finding them on my credit report and being promised it would be fixed about different 8 times. I guess we can add Sallie Mae to the list as well. They are ok as a lender but have horrible customer service and follow through with promises (aside from credit reporting problems) For now, I will stay with Citibank until school is over and then move the loans before they hike the rates on me. I already moved everything from Sallie Mae to Direct Loans and will do the same with CB.
I think companies are becoming way too big to handle personal accounts properly. Our accounts are now at risk because of the amount of "hands" messing with and pasing around our information. Think of it like this: When you tell someone something (a story or whatever), that person will tell 50 other people; all changing a bit of the details here and there. By the time it gets back to you.....it's not even anything close to what you said. That's what's going on today with these big companies. The little guy has to check his/her accounts and credit reports more often, keep every scrap of paper/email from the company, and keep notes of everything said to that company EVERY time they talk to them just to prove an error even occured. There is no more "the customer's always right" or "the customer comes first". Now we, the little guy, have to make sure we look out for each other so the big guy does not slide an extra dollar or two of our into his big, fat, billfold!
Again,
thanks for the warning.
